I FUCKING LOVE LAND NAV!

10

u/California_Marki Apr 28 '26

This pic made me piss my pants HAHAHA

6

u/Silent_Aside343 Apr 29 '26

it's teaching people actual orienteering (kinda)

4

u/Dry_Locksmith_2634 Apr 30 '26

ARMA taught me how to orient myself in Tokyo when Google maps decides to fuck up for a little bit once in a while

1

u/looneyshots76 May 04 '26

It's definitely different, im good at land nav in real life but it didn't transfer hardly at all to the game. I picked it up a lot faster than most do but it's still quite different.

Not only are most of the kits I see hyper-unrealistic, they just look goofy afšŸ˜‚

How else are you going to carry 20 mags you are never going to use?

14

u/Eastern-Pass-5478 Apr 28 '26

You absolutely need 20 mags.

1

u/Gramerdim Private Apr 29 '26

larper vs darper

8

u/DeezNuts70520 Apr 28 '26

Even in a situation where I've died fairly quickly, I've burnt through at least 5 mags before going down. 20 mags is fairly standard carry

10

u/Educational_Zone1750 Ryadovoy Apr 28 '26

I typically carry like 10 mags, usually have to scavenge of dead guys

4

u/cornlip Mladshiy Sergeant Apr 28 '26

6 mags. If I need more I’ll just take them off your corpse.

2

u/LegThePeg USSR Apr 29 '26

I carry 7 mags (plus the one in my gun). Helpful if I’m pinned down. I also carry a pistol with two extra mags, as a backup/finishing weapon

2

u/StingKnight 6d ago

its like that one time you wished u had 20 mag, and from then on you always carry 20 mags that u hardly ever use half of šŸ˜‚

9

u/Coolo9000 Apr 27 '26

Love the guys joining a hardcore server and assaulting positions with 60-70 kg worth of shit

5

u/TealArtist095 Second Lieutenant Apr 28 '26

I only do that when I’m going DEEP behind enemy lines, but I’ll usually switch it for an enemy pack once I’ve deployed the gear that I’ve brought.

2

u/EmperorVitamen Apr 29 '26

I need it for Carl G rounds and yes I always go through all of them

67

u/Cyuu_ Corporal Apr 27 '26

I blame the horrendous clothing mods out there. The camos NEVER look good, the shirts NEVER look good, the pants NEVER look good, vests are never the right colour, nothing matches with one another, 200 balaclava options yet you'll only get US camos that look awful. These modern clothing mods are just awful lol.

15

u/swagestan Apr 27 '26

I could never enjoy them because I found them to be too complicated. I would scroll through what seemed to be hundreds of items and could never figure out what matched with what. Then if I forgot to save my loadout I'd have to do it all over again. I wish we had a 'basic' modern day mod.

6

u/OttoVonAuto Ryadovoy Apr 27 '26

That’s me with all these suppressors and optics. I can never see exactly what I need to suppress my MK18 as any other 5.56 ar one apparently does not work

u/SlinkyEST Apr 28 '26

while there def. are bad or low quality clothing mods, what you are saying is overstatment. There are many great mods that add a big variety of high quality camos from different nations, and which are easily matched or mixed

u/LegThePeg USSR Apr 29 '26

1

u/ThinFlamingo8426 Ryadovoy Apr 29 '26

Not like it's a problem for non-console players but modding downloads also take obscenely long for us and all the clothing mods are more nonsense to chug through.

118

u/garaks_tailor Apr 27 '26

The only mod I really really really reaaaally want in vanilla is the ability to remove trees and bushes. I can make a base ridiculously secure with just a shovel. You see bush wookies move on to softer targets if you remove their natural habitat

61

u/Historical_Pair9903 Apr 27 '26

You can chop down trees with your bayonet (seriously). Takes about a dozen hits.

23

u/Horens_R Xbox Apr 27 '26

Ur lying, I refuse

16

u/Thatcher10176 Starshiy Sergeant Apr 27 '26

You can for for 'MOST'trees

7

u/garaks_tailor Apr 28 '26

Also fun note. There are a few absolutely indestructible trees scattered about. Most have colored FIA directions on then but a couple ...nothing takes them down.

4

u/Thatcher10176 Starshiy Sergeant Apr 28 '26

Oh the trail marker trees? Good to note!

