Tips / Tricks / Tools By the time I got them contained and labeled I didn’t want to start on the actual painting anymore 😭

The square containers I just got today, they have little jars inside with their own lids and the square snaps shut nicely and the other thing is a Day/Night pill catty my grandma doesn’t use. the carry works really well since it holds two halves in one container and snap nicely shut not coming undone if I drop it.

Tips / Tricks / Tools New to diamond painting - anyone else only use the single placer?

Post image

Hello, sorry for bad quality photo. I took this on my iPad cause my phone is charging

This is lighthouse on bluff from DAC and I only found out after I bought it that it’s probably AI 🥲

You can see in the top left where the diamonds are uneven is where I was using a multiplacer but they get more even when I started using a single placer and doing the checkerboard method.

It takes more time and probably more strain on my arm but it’s so relaxing and satisfying.

I’m still deciding whether I like a flat surface or a tilted surface better. The only problem with tilted is I can’t get the canvas sheet to stay in one place and I try to tape it but it eventually falls.

If anyone has any advice I’m all ears!!

Tips / Tricks / Tools I don't need a fancy diamond organizer

Started this hobby when I got sick and thought I'd put my old prescription bottles to good use. While all those diamond organizers are super cute and tidy, I just can't spend the money on a nice one, so this system works for me! Thought I'd share in case someone else just starting out has a ton of prescription bottles as well 😁

These needle nose pliers are easier than the single Placer and I was like thinking before I got them I was like there's no way. And the only reason why I got these was the try glue dots and they are a pain in the ass to load in a single Placer.

Tips / Tricks / Tools Penguin DP pen my dad made :)

Penguin DP pen my dad carved for me! Catteared single placer nose and a cheap 5 placer tail. He's made some whales and dolphin pens for me before, as well as some regular pens, and I love them so much! I only use the more ornamental ones (and I'll admit this one can be a handful, though it’s still very usable for me) when I'm gripping smaller pens too hard for my joints. If I remember right, this is one of his figured maple scraps. Thanks, Dad! 🥇

edit: he's also done a fruit bat pen for a friend, and made me a shaker style sewing box to fit my Elizabeth Ward drills. I'll share the box sometime too!

Tips / Tricks / Tools I received my organizers today!

I was so excited when these arrived! I spent the last 3ish hours unboxing and transferring drills into these new bins. It took awhile because I had to cut and place each piece of yellow washi tape (for easy removal when I am finished) and place each custom sticker label on top.

I designed, printed, and cut the labels myself because this kit only came with a poorly placed guide on the BACK of the canvas 😅 Fortunately I very much enjoy designing these systems and it was super satisfying when it all came together!

I’m genuinely so excited to dive back into this painting now, but I have to make myself stop and go make dinner or else I’ll sit here all night lol. Was just so excited to share because I don’t have any friends who are into the hobby!

These are the organizers I got: https://a.co/d/0arCzwxE and the diamond painting is Cat With Flowers from the spring shop at Hobby Lobby ✨🐈💕

Tips / Tricks / Tools What a surprise!

Post image

Hey everyone!! I am getting ready to kit up my next project and I just opened it up. I purchased this off of Ali Express from Ever Moment. It had of course your regular supplies such as canvas, drills, wax and pens. To my surprise it also has tweezers, washi tape, and stickers!! I love that it has stickers!! I’ve only had one kit that had that and that was from Dreamer Designs. It’s a 45x30 and cost me about $25. So it wasn’t real cheap like some on that site but it wasn’t 75-80 like on the name brands. I will know after I complete it but as of right now I am a very happy camper lol 😀

Almost forgot, it also came in a sturdy tube rolled up so no creases 😊

Tips / Tricks / Tools first time tweezer review

For anyone who was wondering how well tweezers work. They came with this canvas so I gave them a shot.

Honestly I wouldn't have bought tweezers for myself, because I thought they'd be a hassle. I'm very surprised at how easy it is to pick up the drills. I have much more control over the drills in comparison to the regular wax-pen. Thus the placement is super precise. It doesn't slow me down either. It's about the same speed I go with a single placer, taking into account how often I'd have to change the wax and tough up the placement.

I'll probably finish this project with the tweezers since the pattern is very tight. The grid method works wonders too.

Tips / Tricks / Tools Tried diamond painting for the first time because I’m tired of cleaning all the time, i love it so much.

