What’s the meaning of the deer?

Figure it was to show his pocket device isn't a time related machine just freezes the people you want in place

That's a good point. There was a suggestion the last episode was Ep02, so it could be the two episodes were swapped. When Morty mentions the 'time' device Rick showed him he could have said it paused time, when actually it just sort of froze people. It would be a good setup for the moment when the time cops show up, as people would remember the 'time' device from this episode.

I might be reaching, but I thought it was a Life is Strange reference, with the (ghost) deer showing the protagonist the way to go and therefore the way to address the issues in her heart, sort of like a Spirit Guide.

I thought it was the peaceful life that was always out of his grasp. The thing despite universal power, he cant control.

A deer often represents freedom and longing.
Rick longs for a simple life where he's happy, has friends and family who he loves and most importantly love him back.
The trauma of extreme intelligence and PTSD of Rick Primes actions.
The show is saying you can smart, understand/create and destroy or be simple and enjoy being happy.
It's a difficult world view as Rick could be happy if he allows himself to believe he deserves it and be worthy of love.

The cost of incredible intelligence is the depression that comes along with it. The statements "knowledge is power" and "ignorance is bliss" are both quite true.

there's an inverse correlation between high iq and depression. It's fun to romantize certain cliches, the one of the depressed genius burdened by the weight of his own brilliance happens to be particularly intriguing and inspiration for fantastic fiction, but it shouldn't be used to explain away whether there's a genuine hard and fast connection between the two like your statement implies. Yes I should touch grass
edit: I'm not implying there's also a hard and fast connection between high iq and low risk of depression or vice versa, but the point is that the data doesn't seem to support the existence of a strong, positive, causal connection between the two variables

Just gotta say that the song at the end is awesome! I'm listening to it on repeat right now...
It's actually an excerpt of a 3:35 song "For Ages (feat. Wax//Wane & Ryan Elder)" from "Rick and Morty: Season 9".

Yep.
We've known this for a very long time.
At least since the Unity episode when he fails to off himself.

Okay these posts are definitely ai and I’m losing my mind, the discussion thread had a comment on it within 3 minutes of being put out that said. Wow what in episode can’t believe Rick did that. Also the sheer amount of “did u see Rick’s face” before the joke posts started. Something is going on with this sub and it’s creepy. The creators might’ve lowkey sent some bots in here.

Eh I thought it was a good epsiode I just wish they focused less on Rick and a bit more on Morty. He needs some independence, some gradual character growth. I reckon a serialised season would be really good for the show and help grow characters, instead of the episodic nature that's happening at the moment.

Rick and Morty is supposed to be episodic, it wouldn’t be Rick and Morty without it

There's no stake to the story tho, and theirs little room for natural character growth in people like Morty in a episodic season. Serialisation imo just makes everything better, as it paves the way for character growth and compelling antagonists

I prefer serialized shows but Rick and Morty clearly isn’t meant to be serialized. If it became serialized it would’ve already ended by now

Is that really such a bad thing for it to have ended by now though? Rick and Morty easily could have ended somewhere in season 3 after the season 2 cliffhanger.
It just feels like there's been no character growth for Morty since season 3. His character is yet to gain any real independence other than defeating the guy he shared the portal with and in that same episode going on solo missions. And even then that hasn't been brought up much at all. I simply suggested serialisation as it would allow his character to grow, at least more than it currently is

Yea, I have to disagree. Every time a new episode comes out I find myself thinking "wow! Morty has really grown up and gained some confidence" I think his character has come a long way since the beginning seasons.

Why can't he be happy? Every season he tries
