Tips / Tricks / Tools Oh my God I thought y'all were all crazy
These needle nose pliers are easier than the single Placer and I was like thinking before I got them I was like there's no way. And the only reason why I got these was the try glue dots and they are a pain in the ass to load in a single Placer.

đ€Ł I think you joined the crazy. Tweezers are hard asf and slow for me.

I liked using tweezers (the reverse pressure with the angled tip) but i am really really slow so i went back to the single placer. It is a marathon not a sprint! lol

I think it just comes down to you just need a good quality tweezers cuz yes when I first started I tried with the shitty pair I got with one of my kits and as like nope that ain't for me I've never doing that again. LOL and then like I said I got these new ones so I could do glue dots and I just ain't been very successful with glue dots and I was like well what the hell I got these tweezers might as well for shits and giggles I gave the tweezers a go again and it's insanely easy and the tweezers I got are for electronics and crafting.

I'm glad this works for you!
I can't use tweezers for the life of me, unless it's to quickly remove a defective drill from the canvas... I have issues with my thumb and wrist on my dominant hand that prevent me from holding the tweezers for long. Even reverse tweezers cause pain. Besides, my patience is very limited, so it's multiplacers all the way for me.

Same here...ugh...rheumatoid arthritis prevents me from using tweezers, but I love my multiplacers!

Tweezers with squares are so much faster because the edge can be lined up perfectly the first time you place the drill. Single placers for squares seem to always make them JUST crooked enough to drive me nuts. Circle drills with tweezers though? Thatâs nuts.

I do 98% squares but, I agree. Tweezers don't work with rounds. However, if you want to see how far a drill will launch, try tweezers with rounds đ€Ł

Yesterday I was going through my little bag of random dp stuff and I said âoh letâs be careful with the murder tweezersâ to myselfâŠonly to stab my finger with it like 10 seconds later. đ Back to the topic on hand, I love how much the tweezers help with squares. I just donât have the patience for it. lol

I switched to tweezers about 6 or 7 years ago. I was only using it to do the edge lines, but then I started doing the whole thing with it. It took a while to find a pair of tweezers I liked and now I have two. One rounded head soft squeeze ones and the other is not quite pointed. If you look carefully it's actually flat at the top. For me, the key to it is tweezers that aren't too firm to press. If they're too firm your hand will get tired and possibly even hurt. It did take time to work up to using it longer and longer.

really shows that you need the right kinda of needle nose tweezers. I have a pair that have that almost L bend to them and to me they're completely useless. So i use a pair of regular type tweezers and it's really only to pick one up that's already down if we wanna change something like the eye color on a painting or something. these ones have an angle edge but that helps really well.

I use tweezers to pick up or pluck a diamond from the wrong spot, but no way am I doing an entire project with them.

Tweezers changed the whole experience for me! I put it away for a year because I couldn't find a wax or sticky substance that worked for me and pen after pen didn't change that. The level of frustration I had over it was about to ruin diamond art for me. Then I thought let me try tweezers and it's been the easiest application for me, but I know it's definitely not for everyone!

I like using my tweezers, but I don't use them all the time. Just when the section I'm working only needs a few of a color.

Iâm new to this hobby, I see I have much to learn!

Me too I am wondering what glue dots are and where people find pictures with square drills. None of my Amazon searches has ever suggested one.
2
u/Seteva Mar 22 '26
Most of my square paintings have come from Diamond art club. But I have also bought a few off of Amazon!

u/Mistygirl_1 Mar 23 '26
Diamond art club has beautiful square drill paintings. They are much more expensive but just breathtakingly beautiful. Don't buy 6 10 dollar ones for awhile, and get one. I was against spending the money myself until I saw how great they are!!!

Aliexpress has some nice ones. Look for resin drills and reviews with finished pictures.

I have one placer that has a one placer on one side and 2 on the other then one that has a 3 and 4 and I have tweezer as well. I use metal rulers sometimes but some painting spacing is weird and they donât work

u/jbee728 Mar 22 '26
Iâm genuinely confused, youâre using tweezers to place the diamonds?
3
u/ScheduleOne4207 Mar 22 '26
Yes, many, including myself, find multiplacing difficult or unsatisfying, and tweezers work well with square drills.
2
u/jbee728 Mar 23 '26
Ohh Iâve never done a square one!
1
u/ScheduleOne4207 Mar 23 '26
I enjoy them. To me, they are a bit more tedious, it took me twice as long to complete as a round of similar size. That being said, I donât mind it because I enjoy single placing, itâs soothing to my brain.
2
u/jbee728 Mar 24 '26
I donât think I could do tweezers though. The feeling of the diamond against them when I try and remove mess ups makes my skin crawl ha.
2
u/ScheduleOne4207 Mar 24 '26
I get it, but itâs definitely not the same feel when youâre intentionally placing them with the tweezers

I love the tweezers for squares. I find I can place the drills straight much better than the wax placer. I was using the wax placer on my first square canvas and nearly gave up with it until I switched to the tweezers.

My mans tweezers he got in one of those nail clipper kits for Christmas became my art tweezers when I misplace a drill. Sometimes one will fall and land in the sticky part so I pick it up and place it where it should go. I don't think I'd enjoy just using them instead of my pen though.

I got so fed up with replacing and fiddling with wax all the time, now I only use tweezers for squares. Never going back

I do single place with tweezers. And I just finished a moderate sized one of square in 3 weeks? Including doing some customization. The tweezers make all the difference.

u/BobaEverythingBagel Mar 22 '26
I did tweezers only for a bit, but then I started my first 70x90cm and was like, âThereâs no way.â Switched to learning multiplacing and havenât looked back.
As for Glue Dots, I think you should give them another chance. Take a very tiny pinch and use it with a standard single tip youâd find in any cheap kit. The metal on those are thin, so you get the best and most accurate feel for placement. Make sure the ball of glue doesnât overhang or rise above the tip (it should be a tiny bit below), otherwise you will get sticking with the former or sponginess with the latter. If you still get sticking, rub the tip against your shirt to mix in a little bit of lint. With the perfect amount, one ball of glue can last you months if your drills arenât dirty. You also get the most satisfying pop when you release, lol.

I prefer single placer for rounds, tweezers for my squares. Works much better for my perfectionist self
1
u/AteslaArlo Mar 22 '26
I prefer tweezers for the square drills, and a single placer for round drills. Occasionally, Iâll bust out a multi placer for bigger round drill canvases. And Iâve gotten pretty good with placing multiple square drills with tweezers, it just takes a lot of patience and a steady hand.
1
u/abbymwah Mar 22 '26
this is how i do it! drills sometimes fling because it looses its grip, but this is my preferred method :))
1
u/LostintheLand Mar 23 '26
Side note: Iâm working on the same canvas as you. Itâs my first square drill actually. I find it very satisfying. I donât like that some of the diamonds have a rougher texture. Not the AB drills however they are similar.

Square drill dp. I ordered a square drill kit. To my surprise, I got a pen for round drills in my square drill kit. Did anyone get a square drill pen in a square drill kit?
1
u/sdragte Mar 21 '26
I love using tweezers! I never use my pen. I multi-place using tweezers too, you're gonna love it!

The pointed "Needle", tweezers are a pain to use. I found an old flat end tweezer that I can use a whole heck of a lot better, I got tired of getting blood spots getting on my canvases from getting jabbed by the points.

One by one with a tweezers? You joined the crazy.