5

u/garaks_tailor Apr 28 '26

Yeap! As far as I can tell as indestructible as rocks.

One day im going to make a bulldozer mod so me and the Lorax and bush wookies can finally go mano a mano

3

u/garaks_tailor Apr 28 '26

You know what. Going to try it out. That sounds stupid enough it is probably true.

1

u/ProfessionalAd4409 Apr 30 '26

F all that just forget to set the parking brake trees gone problem solved lol

23

u/SingleMalted Apr 27 '26

Restacking mags and earplugs too are missed when I dont have it.

1

u/The_Mad_Duck_ Apr 28 '26

Yessss base game needs mag stacking so badly

2

u/Comfortable-Big9726 Apr 28 '26

I use…more ā€œexplosiveā€ means to get rid of the trees surrounding Levi’s when I fortify the area

6

u/garaks_tailor Apr 28 '26

Ive tried it but its inefficient and only mortars remove bushes. At least in my testing. I tested a lot but I could have always missed something. Landmines often knocked trees down but weren't consistent and plastic explosives wouldnt remove the big trees.

I have been known to go crazy and mortar the fuck out of hill top at military hospital and coastal bases mortan and chotain.

Most efficient way to remove cover is first by hand take down ONLY bushes, then any trees near rocks and any big fucker trees. I know what they look like because they stop vehicles. Then using a vehicle run the trees over. Im particular those Shaggy furs that spawn at the edges of forests and any low tree that blocks line of sight.

The vehicles that are best for tree clearing in order of efficacy. Lav, BTR, utility truck, brdm-2. Brdm is superior to the utility truck at clearing small trees but gets hung up in the big ones just as easily and costs more

3

u/Dope25 Apr 28 '26

Dedicated.

1

u/Aggravating_Air_699 Apr 28 '26

doing this with a mod would definitely be cheating on just about any server fyi, concealment is just as important as cover in this game with the shadows we've got compared to 3

2

u/garaks_tailor Apr 28 '26

Its a standard mod on almost every moded server (ACE Chopping). All you need is a shovel. And its is important which is why I remove it.

One of my favorite things to hear is "wtf happened to the trees." In a about 90 minutes ive caused besieged bases to stop being so besieged by just chopping down the bushes and low trees. Especially harassing forces in the back lines.

Heck give me 30 minutes at coastal base Morton and I'll stop almost all the sniping from across the bay

2

u/Aggravating_Air_699 Apr 28 '26

oh yeah, that's definitely a different story though- seems like he meant a mod that just removes all the textures to just the client side which would be a huge advantage. i love chopping down trees too lmfao

1

u/garaks_tailor Apr 28 '26

Name of my squad is the Lorax Death Squad

1

u/Cold_Yam_5061 Apr 28 '26

Mines and C4 my friend. Mines and C4

1

u/garaks_tailor Apr 28 '26

Won't move bushes though at least in my testing I couldn't. Also nothing detonated mortar round except firing it.

About half of all trees can be taken down with just plastic explosives the rest require landmines. Also landmines are inconsistent in which trees they knock down. Inside their demolition radius unless they are right next to a tree they may or may not knock it down. Using three landmines placed in a triangle about 5 feet apart seems to overcome this randomness. But im still left with the bushes which are the real issue.

So I put down lots of toe toppers and little red flags. Still get complaints about them

129

u/GabagoolFarmer Apr 27 '26

Vanilla is the best for balancing imo. The game plays better when it isn’t unrelenting suppressed shots from 45 different solo snipers.

17

u/Sweet-Tomatillo-9010 Apr 27 '26

Just use smoke whenever you need to stand still to do something.

19

u/HellBringer97 Apr 27 '26

Slight flaw identified. Lit up a smoke on break during patrol and got obliterated by mortar and machine gun fire. Plz nerf visibility distance of glow from lit cigs.

1

u/Invictus_Inferno Apr 29 '26

Thats really the only thing I dont like about modded servers. Taking suppressors out of it for the most part would make it so much better.

2

u/_Sebiv_ Apr 29 '26

I don’t know why I hate suppressors so bad but I do. If everyone has a suppressor then what is the reason for them.

