Tips / Tricks / Tools I received my organizers today!

I was so excited when these arrived! I spent the last 3ish hours unboxing and transferring drills into these new bins. It took awhile because I had to cut and place each piece of yellow washi tape (for easy removal when I am finished) and place each custom sticker label on top.

I designed, printed, and cut the labels myself because this kit only came with a poorly placed guide on the BACK of the canvas 😅 Fortunately I very much enjoy designing these systems and it was super satisfying when it all came together!

I’m genuinely so excited to dive back into this painting now, but I have to make myself stop and go make dinner or else I’ll sit here all night lol. Was just so excited to share because I don’t have any friends who are into the hobby!

These are the organizers I got: https://a.co/d/0arCzwxE and the diamond painting is Cat With Flowers from the spring shop at Hobby Lobby ✨🐈💕

Wow, I'm so impressed! I don't kno where to start.

That washi tape idea is brilliant. When I use washi tape to section off my canvas, sometimes it doesn't stick. So the fact that you used it to remove the labels later is so smart. The whole setup looks so neat.

The trays are nice. If it wasn't for the fact that I'm horribly addicted to my 3D trays, I would so get those kinda containers. Then one wouldn't have to go searching for additional trays.

Next, I, too get so excited doing diamond painting that I don't wanna eat. I have sessions from 2-4+ hrs. so I tend to eat before. It would b nice if I had a retreat to go to, or even somebody else to do this hobby with sometimes, but nobody else I kno does it. All by myself 🎶....

The kitty is a good choice. Is it already mounted? I think that's great. You can just hang it up when finished 😍

Lastly, welcome to yr new addiction whether this is yr 1st dp or not. I hope you get to enjoy this craft for a loooong time✨️💎🎨

Holy cow, this reply made my night, seriously! You are too kind! 🌈💗

Yes the washi tape peels off them so easily! I didn’t want to risk the normal sticker adhesive, but it was sooo tedious putting 30 tapes and then 30 stickers on lol. But worth it.

I was so impressed with these containers specifically because each one has its own removable mini tray 😮 So if you want to shake some on the white tray, and then tilt the extra into the bottom section, it keeps it super clean! What do you mean by 3d trays? Like 3d printed ones? I saw a lot of cool options when researching.

I need to start eating earlier so I can dedicate hours to my painting too hahah!! And I feel you, I have been lurking on this subreddit for a couple weeks and I feel this community is so welcoming and friendly. Feels like a lot of great connections to be made here :) Perhaps we can keep in touch as we progress through our paintings and personal journeys 💌

Yes the cat actually came on a canvas! It’s super convenient, and I will be displaying it in my room once finished. I already have 3 more kits on the way right now (custom photos actually!), that will also be going on my wall. Gonna slowly fill up these empty walls 😝

Thank you again for kind message! 🥹 It is my first painting hehe, and I’m soo happy I randomly found this cozy little hobby and community 💗 I hope you have a great Friday night!

Thx for YOUR

kind words. I've been doing this craft for bout 5-6 years. But I do other crafts, too so I don't get to do a lot of canvases per year. I just started doing coasters. Those are fun!!! My first dp projects were bookmarks from Amazon, even tho I already bought dps. Go figure :-)

My trays are from the Etsy website. My 3D trays are from My 3DDesigns by Dan. The pic shows you 3 of the 4 I got from him. Sometimes I hold my trays (the kidney-shaped one especially) & all are comfy to hold.

I use a gray tray from my first Michael's project (bookmarks) & an older tray from my 1st DAC pic. As you can tell, I use the first trays from different companies😀 I'm cool like that 😎

We won't discuss the pens I have, 15+ but I like to match my cover minder & pens & wax/putty to my canvas. Etsy "made" me buy some pens...that's my story & I'm sticking to it. I've made some, too.

Have fun w/this new hobby & I hope yr weekend goes well 😎

THOSE TRAYS ARE SO FUN!! Wow I especially love that sun one ☀️✨😍 It reminds me of princess Celestia’s cutie mark LOL!! 💗 My girlfriend actually 3D prints and enjoys designing too so I might have to take some inspo for my own custom tray(s) 🤭 Thank you for sharing yours :)

Also 6 years? 😳 Dang I got a lot of catching up to do LOL!

