US Sale Should I sell my F-350?

So I just bought my F-350 about a month ago because at the time I didnt have a vehicle, I bought it with the intention of future business use. Which has since been put on hold (long story).

For context, I work from home mostly and commute 2 days per week usually carpool in someone elses car. So it doesn’t get driven super often and mostly short trips. Diesel here is about 7$ a gallon and Im getting like 14-15 mpg in the city.

Ive only had the truck for about 2,000 miles and Ive already had to do a manual regen. So if i do keep it I will definitely be deleting it.

I do eventually plan to buy a boat this summer, but not a boat large enough for me to need a diesel. I primarily bought it for the gooseneck receiver.

For context, its an Anti Matter Blue/Stone gray 2022 King Ranch Ultimate, with Panoramic sunroof, w 54k miles. I paid 63k OTD

US Sale Other than a sale why would a dealership take down a recent car listing?

Bit of a strange one and more out of curiosity.

Was looking into buying a used Volvo XC60 from a BMW dealership. One of the reasons I decided against it was it was difficult to get an appt for a PPI at a Volvo dealership - they were all several weeks out and I needed a car sooner. The dealership was pretty adamant that I wouldn't need the inspection cause they're a reputable dealership and did their own inspection when they took the car in (apparently from a KBB sale).

Out of curiosity (and a little remorse) I checked to see if the car was still there and looks like they sold it to a smaller out of state dealership. That dealership put a post for the car with pictures coming soon. Within a couple of days the page for the posting disappeared but it doesn't appear as if they sold the vehicle.

Any thoughts on why they would take down the posting so quickly other than a sale? Wondering how likely it is they did their own inspection and found something wrong with the car and are either fixing it or sending it back or if there's something else I might not be thinking of? Curious if I may have dodged a bullet here.

US Sale 2026 Toyota Tacoma Pricing

Hi All, I'm considering purchasing a new 2026 Tacoma Limited or TRD Sport in the next couple months and was curious if anyone would mind sharing their model and price paid on 2026 Tacomas. I've seen a few posts in the past, but figured I'd ask if anyone minds sharing their more recent experiences on the 2026 models. Anything else you want to add like pictures or your experience with the Tacoma so far would be appreciated.

US Sale Bought a brand new car... Odometer was wrong

Bought a brand new car from an AutoNation dealer in California and I live out of state. When speaking to the sales guy, pricing sheet had 10 as mileage. When the contract came, it was at 21 and I asked the guy why there was a discrepancy. His answer was that the car was brought in from another dealer 10 miles away. I was fine with it and signed the contract (and DMV odometer disclosure also had 21 miles). I got the car transported and it got delivered yesterday.... And it came with 172 miles!!!!
I was so livid. Talked to the sales manager and he said they didn't take a note of the mileage and it was their fault for making the mistake on the odometer reading and not updating. Still livid because that's not an excuse! It also came with 33 miles left to empty in fuel... wtf...

Got chaneled up to some other manager and he said the car came from OC and came with 170mi on it. We asked to give us the proof and he sends the bill of landing of 171 miles noted when the car was picked up at the dealer. So the sales manager lied again about not noting the odometer reading when the car was picked up...

This gotta be illegal right? Selling the car with incorrect odometer reading???

Meta Feeling Discouraged

I started in car sales about 5 months ago, with that being said the title says it all. I’m honestly not discouraged in the sales I’m doing I think it’s all the other factors I cannot control. I come from a background of food sales and wanted to give car sales a shot.

I work for a Nissan dealership that just isn’t that busy. Probably averages like 35 units per month which arguably is terrible given what I’ve seen some other dealerships do.

I’ll start with the commission structure which I’ve learned now with some research really isn’t great at all. So it’s a base scaling salary plus commissions. So it scales on the average unit sales over a 3 month span. The bottom tier is $600/week plus 6% on backend gross with the highest being $1,000/week plus 10%. Flats on new are $100 and Used were also $100 but recently they changed them to $50.

Money isn’t everything to me but I also need to make a living. I’d definitely take a lower paying job to not have the stress and headaches of a lot of things. But with the way this commission structure is setup I’ve basically accepted the fact that most sales I do I essentially just get the flat or maybe a touch more. Working a deal with a customer for days on end to then sell a $50k vehicle and maybe get the flat and after tax like $60 bucks just doesn’t seem worth it.

I recently got a new Sales Manager a few weeks ago after a huge shift within the dealership between people leaving and or transferring. I don’t really get along with my Sales Manager, we butt heads constantly and I just get nothing but an attitude from them. I want to learn and get better and I just don’t get that from them. They do whatever they need to make a deal happen even if that means instead of teaching just outright taking over and making a deal happen. I got horrible training to begin with, couldn’t even get into my CRM for the first month I was here and same with NCAR so I basically just sat at a desk and was told I couldn’t sell because I had to do all my training beforehand which I didn’t have access to for the first like 4-5 weeks.