For me it just makes the gunfights sound stupid

3

u/Invictus_Inferno Apr 29 '26 edited Apr 30 '26

I dont like it because it encourages lonewolf behavior. Can't take a whole base on by yourself if everyone knows where you are when you shoot. Every game with suppressors feels like a game of hide and seek rather than a mil Sim.

2

u/_Sebiv_ Apr 29 '26

That’s exactly it

28

u/Aldoxpy Apr 27 '26

Vanilla is simply the best

Camped a man with a 14.5mm (in modded where there are 30mms) shooting all his helis down one time he divebombed me until the bong smoke cleared he realised that he had no rockets left and his heli was already damaged from me dumping my 14.5mm into him… He proceeded to pull up late and explode next to me sliding into the river. :) He thought he was Top gun

20

u/HellBringer97 Apr 27 '26

The Chadlier ā€œNam Moddedā€ soldier:

  • Has an M16A1 with M7 bayonet mounted at all times in case of bush VC.
  • Carries no fewer than 15x20rd tracer magazines to not only direct friendlies to enemy positions, but because tracers are cool.
  • Makes fun of the SOF and SEAL LARPers for being different and using commie weapons.
  • Also carries enough grenades to level Mount Rushmore.
  • Conducts actual small infantry tactics through the jungle and swamps with integrated mortar support.
  • Said mortar support is conducted manually in a timely and accurate fashion.
  • Gets along with Vanilla Chad

9

u/FamousAd1233 Apr 28 '26

theres nothing chad about Friendly Fire off . vietnam server is baby mode

1

u/HellBringer97 Apr 28 '26

The war pigs server has friendly fire enabled.

The tracers direct where friendlies are to fire, not to intentionally commit friendly fire.

1

u/The_Mad_Duck_ Apr 28 '26

Tbh idk why it's off because I have shot a friendly maybe twice in my entire time playing that server. My biggest gripe is it lets heli fuckers spam objective as it's under attack

1

u/Kooky-Canary-5065 May 01 '26

Yeah but Arma Conflict is shit.

8

u/TealArtist095 Second Lieutenant Apr 28 '26

Yeah I much more prefer vanilla.

My personal favorite thing to do (once I’ve built up my rank a bit) is to grab a sniper, m72 LAW, about 12 sandbags, and about 14 AP mines.

I have one of my buddies give me a chopper lift (and one or two others if they feel like going with, carrying AP and AT mines) WAY behind enemy lines.

I personally like walking up through the back line to be able to observe where the enemy is hauling supplies and what is vulnerable, meanwhile staying pretty much entirely undetected.

Set up the really low sandbag walls across the road like a speed bump, with AP mines covering the ditches before and after it. Utilize this to ambush trucks, while small vehicles hitting it at high speeds die outright.

The LAW is used on Helicopters and Enemy Armor.

Takes far less supplies than many of the other loadouts, and lets me scavenge gear from my fallen enemies to great effect.

I often cause enough disruption to the enemy, that they bring entire squads and air support to hunt me down. It’s always the peak of my night hearing them on their radio (which I looted from a kill) not being able to find me while I am super close to them, or keeping them pinned down.

7

u/East-Oven3803 Apr 28 '26

My elite vanilla commando kit:

Green outfit No body armour Suppressed carbine Hiding in a bush at night shooting people in coastal base Merton

ā€œSomeone’s hackingā€

ā€œIs there a GM on?ā€

ā€œTheres a sniper I can’t find himā€ (I’m about 15m away)

9

u/gmodboss Apr 28 '26

vanilla players and their never ending one-sided beef with modded players is sad

7

u/Equal_Guitar_7806 Staff Sergeant Apr 28 '26

Yeah exactly. No one gives a fuck as much whether you play modded or vanilla as obnoxious vanilla purists.

2

u/bagofrice_14 10d ago

Fr lol what would arma be without mods

7

u/SuperSkylerFTW Apr 28 '26

Modded server experience has literally just been: load up to see 15 dudes playing barbie

load up with randoms carrying 200 lbs of equipment each

get spawn camped by entire army with x12 scopes

Vanilla gameplay is just elite imo and the lack of super modern tech helps balance out everything

6

u/dappermanV-88 Apr 28 '26

Never understood why so many think they need super fancy shit to be good and all.

Other than the NVGs, the rest is absolutely pointless.