Also I can’t even lie, I love the idea of matching tool colors and themes to each other and the painting. It’s all part of the satisfaction and experience 😎 You should see my room lol.

I’m excited/anxious for my first “traditional” dp canvas, like ones that are not already mounted on the frame like this one. Those are the kind I have otw right now. Thankfully, the new trays have been treating me good. I think I’m set up for success here 👏🏻🖌️💕

From someone else who never has friends interested in the same hobbies you did a great job here.

4

u/imgonnaquittonight Mar 28 '26

Thank you so much 🥹 I just checked out your posts and your finished paintings look beautiful. You have great taste!

5

u/mdhx3 Mar 28 '26

Nice!!! This is my dream setup! I can’t wait to see the kitty done, I can tell it’s going to be pretty!!!

8

u/imgonnaquittonight Mar 28 '26

Thank you so much!! I’m not sure what your current setup is, but if you ever have a kit that doesn’t come with the sticker labels, I would be so happy and willing to make you some custom ones like mine and mail ‘em to you in a normal letter envelope with a stamp (they’re super thin!). No pressure at all, I just genuinely enjoy designing them and would love to help you fulfill that dream 🥹

2

u/mdhx3 Mar 28 '26

You’re too sweet! Right now I have a little cheapy kit from five below that I’m getting by with, but when I upgrade I’m definitely interested! I don’t have many friends, period lol so I really appreciate the offer!!!

u/Realistic-Basil3645 Mar 29 '26

can you give me directions on how to do this. I have both a Silhouette Cameo and a cricut. Just need general guidance. I would actually love to figure out how to make labels with the symbols only. Thanks in advance

1

u/imgonnaquittonight Mar 29 '26

For sure! ✨ Can you dm me?

4

u/BJntheRV Mar 28 '26

These trays make the process so much more enjoyable to me. I didn't realize how annoying itvwss to pour back and forth between Baggies and my one decent tray until I had easy access to every color all the time.

5

u/imgonnaquittonight Mar 28 '26

YESSS I am so looking forward to this! Especially in heavy confetti sections 🎉

3

u/Meiska Mar 28 '26

Thank you so much for sharing your process. I was wondering how to do stickers. Thanks for the link to the organizer too. I'm brand new to the hobby and these posts help so much!

3

u/imgonnaquittonight Mar 28 '26

Of course, no problem, I’m glad I could inspire you!

For these custom label stickers, I took pictures of the kit’s legend on my phone and sent them to my computer. I designed them on photoshop but Canva is a free alternative you can access on any web browser and is more than capable of designing something like this 🙂‍↕️ Basically the idea is to cut out the symbols from your photo and make your own numbers in the program. Then you’d just line up each cut out symbol next to its corresponding number!

Printing them out, you can probably use any normal printer. The only special thing is the sticker paper, but you can order that anywhere or even buy at craft stores. I personally used cheap matte (not shiny/glossy) white sticker paper.

And then for cutting, I opted to use my cutting machine (I have the Juliet Siser but other options are Cricut, Silhouette, etc), but honestly for these simple rectangle shapes, you could use scissors!

So you’d need to design the labels in some photo editing program, print them out on any sticker paper (I prefer matte white), and then cut them out with scissors or a cutting machine.

I also said this in another comment, I’m more than happy to design and mail you (normal letter and stamp mail) some custom labels if you have a kit you’d like them for! I enjoy the process and it’s pretty easy for me to make 🥹💗

Oh I love your new container trays! Total game changers!!!!!

5

u/Hot-Blood-6795 Mar 28 '26

I’m so happy for you, I totally understand where you’re coming from!! I love my Bella trays and tray towers, I kit up with them and work from them to!! It really makes your dp experience even better when you find a new tool or tray that you use and love!! Yours are cool! Here’s mine, I have like 153 trays in 3 different sizes and all kinds of colors and designs!! They are my babies!! lol 💖💎🖼✨💯😊👍

2

u/imgonnaquittonight Mar 28 '26

WOW the rainbow of your trays is amazing!!! 😍🌈✨ And the labels, on point!!!