I feel like I’m just ranting at this point and I’m sorry but the last thing being, with our used cars it’s the most miserable process ever. They get put online most times before we even get the vehicle sometimes Atleast a week or so before we get it. Tracking down vehicles and then having the vehicle needing a UCI before it goes out I’ve lost tons of deals because of it, people don’t want to wait. Or people want a vehicle from another one of our locations but they are essentially asking a customer to commit to the vehicle sight unseen before they’d allow us to go get the vehicle for them to test drive, another solid way to lose sales.

Anywho I’m at a loss. I’m not sure if this is just how car sales is in general or maybe I’m just at a bad dealership. I enjoy learning and I actually like talking with customers despite some of them being painfully miserable. But between a slow dealership, the commission structure, a sales manager I don’t mesh with, and then all the other headaches, I feel discouraged and making me wonder if it’s just not for me or it’s just this store.

US Sale Selling 2024 VW Jetta SE

I am wanting to sell my Jetta in USA. It has had the valve body replaced under warranty. No accidents, regular service, 38,000 miles on it. Does having the valve body replaced add to the value or take away from the value of the car? Apparently this is a known issue but VW hasn't issued a recall yet.

Canadian Sale How much of a discount will I get on Silverado / Sierra 1500?

Hi all,

I work for a bank in Canada who is partnered with GM for the preferred pricing deal.

I’m wondering how much of a discount I could expect to see on a Silverado 1500 / Sierra 1500 MSRP as a result of the preferred pricing?

The trucks in my area currently have a 8000 cash discount as well, would preferred rate stack on top of that?

Ontario for reference.

Thanks!

US Sale How to sell a 90's car?

Hi everyone! I have a bit of a conundrum. I have my grandma's 96 Buick Park Avenue that I need to sell but I know if I give it to some place like carmax, they'll just auction it for scrap and give me *maybe* $100. On the other hand, it's not old enough or nice enough to be a 'classic' car, worthy of a showroom. I've gotten random people asking if I was interested in selling it over the years, but nothing serious. I guess my question boils down to if anyone knows companies in the North Atlanta, GA area that would like to use it as maybe set dressing or to fix up and transform into a themed car. It's held up remarkably well over the past 30 years but it’s definitely not without a few issues. Never been in any wrecks and has like, 169k miles? I've been told not to do private sales as a pure safety concern and I don't think a car this old is a good match for a new driver anyway. I still drive it around to the grocery once or twice a week to maintain the battery and it's a cushy ride, so someone will love it....I just don't know who. I'd like to get at least the average edmunds price out of it but idk what companies would even want that. I appreciate your advice!

US Sale Question about getting out of a kia sportage

Hey everyone, I began financing a 2024 Kia sportage 2 years ago, got it off the lot. I started doing more research now on the difference between leasing and financing and I understand financing is probably more for reliable cars that you intend to keep for a long time and leasing is the opposite and I kinda wanted to get rid of the sportage after a couple years when I got it so leasing probably would have been better.

My question is my payoff quote for my sportage is the value so I could break even right now, I am scared if I wait the value will depreciate even more knowing it's a kia and then im stuck in this finance for 4 more years (it's 6 years). Should I trade in my sportage and lease another car to find what I really want to keep forever? I am rather tall, I am 6'5" and the sportage is just kinda small.

Thank you for any guidance!

US Sale Dealer products on car is it really optional ?

I went into a dealership and they had add ons to their product like a shield and door guards etc totally $499+999 on the paper where we begin negotiating it states “dealer recommended products/services are optional at time of purchase” does this mean they are optional even if the product is already put on the vehicle ? Or it doesn’t become “optional” anymore since the product is already on the car ? On the sticker of the car next to the MSRP on a different paper it posts the add ons. Is this legal ? Or is it illegal?

Private Sale Process for getting a gifted car from parents right before moving to another state?

My parents and I are currently living in two different states in the Midwest. I am borrowing their car currently as a student but am about to move to the West coast in a few weeks for a job. They are going to gift the car to me soon to make moving there with my stuff easier.

Is the proper way to do this so that I can drive the car across the country that my parents transfer the title to me with a bill of sale stating it was a gift, I obtain insurance in my destination West coast state, drive over, then register the car in my name?

I know this is convoluted and it would be simpler to ship my stuff over to the West coast rather than drive but I have personal belongings that can't be shipped so moving there first and buying a car there isn't an option.

