I don't understand why vegans complain that cows are so bad for the environment but then also get mad at us when we kill and eat them. If they are actually bad for the environment, isn't it the best idea to eat a lot of them?

I am engaged to a girl who was vegan even before our relationship started. I didn't think it was a problem because I like her a lot, I was very much in love, and at the beginning of our relationship, I wasn't thinking about family, moving in together, children, etc. After the proposal, I started thinking about the family and kids scenario, and I began to panic and feel disappointed with her. Her dogmatism is so deeply rooted inside her that she was hospitalized for two weeks due to a health problem brought on by her diet, and she refused to eat meat, telling the doctors that she would rather die.

Eventually, I brought up what would happen in this case, and after some arguments between us, she concluded that she would let the kids eat everything and wouldn't brainwash them. However, while she is pregnant, she will continue to be vegan just like now, and she won't cook meat; instead, I will have to do it, or we will have to find it another way. I don't think this (meaning two people cooking at the same time) is feasible, and I’ve started thinking that we won't be able to live together this way. Not to mention, I don't know if she will change her mind at that moment and do something else.

She is crying and telling me that I tricked her, that I've now regretted it and want to dump her, and that I am terrible for what I'm doing. What should I do? What do you advise? Will we last being married together? What solutions are there?

Recently Ive read a post by Dairyisntscary on tumblr, who currently goes by a different username, saying that there are things they think are wrong with industrial husbandry practices, and that they hate how cows dont really "get the whole cow experience" on large-scale dairy farms.

They've said that they "don’t believe that we can argue that cows on large dairies get their “freedom to display natural behaviors” in any sense and I don’t think it’s fair to them at all."

This felt a bit jarring to me, because previously theyve stated that there is no real correlation between animal welfare and the size of the dairy farm, large farms can have good welfare while small farms can have bad welfare. And for much of the time theyve been on tumblr, their position has been that animal welfare on dairy farms arent really as bad as vegan activists make them out to be, though even back then they still admitted that there are improvements that can be made.

To people who work in dairy farming: what's your opinion on the general animal welfare in dairy farming, and is there anything that can be improved? Do you share Scout's (Dairyisntscary's nickname) feelings on the state of animal welfare in dairyfarming?

I mean no hate towards the OP, and I think theyre reasonable, but would still like some perspectives on what they said here.

I want to know if you think, or has had a civil discussion with a vegan that led to realizing where your views align welfare-wise.

Ive talked to a vegan regarding animal rights vs welfare and although our conversation was quite civil, it didn't really change my perspective. They brought up long-debunked sources like "livestock's long shadow", the Poore and Nemececk study, talked about "factory farms" as a scary buzzword, claims that beekeepers exploit bees.

According to themselves, they became vegan after watching Earthling Eds video on dairy farming.

In short, the vegan I talked to had good intentions, but I feel that they are severely misinformed when it comes to the reality of what animal agriculture is like, and fell for a grifter.

They've gathered enough signatures to put the petition on the ballot. The measure bans all hunting, fishing, operating a poultry business, and bans the slaughtering of livestock for food. It also bans all scientific testing that involves animals.

This is the first step towards the Vegan communities' ultimate goal which is to make all meat illegal. They're effectively trying to police what you can eat and force you to be Vegan by law. This just pisses me off to no end.

A woman, looked 50 approached and started talking to her about the meat industry, she gets really graphic with it Including how cows are 'raped' to a fucking 7 year old child. I heard her and immediately took my sister home.

I took a bite of my strips right in front of her face to piss her off, if you want to peacefully protest or advertise veganism? Be my guest! Your welcome to, but don't go around doing shit like this.

I’ve been following her for years. I was vegan for 18 years until my health broke down from lack of essential nutrients. I was taking all the appropriate supplements and carefully diet planning but I was still deficient in iron, b12 and D. Until I finally started eating meat again.

People like her don’t take into account that we are all individuals with different genetics. I cannot be vegan and be healthy. That’s the simple fact. With each new vid I see of her she looks more and more ill. It’s troubling.

So I was just reading a discussion about ice cream and the vegan had to step in and say sorbet is much better than ice cream because it's made without milk, and therefore you don't need to masturbate the cow tits. Like how can you look at milking a cow and see it as masturbating wtf. Even human women who have too much breath milk have to milk themselves otherwise they will get fevers and stuff. Milking tits so the excess milk comes out is not a sexual thing and you're not masturbating a cow, wtf.