Also random but I’m obsessed with the dill pickle sunflower seeds too LMAOAOAO

2

u/Hot-Blood-6795 Mar 30 '26

Lol I'm so addicted to those dill seeds, it's crazy (⊙_◎) lol The company I buy my trays from releases new colors and patterns every week!!! It's brilliant on their part, I've had 4 separate orders in 1 month before!! Ilmao I only have 153 small, large and max trays!! Lol 😹not another addiction at all!! Lol

u/EngineeringSweaty529 Mar 28 '26

I have these same organizers and I LOVE them. I stick my stickers straight on there and haven't had any issues removing them but have only tried pre printed stickers

1

u/imgonnaquittonight Mar 28 '26

Omg i knoooww right, the mini trays are genius. I will try testing my sticker labels right on them, and hopefully I could cut out the washi tape step, too. Thank you for the tip!

3

u/EngineeringSweaty529 Mar 28 '26

The stickers you made are stunning tho. How did u get the right symbols on the program. Did you just take a picture of the legend?

6

u/imgonnaquittonight Mar 28 '26

Aww, thank you! 🥹 Yes, I took a few photos on my phone of the legend on the canvas and sent the photos to my computer. In photoshop I made the rectangles and numbers myself. I cut out the symbols from the photos, and pasted them on my rectangles. Lastly I printed them out on sticker paper and cut them with my cutting machine. Definitely satisfied my DIY itch tonight!

4

u/EngineeringSweaty529 Mar 28 '26

Wow that is brilliant 👏

3

u/Alarming-Entrance-27 Mar 28 '26

Again, I'm in awe....I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy👀😳🤯

3

u/UnicornerCorn Mar 28 '26

A slightly easier way to do this could be to get a Bluetooth label maker that you can print your own images on. I just so happened to get one as a house warming gift and it has this option for me.

3

u/EngineeringSweaty529 Mar 28 '26

Oooh. Drop a name/link of one?

3

u/UnicornerCorn Mar 28 '26 edited Mar 28 '26

This is the one I use. It has an app that lets you customize a lot of different things like size, position, font, etc. The only thing I don’t like about it is that there’s a subscription for additional icons, fonts, etc.

This is it in action. The labels just so happens to be the perfect size to fit on the RedTwo storage containers! You can also buy different colored labels as well. It’s pretty fun to use. It’s also very easy to peel off the labels as well too, so you don’t have to worry about them getting stuck.

3

u/EngineeringSweaty529 Mar 28 '26

Nice. Is there a way to send a photo to do the symbols in color or something or is it only black and white

2

u/UnicornerCorn Mar 28 '26

Unfortunately, it’s only black and white. I think you’d have to use OP’s printer method or sharpies to have color.

3

u/AgeNo9035 Mar 28 '26

Ohh I love these labels!! (And the storage containers..! ) I'm making my own right now using a tictac style storage container. It works great, but this type would be Soo nice to have for so many reasons..lol.

3

u/UnicornerCorn Mar 28 '26

The RedTwo storage containers are a serious game changer. I love how there’s two layers inside the containers, so you always have a clear space to pick up drills because any extra drills will be shook underneath the first layer. So all you have to do is pick up your container, shake it, and diamond paint. No more dumping drills back and forth between your tray and the storage container. It reduces the chances of spilling as well because you’re working out of where they’re stored. It’s definitely an upgrade to think about!

4

u/AgeNo9035 Mar 28 '26

I actually ordered some after seeing these earlier! 😂 Super excited to get them and reorganize the drills! It's awesome to have people that are this excited about this stuff as I am, lol, I have no one in real life that likes doing these as much as I do, I just recently even thought of finding a reddit page on the diamond painting stuff, and have found so many tips and tricks here, and now new storage containers!! 💓

2

u/imgonnaquittonight Mar 28 '26

Omg yours are beautiful! You are the second person to say they put the stickers right on the organizers and it comes right off… I’m totally trying it now! 😝

Also the font looks just like my favorite one I recognized it right away :0 Is it Violet Smile??

Also I wish we could diamond paint together 😭✨💗

2

u/UnicornerCorn Mar 28 '26

Thank you!! It was really fun to label everything and customize it.