They're useless

5

u/DeezNuts70520 Apr 28 '26

I've not played with NVG's yet as I typically run Vanilla. Even without them though, night raids are ridiculously fun. There's nothing more enjoyable than running grenade launcher and suppressor, hiking to an enemy base, and wreaking havoc on everyone inside while they desperately shoot into the wrong bush.

2

u/Equal_Guitar_7806 Staff Sergeant Apr 28 '26

Love night fights in general. Both vanilla and modded with NVGs. They tend to be so intense.

2

u/DeezNuts70520 Apr 28 '26

1000%, the only thing harder than a normal gunfight is a gunfight where you can't see shit. The only deciding factor in a situation like that is who can keep more composed in all the chaos.

3

u/Equal_Guitar_7806 Staff Sergeant Apr 28 '26

Oh yeah. Bonus points if some flares go off.

2

u/DeezNuts70520 Apr 28 '26

The best is when the enemy use flares and it doesn't help them at all. Just running around like ants while your squad is in the bushes taking them out.

2

u/dappermanV-88 Apr 28 '26

Burn ur retinas as u deal with the pain and blind fire lol

2

u/Equal_Guitar_7806 Staff Sergeant Apr 28 '26

No one needs anything, people just go and have fun. You can use vanilla weapons on modded too and slap with them, no one is stopping you.

I never really got the opposite. Modded players seem to be pretty chill, they create their kits, go about their day, do missions.. while vanilla purists, especially on Reddit, have this intrinsic urge to constantly blurt out how superior vanilla is, lol. Like who cares, let me build my stupid tacticool gun, what's it to you? 😃

1

u/The_Mad_Duck_ Apr 28 '26

Specifically picking the right camo for my kit has saved my ass quite a few times.

...I use vanilla camo.

1

u/dappermanV-88 Apr 28 '26

Never said anything about camo lol, basic vanilla camo does the job regardless

1

u/The_Mad_Duck_ Apr 28 '26

You mentioned super fancy shit, I assumed that included fancy tacticool camo

17

u/MonkanyWasTaken Apr 27 '26

Realest shit. Joined a modded server once, spent 10 minutes going through the 100+ page arsenal just trying to find a mag compatible with my rifle.

Ended up just looting off of dead friendlies as Bohemia intended.

13

u/Sweet-Tomatillo-9010 Apr 27 '26

Hit I while hovering over your rifle and it'll give you a menu to customize your rifle.

5

u/MonkanyWasTaken Apr 28 '26

Thank you, I literally had 0 idea that was a thing after like 600 hours

-11

u/nin90ety Apr 27 '26

that’s a skill issue because you don’t know how to use the ingame menu to filter for compatible mags man. always players like this whining about menus when you’re the problem lmao. click i when hovering over the rifle, click on the mag spot, boom, compatible mags are filtered. aim to learn more than you complain šŸ‘

1

u/Dope25 Apr 28 '26

The i menu never works for me on Arsenal equipment - only on player inventory.

If anything this is Bohemia's failure. The UI is not good and the UX is terrible.

Any good vanilla server recommendations, every one i join seems to be a catastrophe with no direction, either nobody talking or everyone screaming on the radio, 20+ squads of 1 guy etc

3

u/mob1us0ne Apr 28 '26

Are you jointing the Soviet teams? Because you should be.

6

u/harmless27 Apr 28 '26

I usually join which ever team is down but I'm glad to see that the Soviet team being the organized one vs the US one being awful is still a thing

2

u/Sgt_Bill_Tozer Apr 28 '26

It is but I have noticed a balancing recently. In the sense that the non-base building, no supply running, no comms using etc etc merchants are moving to the Soviet team.

3

u/yeetersouls980 Apr 28 '26

I play both but im in a Warhammer server

1

u/Easy-Junket1280 Apr 28 '26

What server?

2

u/yeetersouls980 Apr 28 '26

3

u/The_Omen17 Apr 28 '26

I love going into those modded servers running M81, Alice Kit a boonie hat and an m14 with irons. Just to dunk on some airsoft larper with a Zennit AK with a bunch of useful shit like a radio, where I take said radio and use their shit coms to decode their map positions.

For example, the say "enemy helicopter landing at Muskat"

Muskat has to be airfield because that's the only place there's a friendly helicopter.