US Sale Lexus NX SiriusXM Subscription

My mother is purchasing a new Lexus NX and one of the installed options is a 3 year SiriusXM trial THAT SHE HAS TO PAY $350 FOR. The vehicle is already built and on its way to the dealership, and she has put a deposit on it. She will never use the SiriusXM and she doesn't want it. I told her to ask the dealership to remove it, and they said they "couldn't". ls this true? It's not like it's a physical part that's installed on the car. Any guidance is appreciated. How can she get them to remove it?

US Sale Carfax "accident" but no damage

I am currently trying to sell my car private party. I was informed today by a potential buyer that when they ran it through Carfax it shows an accident/damage reported. I decided to run the Carfax myself and sure enough it says Accident - Damage reported. Roughly a year ago I was waiting to turn right at an intersection. I was looking to my left and stepped off the brake to roll forward prior to turning. Unknowingly there was a cyclist in front of me crossing the road that I bumped into. There was no damage to the car as I was only going 2 to 3 mph and the cyclist left. I notified the police because I wasn't quite sure what to do and I did tell the officer there was no damage to my vehicle. Turns out they filed a accident report and that is now what is showing up on Carfax. I did call the police department and confirmed with them there was no damage reported and the details of the incident. Is there a way to get this corrected on Carfax and if so what are my chances of actually succeeding in that.

Private Sale Better To Sell My 93 Miata In Southern NH or Hilton Head, SC Market This Time Of Year?

78,000 miles, excellent condition, never seen a winter (always stored), owned by me since 1995, automatic transmission (“first chink in the armor Ted.”)

The car is currently registered and garaged in Nashua, NH. It’s close to the affluent Boston market. But the season is short and already upon us.

I have another house in the Hilton Head area and have been thinking about bringing it down there to sell. Beaufort County, SC is fairly affluent but it’s a much smaller market. The season is much longer. But it’s too hot for top down driving from June through September.

There are A LOT of older folks in Beaufort County. So I think there’d be more people willing to buy an automatic Miata. What do you experts think? Would it be easier to get a good price up north or down south?

Meta What are the most common questions in sales?

Starting a car sale job soon at Chevrolet. What are some commonly asked questions and what do you say to them? I'm mainly talking about the "I need to ask my wife" and "What's the best you can do?" stuff. (also is Chevrolet good? I see people saying its one of the worst companies to sell cars for.)

US Sale Is this 2011 Honda CR-V worth $7,900?

Hi everyone,

I’m a 29F PhD student looking for a reliable daily driver for commuting and general use. I’m trying to avoid a car payment, so I’m focused on something dependable rather than fancy. I live in FL but will purchase in WI.

I’m considering a 2011 Honda CR-V LX AWD and wanted honest feedback on whether the price makes sense. The asking price is $7,900, my mom drove it, and she says it drove well.

Details:

2011 Honda CR-V LX AWD

230,000 miles on body/chassis

Engine replaced with a 55,000-mile engine

New A/C compressor

New catalytic converter

Front suspension/steering work done (wheel bearings + sway bar links)

Seller says it runs and drives great

Any thoughts? I am so unsure. Should I explore more options?

Meta Kia customers vs other brands customers.

I started at Kia, left and went to Nissan in another state then moved back and got rehired.

Nissan customers were a delight, for the most part they knew what they wanted and didn’t sweat the small stuff.

Kia on the other hand they demand unreasonable amounts off, shop around like crazy, and switch cars.

I’m curious if it’s the brand or the people

To add I worked at Nissan in west Tennessee, and Kia in southwest Florida

US Sale Buying a used car that was a dealer buyback...

Close to making a decision on a used 2023 Subaru Solterra, and checking over the Carfax report provided free of charge from the car dealer, I see the car was a dealer buyback in NJ in 2024. No details of what the issue was in the report. The next time the vehicle was purchased was a year and a half later (looks like by the dealer selling it now, who isn't a Subaru dealer, just a smaller used car dealership).

In the past I've seen more detail about what happened when there is a backback.... My wife's 2018 VW Golf was a dealer buyback, and the details on that had to do a wiring harness which was reported as ultimately fixed by the dealer after the buyback. Then the car went to auction, was bought by a specialty used car dealer, who I bought it from. A few months after purchase the dash indicators suddenly went crazy, and while it eventually calmed down we had it checked out and a VW dealer discovered poor quality repairs to a certain section of the wiring harness that were causing electrical issues. They asked if the car had been in an accident and there had been no record of any accident and no other evidence of one. We car was still under warranty, so we were able to get the harness replaced and it has been fine since.

Long story short, how do I get the full details of the buyback or lemon situation with the 2023 Subaru Solterra, and is there a way to get a detailed inspection before purchase?