I’m not quite sure what the font is called since the label maker app simply calls all of them, “font”.

Yes!!! I would love to have a diamond painting buddy.

u/scribbles987 Mar 28 '26

The trays look awesome, but just another thing that isn't going to happen when I live in Australia. Not with shipping at nearly $58 on Amazon and I have prime

1

u/imgonnaquittonight Mar 28 '26

OMG? that is a criminal price I’m so sorry 😭 Is it $58 total including shipping or separate? Either way that’s a lot. Mine ended up being $31 usd with tax and shipping (free). I hope you can find an alternative! Does Australia have options for this stuff?

1

u/scribbles987 Mar 28 '26

$58 total I'd be happy with given I was looking at the set of 60. But when shipping costs more than the the actual item it's a definite no from me.

1

u/imgonnaquittonight Mar 28 '26

😨😨😨 yeah that’s a no go!

2

u/Scrubtech-123 Mar 28 '26

I also have one of these diamond paintings from HL and I hate that the chart is printed on the back! Love this idea!

2

u/imgonnaquittonight Mar 28 '26

RIIIIGHT?! At first I just took a photo of it on my phone and kept that open and close by. Then I graduated to printing out a picture of it so I didn’t use up my phone battery LOL

2

u/hwiginton Mar 28 '26

I’m so jealous!!!

2

u/PhotographOk5093 Mar 28 '26

I adore the redtwo containers. I bought them an hour into working on my first diamond painting and they’ve made such a massive difference in the process.

2

u/books_cats_psych Mar 28 '26

Love your set-up. The cat is beautiful when done. One of my favorites.

2

u/Snoo30966 Mar 28 '26

Nice kind of wish I had seen this before I got my organizer. There are 120 bottles that hold 2000 but wow 8000 and it looks easier to use to not have to always pour into the trays and back. Maybe at some point I'll upgrade to something like this.

1

u/imgonnaquittonight Mar 28 '26

Honestly I was considering this style of organization too. 120 bottles is great for even more unique colors, mine is 60. I considered if part of me would actually miss the pouring/changing process because to me that is fun and satisfying in itself. I am just starting out though, so definitely got to give it time to feel this system out. I think if I had a great tray, I’d quite enjoy the bottle system you have. They look great, anyway!

2

u/Snoo30966 Mar 28 '26

I don't really need the 120 but I needed about 50 or so these hold 2000 so I had to use up to 3 for each drill dmd I labelee them A B C. It works they're screw on. One was damaged though good thing I have plenty of extra.

2

u/Asleep_City9024 Mar 28 '26

These made confetti work, which I personally love, SO much easier. The days of pouring into and out of trays is gone!

Thank you for posting how you make your own labels as well!

2

u/ReasonableBarnacle23 Mar 29 '26

Your excitement really bursts through your post! Quite an inspiration.

Instead of washi tape, I go low and use whatever clear adhesive tape I have on hand. I make a teensy tab so it is easier to grab and peel when dekitting. Then I put it on the little plastic bag it goes on, with a fresh piece of tape on top.

2

u/imgonnaquittonight Mar 29 '26

Thank you!! The tab idea is really smart 😮😁

Also that silver glitter tape is so pretty. Can you explain the washi tape (or whichever kind that is) around the border? I see people do it to traditional canvas dp’s and i have some on the way so curious what it’s for

2

u/ReasonableBarnacle23 Mar 29 '26

I started doing it when I first worked square drills. I find it helpful starting the first row.

A much bigger reason is there is almost always some overflow of adhesive all around the design. Aside from sticking to hands and other things while you work, it picks up lint, dust, animal fur, crumbs... it looks pretty gross.

I am a sucker for sparkles, like most DP fans, so I browsed Amazon for sparkly washi tape. No idea how it was listed, but here is the original label. It is unfortunately a bit sticky on the top, but tolerable.

1

u/Pretty-Profit-9542 Mar 28 '26

Nice. I've been using Forever Young XL containers.

I have the same ones along with some from ARTDOT (clear ones) and another set from Amazon (pink ones). I haven't unboxed these yet.