Then repeat over and over again until you decode the whole map in less than 30 mins because no one understands opsec at all lol.

1

u/The_Mad_Duck_ Apr 28 '26

Yep basically my experience but I like playing whatver the red team is for muh PKM

3

u/throwaway11675 Apr 28 '26

I love being generic solider man I love have too much stuff but at the same time I don’t have enough I love looking like all my buddies I love my squad I love land nav and I don’t need gimmicks to have fun and be deadly

3

u/Danlabss Apr 28 '26

I hate the modern modded servers not because they’re modern but because they’re so jank compared to official servers. If u need a big arrow on the map telling you where you are GET UP OUT MY TRAP HOUSE!!!!!!! BIIIIITCHHHH!!!!

4

u/AlexiCuti Apr 28 '26

Whenever I play vanilla it always just ends up with everyone at monti with no clothes on while some hacker smites everyone with lightning id rather just run flecktarn in a modded server and call it a day

2

u/E10Cm4S Apr 28 '26

Realistically the max you need it 6 to 8 mags, 3 grenades, map and radio

1

u/DeezNuts70520 Apr 28 '26

6 to 8 mags is getting you nowhere in a gun fight. 10 is the absolute minimum if you want to actually be an asset and not just a walking target.

2

u/The_Mad_Duck_ Apr 28 '26

Depends on your gun, If I'm running around with a SR-25 that has a drum mag I carry 5. M16 I carry 12. Any marksman role I carry 10 to stay light

1

u/E10Cm4S Apr 29 '26

Seems to do me just fine tbh, especially if im playing point i just pick up 7 8 mags and if I need to ressuply i either pick up enemy weapons and ammo or wait to cap points and re supply on the armoury before moving objectives. I could count on one hand times where ive been stranded and completely empty of ammo and it’s not many at all over the 8 ish months ive been properly playing. Think it’s really dependant on what you’re doing, if your defending a big point or setting up an ambush deep behind lines then yeah take ten to make sure you don’t run out, i just don’t feel it’s necessary to take that many when you get so much opportunity to ressuply

2

u/Finnegan_962 Apr 28 '26

all my friends wanna play the gigachad modded servers and i just couldnt care less lmfao, the restrictions of vanilla make it way more interesting

2

u/Price-x-Field Apr 28 '26

Biggest advantage of vanilla is that people actually play. Lost countless modded games with legitimately half the team endlessly customizing

2

u/Predictor-Raging Apr 28 '26

Chad will always pick up whatever the virgins leave behind when they get shot at the arsenal when a sniper picks them off one by one.

2

u/Rake-dubz Apr 28 '26

Vanilla FTW

2

u/bendaboi55 Apr 28 '26

I mostly just build a desert storm m4 and wear chocolate chip if it’s available

2

u/BluesyPompanno Apr 28 '26

I seriously stopped playing because all the servers that I played switched to using mods and the official servers have such a low player count that it just becomes boring, instead of long and frequent firefights and the need to defend it just becomes a walking fest on who can capture stuff faster

2

u/Simoun1er Apr 28 '26

I do both for free : spawn vanilla, pick up the stuff of a stupidly high price geared dude that died at spawn.

2

u/silasmousehold Apr 28 '26

You forgot the virgin’s gigantic backpack.Ā

I love Reforger, but I hate the way a huge portion of the community wants to play the game. No hate to those people, each their own, but I personally want a platoon milsim, not tactical cosplay.

I also wish you vanilla players would play a game mode that focused on one or two objectives at a time, like Squad’s RAAS. It’s just not that fun to me if you spread a single platoon across a huge island. We’re just playing hide and seek at that point.

I’m playing Squad wishing I was playing Reforger instead but at least I can reliably get some squad-level firefights going in Squad.Ā

1

u/DeezNuts70520 Apr 28 '26

I agree with what you said other than the game mode point. Personally, much more a fan of the whole "do your own thing with your squad" aspect rather than being forced to take certain points. Gives you much more freedom for your plans than the other way does. If I want something more focused, like you, I'll just play Squad instead.

1

u/silasmousehold Apr 28 '26

Reforger feels more relaxed and I prefer the game engine. But I just get tired of hide and seek gameplay. The only way to get reliable squad and platoon-level firefights going in public games is to coax players into converging on fewer objectives. The whole deep infiltration thing that’s so popular isn’t gameplay I want.Ā

2

u/SquidShadeyWadey Apr 28 '26

Vanilla is the way, but the helicopter handling sucks. They treat both helicopters as freighter boats flying through viscous syrup.