I don’t know if it’s just me, but I reached a point where I got so tired of doing the same routine every day—cleaning, organizing, then the next day it’s messy again like nothing happened 🫠

So I randomly decided to try diamond painting just to break the cycle…and honestly, I didn’t expect to enjoy it this much??

At first I thought it would be boring or too tedious, but it’s actually kind of relaxing. Like, instead of stressing about dust and clutter, I’m just there placing tiny shiny pieces one by one. It feels weirdly satisfying seeing the picture slowly come together.

Also, it forced me to just sit down and not think about chores for a while, which I really needed.

Now my only problem is… I keep saying “just one more section” and suddenly it’s been hours 😂

Anyone else tried this as a stress reliever? Or do you have other hobbies you picked up just to escape house chores for a bit?

Tips / Tricks / Tools The loveliest item I bought for this hobby so far.

I bought this pill box from a local craft store to store my colors individually so it’s easy to do the painting. I was going color by color but it was really slowing down the process and I had to rip apart the covering towards to middle of the painting while leaving other areas open.

This box made it much easier to go section by section without leaving other areas open or the glue to dry.

To avoid confusion I put in small pieces of papers with the letter corresponding to the color

🌸Bonus: it holds my dotting wax perfectly 💕

Bought these on amazon to go against the Artdot versions and These are SOOOO much better! 2nd pick shows how easy it is to get the drills to line up. We just bough another set and I'm planning on a few more. I'm just kitting up in these from now on. Love that I can switch colors so much easier now as well.

Tips / Tricks / Tools Square Drills Vent

Post image
45 Upvotes

I absolutely love working with square drills and I prefer them over the round but I cannot figure out why sometimes I cannot line these up correctly. I’m actually considering taking apart this section and redoing it because I think it looks horrible. 🤣🤣🤣. Am I the only person who encounters this with square drills? And I know I also use the lightboard so I do turn that off and take a step back to look at the canvas from a distance put up close it just really bothers me. I think it’s just something I’m going to have to get over. 😊

Tips / Tricks / Tools Someone posted a video about how nice a good tray shake and they were right. They shake so good my husband did this.

I ordered them and just got them, they’re lovely af. I can’t believe they shake this well even for him. I thought I had developed the right wrist technique to get this result but nah. He’s never done this before and is nervous when I make him single place a stray for me just for fun and he did this while I was pouring out another color to try. Either these trays are better than I thought possible or he is hiding some serious tray shaking skills.

Jeez I sound like an ad or something but I’m just super excited because I’ve been doing this out of ziplocs and some inferior PET (like typical plastic that the craft and fishing and craft/beads divided storage things is made of) storage trays. This upgrade feels like that time I got an Xbox series S after playing at a slow frame rate for months on my xb1. The box kind of does feel the same too weirdly.

I am still gonna take a break when I lay my last corner on my demon date canvas but I’m suddenly very excited to kit up again! 😍🤍🎧💎

Tips / Tricks / Tools Honest advice

Im pretty new to this but I've fallen in love with it already. I've done a few round projects and I've just started working on my first square canvas (a cheapie to practice before I get some better quality ones). I dont have any bought tools but I am looking to at least upgrade my pen. Im curious as to whether I should invest in a straightener. I like to single place and I dont think that'll change. I'll include a pic for reference on my work. I feel like they're pretty good, but I realize we can be blind to our own weaknesses. Thanks!

Lesson learned. Don't fold your diamond painting into quarters and don't put anything on top of it either.

Tips / Tricks / Tools Idea for using leftover drills

As the title says, an idea for using leftover drills!

I had this thought the other day of how unfinished wooden craft items would be great canvases for drills leftover from kits. This one is a small light up one from the Dollar Tree. I made a small sketch to get an idea of what colors I'd use though I tweaked it here and there depending on how much of the colors I had and vibes lol. I used double sided tape to get the drills on and then sealed it with a 50/50 of water and gloss mod podge.

Pleased with how it turned out ☺️. I'm thinking that at Christmas time I'll use this idea to make ornaments as gifts this year for friends!

Tips / Tricks / Tools How do you store your extra drills?

I'm open to hear about any storage options, but especially anything that minimizes the space used.

Right now I'm staying with a friend, so I don't have a lot of room for craft stuff, but when I have my own place I'm definitely hoping to have a corner devoted to diamond painting. I haven't seen a lot of storage options that aren't huge and clunky.

I'm thinking about binder pockets for coin collections lol
