Question What are we watching/listening?

Hello all,

I recently had a medical episode that will keep me essentially bedridden for weeks if not months. My silver lining is that my small stash will be completed, yay! I just need something to listen to while I paint.

What would you suggest??

Pic for interest.

Question Am I crazy for doing things this way?? Please give me advice

1st pic- current painting

last pic- first painting (the gift that got me into this hobby!!)

I'm on my fourth diamond painting now, and whenever I see people's WIPs I get so confused. Does pretty much everybody work on their paintings section by section?? Am I doing something wrong??

I go color-by-color one color at a time and have fun scanning the whole painting from top to bottom to find EVERYWHERE I need to place that color. I use a sheet of parchment paper to cover where my arms rest, and shift it down as I complete "rows." Am I going to regret doing things this way when it comes to big paintings??

How do you all switch from color to color so much for your little square sections you do?? Are you constantly going from baggie to baggie to change colors?? Are you dumping out the little packets into baggies immediately to make them easier to get in and out of?? I don't have enough baggies to do that, so should I order more??

I'm so curious because I think I'm doing this wrong. (╥﹏╥) And if this is a bad habit I should put an end to, I'd like to stop it!! I'm just kind of unsure how you guys are doing this. Sorry for being dumb!! (´;ω;`) Please help me...

Question I'm curious

When you finish a diamond painting, what do you do with the leftover drills? I diamond paint as a hobby, I'm not trying to get fancy with the spices, so i have a really simple process. I seal off the painting so i don't have to worry about any drills falling off once I hang them up (or put them away in my portfolio depending) then I empty all the remaining drills into a jar. I don't like the idea of throwing them away cause DP has enough plastic waste as is, so i make my own confetti to eventually use for different crafts like gluing them to glass candle jars, vases, etc. So because I love learning about how other people do things; what do YOU do, and if you're comfortable sharing, WHY do you do it that way?

Question Redtwo trays: yes or no?

Post image

I’m planning to buy the Redtwo storage trays because you can keep all your drills in them while also having the floating tray to separate out a select portion of drills for active painting.

Is there any reason why I should NOT buy them?

Question What am I doing wrong? My OCD is crying!

The first image is the straightest I can possibly get it but I think it only looks good because it’s white on white. It seems like they’re different sizes but maybe it’s just me?

The other images you can see the white behind the diamonds but no matter how many times I use the straighter, they go right back to where they were!!

Am I doing something wrong, or is this a low quality one?

Question Diamond Art Club customer service won’t respond

Hello!

Diamond Art Club customer service is ignoring my messages through facebook messenger and through email. I am trying to make a warranty claim. If I can avoid the BBB route I’d prefer that. I have asked the customer service to escalate to a supervisor, but I haven’t received any communication since 1/8. Has anybody had a similar experience and ended up with a positive resolution?

My canvas Slow Night has had drills popping off. I’m about a quarter to a third of the way done. I asked about it on FB messenger, they suggested I buy their adhesive. I wasn’t pleased with that solution, as I’ve already invested a lot of money in this craft and I am disabled. They told me I could return my canvas to them so they can inspect it if I believe it is a manufacturing defect. They said if they determine it isn’t a manufacturing defect that they will send me an invoice to pay for shipping. I thanked them and left it at that while I looked into my options.

After reviewing the lifetime warranty online, I sent an email to customer service with the details. They again suggested I purchase adhesive, and offered to inspect the canvas for manufacturing defects. I decided to do the return process and asked to get a shipping label. They stated that the shipping for the inspection was my responsibility. At that point I asked them how they determined if it was a manufacturing defect, as I don’t want to waste money, time, and energy returning an item for no reason. They stated that there is no documentation regarding that determination. They get the canvas and evaluate it using an internal process and there is no way for customers to get information about it. I objected to the process, including having to pay more money to use the warranty, and the next email just reiterated their prior response. I went and reviewed the warranty again, and noticed that it listed “adhesive issues” and drills falling off, but it did not specify that these issues needed to be a manufacturing defect. I sent a message to that effect. No response.

The next morning someone posted in the VIP Group that their canvas wasn’t sticky either. I commented my experience. I was banned from the group. This is honestly a very bizarre experience. There was nothing in my communications to warrant this reaction. I sent an email and fb messenger summarizing the situation and again requesting to speak to a supervisor.

Nothing.

Slow Night was $67.99! I don’t want to keep doing it if the drills are going to pop back off. Does anyone have any advice about what to so?

TLDR: DAC painting has quality issue and customer service isn’t responding to my claim

Question Help me choose a pen: A or B

Thumbnail

A) purple $12.99
https://a.co/d/0d5HLv85

B) pink $8.99
https://a.co/d/02Wl3BAX
*I’m not worried about the getting the extra long placer, since it looks like both options go up to a 9 and that’s plenty for me

This will be my first pen (that doesn’t come with a cheap kit). They’ve been sitting in my cart forever. Im frozen and just need to pull the trigger.

I want thin placer edges, cause I know the bulkier the edge the harder it is to place drills flush against each other.