2

u/Rasples1998 Apr 28 '26

I hate joining an unofficial server that downloads a bunch of random crap onto your mod list and everyone is running around like tacticool Airsoft cosplayers.

3

u/The_Guilty_Spark117 Apr 27 '26

Idk bro, i just let everyone do what they enjoy, and it doesn't bother me, and doing the things I enjoy doesn't make me feel superior

1

u/Slaikon Apr 29 '26

This is one thing that causes a disconnect for me with Reforger.

Comparing A3's modded servers to Reforger's and I still see vanilla uniforms and aemor all the time, it's JUST vehicles and guns (though modded guns have the same issue as Modded reforger, PUT, THE OVERMODDED, RAILSLOP FAL DOWN, GRAB AN MX!)

Vanilla USSR main. BI should remove suppressors or lock them to special forces squads

1

u/RandyHarshXP Apr 29 '26

Brilliant! Also, happy to report that I’m a Chad already, after playing for a few days.

This is partly because I don’t know enough about all the equipment šŸ˜… Getting these weird ideas that a scope could be nice 😬

Another part is that when you are a supply trucker, you learn that money doesn’t come from an ATM! It’s darn honest work, dangit!

1

u/Lanceg142 Apr 29 '26

We need more vanilla plus servers

1

u/Dumpsterf1re_ Apr 29 '26

100 hrs on vanilla first before even touching modded…I miss vanilla but getting friends to come off WCS mods and spawning on worn backpacks might be the hardest sell.

1

u/walapatamus Apr 29 '26

Uses flashlight to give away position at night is hilarious

1

u/thot_chocolate420 Apr 29 '26

Bruh just carry lots of ammo and shoot until the enemy is dead. The weight will not be a problem 15 mins into an op.

1

u/Dull-Revenue-723 Apr 29 '26

I want to love vanilla so badly, but the constant teamkilling and shitty Supply system makes vanilla almost unplayable, also no one talks. is it worth doing a milsim at this point (pc)

1

u/TieTop4145 Apr 29 '26

You inspect your weapon, or any piece of equipment while you have the arsenal open. It will literally show you every compatible attachment for each slot…

1

u/Azzyofficiall Apr 30 '26

Bruhh 🤣

1

u/Mango_Pineapple037 Apr 30 '26

I love how to a non gear guy, he looks at some wanna be spec ops kit and goes ā€œyea $1000 is probably the cost on the high end full kitā€ Man I wish you were right

1

u/Fisherman_Dave_Games May 01 '26

"from missouri" 😭😭

u/Tycrosoft_2-0 May 01 '26

Vanilla is the GOAT. Me and two buddies of mine met on a Vanilla server and we ran as a LAV crew for months. We drifted over the last month or so, as the LAV driver buddy re enlisted, and our navigator buddy is busy with real life, as am I. Hopefully one day we can run it back, Arma Reforger is truthfully some of the most fun gaming Ive ever had

1

u/Powerful-Captain5026 May 02 '26

i play vanilla when modded servers are full. i hope 64 player vanilla comes soon though

1

u/DryWeekends 20d ago

My Hyper modded Outfit is just jeans and plain white longsleeve shirt. 18KG loadout is all you need.

1

u/Proof-Target-8400 15d ago

except for vietnam and ww2 tho they're goated

u/Excellent-Falcon-329 Captain Apr 27 '26

It’s a computer game so a kill is conceivably achievable at any distance with any particular weapon mod. Sniping little pixels from 1200m doesn’t seem that fun or challenging.

1

u/creeperYeti38 Apr 27 '26

I only will play WCS and a little bit of Spearhead, Vanilla just bored me too much because I like a sandbox style game. Spearhead has too much stuff sometimes but is pretty good with realism (not outfits). WCS is the perfect mix of arcade and realism, and matches get intense.

Vanilla is just to flavorless for me, I like the modern weaponry and helicopters and drones.

