General Discussion This scene in the last episode felt like a callback to the very first scene of the pilot, as if Rick was emotionally at S1E1 again (while being Ted)

+ The drunk talking of the earlier seasons and the dripping alcohol out of his mouth again. After all the growth, defeating the nemesis, all the adventures, all the therapy, all the family development, he’s still sitting there carrying the same pain. They say it happens every season, yet this time it's even more depressing.

Even crashing through the garage roof was a callback.

General Discussion i wish we had a beth and morty episode

Post image
569 Upvotes

i think they are by far the least explored smith dynamic in the show, with the exception of maybe summer and jerry

hear me out

beth once explicitly stated that summer is her favorite, and the show immediately pretended it never happened. i get that morty forgot it because of the mindblowers, and maybe summer and beth forgot too, but its still an inner belief of beth. we never explored how she feels about morty on a deeper level, but we had plenty of episodes focusing on her relationship with summer

also prime beth said that her life without both rick and morty was happier. like, i get rick but why is your child catching strays? 😭

the only episodes i remember we talked about beth's motherhood towards morty is the whirly dirly one (although its primary focus is summer) and the planetina episode, which the show explicitly SAYS that morty is pushed to dubious and icky relationships because of the lack of support he feels at home

i always thought we would have an episode one day about beth being kinda jealous of morty. bc imagine, your father abandons you as a child, comes back years later, and immediately becomes codependent on your least favorite kid 💀 it doesn't help that morty and beth are WIDELY different. its hard to find what morty even inherented from beth aside from rick-like traits

both beth and morty feel unloved in their own accords, and they both explicitly have resentments towards each other.

they clearly love each other, of course, but it reminds me of that lady bird dialogue.

"of course i love you" "right but do you like me?"

i do hope one day we have a beth and morty adventure/episode, because at some point their lack of relationship stops being about rick and starts being about their core characters

also please dont come at me saying "its a cartoon bro its not that deep" well yeah but im bored and they both are my favorite character let me be free

Of all the episodes, I think this is in my top 3 favorites. From the very beginning, it gives you a different feeling, it takes you to existentialism, and even nihilism. I think it's great to see a very hidden side of Rick and see him as a mortal like us.

General Discussion SEASON 9 E2 might be a 10 Spoiler

This is byfar the most psychological episodes ive seen in rick and morty. That shit was fuckin beautiful. Even when rick tries to completely switch personas he ends up becoming like himself, he is so intelligent, that misery comes his way and all he can do is drink it off. Shits crazy Rick is just symbolism for the curse of intelligence atp

General Discussion Rick and Morty takes place in Muskegon, Michigan.

In the 5th episode of the 1st season of Rick and Morty Beth reveals that She is from Muskegon, Michigan. There is very little evidence that the Rick and Morty family have moved to different cities on earth. The Rick and Morty family have only moved to other universes but not cities.

I believe that it hints that the whole Oni Press comic series is a stealth prequel to the TV one, as in an endless circle, plus the tv show is still ongoing as it's already renewed for more seasons while the Oni press version ended.

General Discussion Morty’s face here hurts so much man Spoiler

Post image
29 Upvotes

It’s when Morty is telling ‘Ted’ that Rick is so happy. It’s not true, like some of the other stuff he’s saying, but this is the one thing where he can’t even fake a smile for because of how miserable he knows Rick is.

Sorry if this didn’t make sense, just wanted to write about it because even though I’m not 100% sure how to explain it, it hits the soul

General Discussion [NEW EPISODE SPOILER] What is the root of rick's depression ? Spoiler

Post image
Upvotes

I mean the most obvious thing would be diane right? But he was depressed even as vacation rick , I'm not too deep on emotions but it seems like there is something else

this episode kinda felt like he's a burden to people's existence when he essentially becomes himself. Maybe I'm wrong or seeing this wrong but that's how I see it. Before he realized who he truly was everything was going right , once he started turning or acting like himself that's when people distanced themselves away from him. And he went into a spiral

General Discussion Season 9 Episode 2 Spoiler

I think that the best part of this episode is the ultimate realization that Rick is always in the same place mentally as Ted. He just doesn't have anyone to turn back into.

That's why he goes on vacation.

General Discussion Season 9 ep2 Spoiler

Post image

SPOILERS

i actually loved being reminded that rick is an old man like all the stuff he did in the ep was old man stuff.

I loved rick interacting with "normal" people and the little love story plot was cute

I did feel like it referenced some movies but i cant rmemeber what. But it felt similar

Anyway! TEDDDDDDDD

we heart ted.

Better yet it seems even though "ted" is just rick with no memories it is shown he is still a genius and that is fun to see

Also love to see the pool being mentioned when did that happened. We know it was there in ep 1 so FUN CALL BACK ALREADY!!!

Oughhh i love ted / vacation rick his so fun and its so refreshing to see!

This ep is a banger and compared to ep 1 i did find myself enjoying it more

10/10 ep

There is nothing to hate about this ep like it is truly the best.

I really enjoyed this episode, had a decent plot and the pacing was great too. I’m hoping the rest of the season can be on the same scale as the first two episodes we’ve had but we shall see.
