My bf stuck a magazine down on my canvas. Now it’s ruined. I’m absolutely devastated. I got this kit 4yrs ago and don’t even know if it’s possible to replace it.
Yes! Baby wipes to the rescue! Absolutely use them to peel off the paper. Then if not enough "sticky" is left? Simply use Diamond Dotz stick to that area. It's super easy to use. Worth the expense IMO!
Oh it's totally fixable. Just use the baby wipes fresh & it'll work fine. There's plenty in a package, don't be stingy in using a new fresh baby wipe. IDK if it's the wetness that does the trick, but think so.
My husband once spilt an entire 2 liter of Mountain Dew on one of my canvases. After that, I learned that canvases are surprisingly resilient. Baby wipes can get stuck stuff off, and make dry glue sticky again. If it gets wet, dry it off to the best of your ability and once it dries use diamond dotz stick. If you accidentally cut the canvas with a craft knife, duct tape on the back works great.
Thats the exact reason I do not pull the clear sheet off entirely! I peel it back to work and then when stopping for any amount of time I fix the sheet back over it in place.
Maybe do that in the future? ❤️
I have a husky that sheds even when temps are subfreezing. I cover mine with pieces of wax paper I cut out to form patches so Im only exposing what I plan to dot in one sitting.
You can use baby wipes! I’d lay one over it and moisten it with that.. then try and roll off as much as you can. It might take a bit of work but it can be done. Then if necessary once the magazine is removed, you can use an adhesive like ‘Ailene’s Tack it Over’ and be good to go!
Thanks . I see I forgot to ask my actual question but you guys answered it anyway. My bf on way for baby wipes, pizza and wine cuz he knows he f-kd up and it’s going to be a long night lol. I’ve been warning him for years. Now he understands why I get worked up. Anyway I’m hoping to salvage this kit as it’s ab and I really love it
All is not lost. Once you follow some of the advice to get the paper off, Amazon sells all kinds of double sided adhesive sheets, tapes and glue that you can use. I would imagine the sheets would be easier to use as you can lay them down and peel as you work, but you can test what works for you.
Glad to see you got suggestions to fix this! Men! When we moved to another house years ago, we were getting rid of clutter. Well, my husband accidentally threw out 20 years worth of sewing patterns that were in boxes. He thought they were old papers! He felt awful and I lost so many patterns and had to start over. 😥
Thanks. I’m going to have to use original artwork to guide me on some of it. Also going to have to use glue on some but I think I might be able to salvage it.
People have offered good suggestions below. It's not unusual for someone's cat to sit on their canvas or for paper to get stuck on it. Baby wipes to the rescue! If the glue loses its stickiness, there are several brands of glue available in craft stores that you can pour or paint on the canvas so it's as good as new.
To avoid this happening again, I suggest cutting the plastic cover into sections of the size you work at a time. I section it off using washi tape (masking tape works, too) and cut along the tape's edge. A ceramic-bladed craft knife works well, and unlike an X-acto, you can't cut yourself with it. A caution: Be careful NOT to replace the plastic upside-down if you need to re-cover a section; the top side sticks very tightly to the glue. I put a sticker on it before peeling it off.
I like your idea of marking cover with a sticker. Can’t believe I never thought of that lol. wish they included the information about the plastic cover or have it marked in some way. I ruined my 2nd kit because of the plastic sticking. Like the diamond dots covers because it doesn’t matter what side you use. I had that end uncovered because I was working on it. He brought the mag over to show me something and dropped it on the canvas before realizing it wasn’t covered. Thankfully I was able to save it and will be posting an update tomorrow. 😊
From what I've read on here, the cats just get up and walk away, leaving some hairs on the DP -- they don't get up to find the canvas stuck to their fur and then tear frantically around trying to run away from it (as a friend's cat did when it got tangled in the strings tying a couple of helium balloons together; the poor thing finally ran upstairs and under a bed, where the balloons got stuck.)
Omg 😳 yeah my cat, I mean assistant, is super jumpy so that would not go over well. I can just imagine the violent tornado he'd cause & me having to chase after him to get it off. So long to that diamond painting lol 😂 That exact scenario is why I only remove the plastic of a 2"x2" space & if I have to go anywhere I cover it with release paper 😂😂🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️He just looks like trouble is his middle name!
Yes. I wrote an update post. I got it off with baby wipes and tweezers. Unfortunately the print from the magazine left an imprint on canvas ( similar to newspaper and silly putty. ) it makes it kinda hard to see the underlying grid and some spots are completely illegible. I’m using the original artwork to help guide me. It’s not gonna be perfect but so far it’s looking ok. One perk of it being square is it covers the canvas better. The edges can be covered by washi. I really didn’t expect such great results.
I love the help you can get from the great ppl on this app, in this sub!! "Diamond Art Royalty"!!!! (I don't need this tip at the moment but I'm filing it away!!
I know it’s a great community! The great advice saved my relationship lol. Unfortunately the print from the mag transferred to the glue like silly putty. I’m going to try and use the original artwork to guide me in drill placement. He said he would replace it if I find it but I’m going to try and fix this one in the meantime as a challenge. If I fix it he’s still buying me a new one so I can get something else than.
Time to breakup 💔 absolutely not. Throw the whole man away. Jk. But I sincerely hope he apologized. I’m sure there is a way to get it up. Praying you don’t have to scrap the whole thing.
He’s licensed with Dreamer Designs if you’re ready for a more advanced canvas. I haven’t bought anything in awhile because I’m working on my stash. Just browse.
This is really cool. I was just looking at his kits. So many great ones. I really love the shining twins. He’s buying me a new kit even if I salvage this one so I’m going to order one of his.
Just wipe it down with a baby wipe and get it pretty soaked and just start wiping it will come off make take some time but it will I had done this plenty of times 😬 but once it’s all off leave it open so it can dry and the glue will be as good as new.

Peel as much as you can off and then use baby wipes to remove the rest. If the glue comes off it can be replaced with diamond dotz stick.