1

u/Ok_Weight_5237 Apr 27 '26

Yes sir tbh I like moded more I'm sorry but nam to fun or early 2000s

1

u/aku_drag0n Apr 27 '26

I prefer my more modded server

1

u/Miketank1 Apr 28 '26

The ā€œnever fires their secondaryā€ is bs. I wiped a squad sized element in the bush, completely alone as they spawned on their friendly radio backpack-

1

u/Jumpy_Radio_949 Apr 28 '26

This game has just made me realize that modern stuff just sucks. Multicam is lame, high speed low drag gear is lame, super modded mlock guns are lame. Maybe it’s just getting older but the 90s-2010s just had super cool looking kit.

It’s really not that deep

0

u/Th0m4s2001 Apr 28 '26

If we had PVS5s or PVS7s I’d be happy with vanilla

2

u/TheDAWinz USSR Apr 28 '26

PVS 5s could be a captain rank unlock and PVS 7s major, to balance soviets can get the 1pn58 scope for the 74N and PKMN at sergeant, which while is night vision its massive and useless during day.

1

u/Th0m4s2001 Apr 28 '26

They could use the TN-2 NVGs that were sold to them by the French.

1

u/TheDAWinz USSR Apr 28 '26

that was during the 1990s after the fall iirc so unfortunately not.

The PNV-57 exists, with the tradeoff that you cant wear a helmet with it

-8

u/nin90ety Apr 27 '26

all vanilla ā€˜chads’ do is post to fuel their superiority complex and not play the game. fire up a match and stop being miserable

Man, vanilla cultists are the worst.

15

u/Hy93r1oN Apr 27 '26

Seriously? Someone finally makes a cool, modern Cold War gone hot FPS and you guys turn it into just another tactical Barbie simulator.Ā

-4

u/Cool-Psychology-4896 Starshiy Sergeant Apr 27 '26

Arma would have barely any players without mods, its the main reason why people are playing the game.

3

u/Hy93r1oN Apr 27 '26

Then maybe it’d be better off without them if they dont pass the vibe check.Ā

1

u/Equal_Guitar_7806 Staff Sergeant Apr 28 '26

What have mods to do with "the vibe check"?

1

u/Hy93r1oN Apr 28 '26

Do you want to play a milsim game or tactical Barbie? I can count on one hand the number of modded servers that don’t devolve into people standing in spawn for 3 hours getting their loadouts just right to operator larp, not coordinating with their team at all while they look like something out of a Call of Duty gameĀ

1

u/Equal_Guitar_7806 Staff Sergeant Apr 28 '26

What business is it to you what others want to play? Why does any of it bother you so much?

1

u/Hy93r1oN Apr 28 '26

It’s no business of mine, but that doesn’t mean I can’t have and share an opinion on it. If it was as insignificant as you’re saying though, you wouldn’t have bothered to reply.Ā

1

u/Equal_Guitar_7806 Staff Sergeant Apr 28 '26

Yeah, I like to point out when people needlessly shit on stuff other people enjoy.

1

u/Hy93r1oN Apr 28 '26

And I like to express dissatisfaction at people turning something unique into something blasĆ© and boring. Guess we’re at an impasseĀ

Never understand why players who like modded servers are so sensitive and defensive.

Like what you like. No need to get upset about what other people enjoy.

10

u/carsnbikesnplanes Apr 27 '26

I’d argue the call of duty console kiddies are the worst. Literally the downfall of Arma

-4

u/nin90ety Apr 27 '26

these two subgroups deserve each other tbf

u/Hamzokxx Apr 27 '26

My only problem with vanilla is the map, it is really difficult for me as a casual to navigate, although the idea of vanilla gameplay appeals to me much more than modded, are there any vanilla servers with map enabled?

In map enabled i mean i can always see where I am at the map.

5

u/mob1us0ne Apr 28 '26

Land nav is a feature not a bug dude

5

u/Johnny_SixShooter Apr 28 '26

Missing the point of the post my guy. Half the fun of Vanilla is bombing around in a jeep with a crew hilariously trying to figure out where they are until you accidentally role into a full blown firefight.

1

u/Hamzokxx Apr 28 '26

Yeah i am very sorry for having personal preferences my bad

0

u/NewManufacturer6670 Apr 28 '26

Idk man vanilla is boring as hell, I’ve tried so many times to enjoy it but running sim for a 2 second fire fight ain’t it šŸ˜‚
