Tips / Tricks / Tools I'm not doing this again

Post image

Lesson learned. Don't fold your diamond painting into quarters and don't put anything on top of it either.

Always roll them, diamonds facing out.

Oh no. Next time gently roll the canvas drills facing out.

Good to know about facing out. I always roll the drills in.😳

Especially important if you're inclined to do square drills!! They are generally more tightly spaced and thus will pop off the canvas if rolled inward. I roll my canvases out, larger ones around a wrapping paper tube if available, never have a problem.

I usually roll them facing in. What does rolling it facing out do differently?

Rolling drills facing in can cause drills to pop off because they are being squished against each other

It's a lot less important for round drill. I'd still do it, so youre in the habit; but round drills naturally have more space between them.

Square drills, on the other hand....definitely drills out, always.

Do you have the drills to fill this in? I hate to say it but I'm glad somebody else did this first and posted a picture of it.

Yes. I am well organized, so everything is in bags with a painting number—this is number 11—and the DMC number. I also still have the packing list with the symbols.

We all have to learn things sometimes. Rookie mistake but they happen

The rookie mistake was starting diamond painting in the first place :-)

I usually put them in a portfolio but it didn't fit. Now I am gonig to frame it when I repaired it.

Not that it would help with the folding, but if you sealed it, it Might be more durable until you find it a forever home

So I put mod podge on mine and I've only done a couple small ones, but they still roll even with that, so maybe that can help too!

Very good advice, and I’m so sad for you. 😢

All the drills are on the canvas again. Now it needs to lie flat again before sealling and framing.

Use a pants hanger and 3m wall hook to hang on the wall instead

It is a 60 x 60 cm diamond painting. I think that it won't stay flat against the wall.

Oh I meant to get it out of the way and store it

You can use pant hangers and hang them!

Before doing my kit, I put it on a blank painters canvas and staple. This way it’s flat and easy to work on. Any size.

Does that work with a lightpad?

LOL I saw that with my big one but I still kept it like that. No room. I plan to fix it and then seal it before hanging up.

I was dreading fixing it, but it's only took me an hour.

Why facing out?

We’ve all been there! It’s almost painful when you try to unfold it and hours of work gets messed up.

I keep 7-8 small tupperware-type containers with spare drills that I have saved from many kits as extras to use anytime the current painting is short on drills.