Thanks for helping me guys!
This is my favorite new hobby and I love this community!!

EDIT: Wow! This is the most individual responses I’ve ever gotten to a post!
I’ll reply to everyone soon (I’m on my last section of my WIP) but the decision has been made: Option A!
On top of the purple color being beautiful, the tips should be thinner. Lots of positive reviews in the comments 👍🏼👍🏼

2nd EDIT: Okay I actually went with Option C recommended by mortuarymeri in the comments. It’s the same as A but 2 more pens and a straightener - we love a straightener!!

Question Does anyone set a limit to their stash size?

I have the biggest stash I've ever had at 26 and it's so overwhelming that I had to set my first and only goal. It is to not buy any more paintings until my stash is at 15 or less. If you set a limit... what's your ideal number to have in your stash? No stash shaming... I'm just curious what others do.

Question Bored.

Be honest… does anyone else hit the halfway mark on a diamond painting and immediately start fantasizing about abandoning it for a shiny new one? Or am I the only chaos demon here? 😂

Context: I’ve got FOUR gorgeous DACs giving me the side-eye, fully ready to go… while I’m stuck halfway through another one that I swear I loved a week ago. They’re all beautiful, but my brain is out here acting like a kid in a candy store: ‘But what if we started THAT one instead?’ ‘It has glow in the dark drillssssss!”

The moment I try to ‘be responsible’ and power through, it turns into a full-on chore and my soul leaves my body. 😭✨

Please tell me I’m not the only one with diamond painting commitment issues!

✌🏻♥️🌮

Question Advice and help.

Greetings everyone,

I am an artist. I'm thinking of making diamond paintings from my art.

l'Il be artist / humans first and strictly non-a///i brand.

As an artist myself, I'm thinking of drawing a lot of designs too.

I'm here to ask some advice and information from the direct consumers.

It'd be immensely appreciated if you all tell me your frequent complaints, things that bug you in diamond painting kits, what you wish companies would do / incorporate, any advice you want to give me.

I plan to be an affordable to expensive brand where options for beginners to pros exist, I don't plan to cut costs on quality.

Thank you and looking forward to any advice given!

So, I discovered this happy little secret message in my project, and debating whether or not to keep it exposed? I wonder if I could get "clear" gems to use instead, because I seriously "love" it, lol!

Question Cheap Square Kit Brand Recommendations?

Post image
25 Upvotes

I have a few round WIPs and a few in my "stock" but I recently did a square kit and fell in love. I want to grab a few to have in my stock, so I can work on them whenever.

Issue is, I'm a disabled college student. So money is TIGHT. Being entirely honest, I don't think I've spent more than $12 on a kit so far. And especially if I'm hoping to buy multiple, I can't really afford to spend more than that right now. I've heard though that with squares it's a lot bigger of a deal if there's trash drills, canvas sizing issues, etc. And I don't want to get part way through a kit and just be constantly having issues.

So I'm looking for specific brand/manufacturer recommendations. Either on Temu, Aliexpress, Amazon, or wherever else. Places that have a reputation for having nice quality square drill kits for really good prices. Bonus points if you know they usually use letters/numbers instead of symbols. Extra bonus points for brands that also do square customs for good prices.

I don't need or want any fancy AB drills or whatever, or massive sizes. I'd prefer no AI, but understand that's probably out of my budget right now. I especially like anything with animals (poodles & calicos especially), mid-century modern or retro styles, plants/flowers, geese/ducks, or groovy/disco.

(Photo of my dog laying on my lap, distracting me from doing diamond painting, so this post doesn't get lost lol)

Question Newbie Question…

Post image
51 Upvotes

So… I finally pulled the trigger and started working on my very first kit… I thought I’d chosen a “doable” size to be my virgin kit, but I was overwhelmed by the tiny drills and the number of colors it came with lol… But anyway, I got over that and finally started. The tiny section on the bottom left is what I’ve accomplished so far.

I wanted to keep things simple accessory-wise, so started with the little ziplock bags… Marking them with codes, trying to draw the symbols as best as I could, etc… But it was taking too much time, so I bought 1 container(?) of 46 colors (I think). But my kit came in 83 colors. My question is - what do you usually do in this case? Is buying another container the only answer? 🥲

Question Does anybody else do this?

Post image

Hey!

So my current diamond painting has ALOT of black, theres been two sections where it’s been JUST black. Super tedious imo.

The first section took me like…2 weeks to finish because I hated it so much now ive stumbled on another fully black spot. A week before I have to gift it to my friend.

Anyone else section off larger areas to make it less difficult to do?

Question OMG! First time setting up for a DAC painting and I’m so irritated.

These drills are the MOST staticky drills I’ve EVER worked with. I get a lot from Amazon that are staticky, but not THIS bad. I typically use dryer sheets, but I hate the film left on the drills. So I’ve been using wet paper towels to wet the drills after I get them in the containers. It’s time consuming, but it really does work. Just wondering if there’s a faster method for this one because there are huge packages of 2-3 colors.
