Discussion It's not just undocumented foreigners they want gone
Whenever criticisms of March and March's negative rhetoric of foreigners is discussed, their supporters will often say it's only undocumented immigrants they are after, but anyone actually paying attention knows, that is not the case.
I'm not saying the man in this clip speaks on behalf of all March and March supporters(nor do I know if he's even apart of March and March) but what I am saying is that his sentiment is shared by many. When you have jacinta ngobese zuma saying false generalizations such as foreigners commit most crimes, are entitled, are taking all the jobs, etc, how can we not expect broad anti-immigrant sentiment to grow.
We are 29 days away from that deadline, and if we already have school children attacking foreigners( look up kraaifontein student riot) I can't imagine what will happen then.
I won't stay silent as a propaganda movement preys misdirected anger. You don't have to speak up, but at least keep yourself educated on the facts and share them with people who are being misled.

Self-Promotion Please help us translate requests for the languages of South Africa on Reddit!
Hi folks!
We're mods over at r/translator. We always strive to make our multilingual community the universal place on Reddit to go for a translation, no matter what language people may be looking for. We are however somewhat lacking in coverage for languages of South Africa, and were hoping some wonderful multilingual people here could help us out.
Would anyone be interested in helping translate any future requests for these languages on r/translator? You don't even need to subscribe to our subreddit! We usually get a request for it very occasionally and most requests that come in are pretty simple and casual and don't need advanced knowledge. If there's a language that you know that isn't on the list, you can also sign up for that, no problem. (We have a decent number of people already in the database for Afrikaans, but I'm including it in the table for coverage's sake)
You can easily unsubscribe from those messages at any time.
We have a notifications system that only sends you a message when a request for a specific language comes in. Just send a message to our subreddit bot at the link below.

Discussion I wish for a place where you can live in anything you want.
There is a certain income group like myself. The income is enough to survive. Having a 25yr old car, TV, electricity & running water. However not enough to buy property. When I am on retirement, the cost of rental increases is going to make my life hell. Hence, I possibly going to end up in a squatter camp or Wendy house in someone's backyard. I wish there was a system where one could go stay in one of these godforsaken towns. All I need is a place where I could pull in an old bus, shipping container, Wendy house, caravan or whatever is in my means. Only needs to be connected to running water & sewage system. Don't need Eskom's stuff. The main thing is not having too serious bylaws restricting in what you live. I think there are a bunch of other people in my situation.

Discussion SARS Penalty Advice needed: R9k in penalties drawn from my account
Hey Everyone,
A few years back (2022 tax year) I changed jobs. Somewhere between, my taxes weren't filed properly and my 2022 tax return wasn't filed at all.
I wound up with a R250 penalty, but I had no idea what was happening and where the problem was so I requested and filed a return. But it wasn't for right year, and the penalty kept going up. I tried on various occasions to dispute, but since I honestly didn't know what I was doing with the e-filing, I essentially made zero progress in trying to dispute the penalty.
I am completely compliant and the 2022 return has been filed. I don't owe any taxes.
It reached a point of R9000 and they handed me over to debt collectors. And in April 2026, SARS basically drained my account of the R9000.
I finally reached out to an auditor who has been trying to assist pro-bono, but they sent me a mail the other day stating:
- Please be advised that we have tried to waiver the admin penalties but it was declined by SARS, the reason they keep on declining the matter is because the debt was settled! It relates to the 2022 tax year assessment penalties and three (3) years have lapsed.
I don't know what to do next. I've reached out to the auditor, but since they're assisting me at no cost, they aren't giving me more feedback.
Is my R9k lost? Do I still stand any chance? Does anyone have any suggestions, or experienced anything similar?
Thanks in advance guys!

Discussion Gambling - Don’t even start
I think more emphasis should be placed on the dangers of gambling. When they told us to stay in school, don’t do drugs they should’ve added “never start gambling”
I made a terrible judgement call last night. Placed R10K on PSG to win against Arsenal - 2.4 odds, total cash payout of R24K. Did my research, went through the patterns, did the stats, everything!
Well, my prediction was right but 1x2 means they had to win within 90 minutes. They didn’t. Now I’m 10K down and I’m back paddling trying to find ways to pay for my rent.
I’m sharing this to raise awareness about the dangers of gambling - not only can it be addictive, of which isn’t the case for me, I just saw an opportunity to double my money at the time, but it can also mess up your finances in a very bad way. Like homeless-level bad.

Discussion I scratched my mom's car, Advice.
I scratched my mom's, now I need advice.
I was preparing for an interview but the house was loud, so I took the car without asking so I could go somewhere quiet and prepare there. The spot I thought of had some people there so I decided to drive back.
While driving back I scratched the car, now I don't know what to do. The problem is this is not the first time, I've done this stupid shit before once.
I'm thinking of running away from my problems if it wasn't for the interview and somethings I've planned for today and tomorrow, I would have left by now, called her on the phone and informed her of what I did, but I have that interview.
The tensions have been high at home and this will only serve to escalate it.
The scratch is worse from the side.
What should I do?
