Meta Welcome to our community! Please read our FAQs first.

Welcome to r/dogfree! We invite you to participate in our discussions. First, however, whether you are new to our sub or a dog lover who just doesn’t quite understand where we are coming from, please take the time to read our sub FAQs so you can come to understand our community and the type of content that is appropriate for our small but mightily active corner of the world.

Why don't you like dogs?

Because: https://www.reddit.com/r/Dogfree/comments/7bk3wo/just_curious_what_is_the_reason_why_you/

I created a post asking why you don’t like dogs. Where did it go?

We receive and remove this question just about daily. This is our community's space to vent and commiserate about an unpopular opinion, not a place where we come to feel burdened with the task of having to justify ourselves constantly. If you would like to know why we don’t like dogs, you may read the link above and/or put some time and effort into browsing our sub.

It seems like the problem you all have is really more with dog owners. So you really do like dogs, just not irresponsible owners, right?

Our opinions are varied. However, true to the name of our sub, and though it might be a tough pill to swallow, we in this sub simply don't like dogs.

If your gripes are more about dog owners and not about dogs themselves, r/dogculturefree might be a better fit for you.

I like or own dogs. I just want to show you guys that not all dog owners are monsters. Can I participate here?

Please understand the intent of this sub. It is a place for people who dislike dogs and who unapologetically wish to be free from them in our everyday lives to commiserate, not for those who love dogs. Posts and comments mentioning that you love or own dogs fall out of line with the spirit of the sub.

In any case, we are not here to debate, as we won't change our minds.

I have to live with a dog, but I don't want to. Am I welcome here?

You may participate here from the perspective of someone who wishes to change the prevalence of dogs in society at large. However, please understand that hearing about dogs' disgusting behaviors and habits is what people come to this sub to escape, not to consume. If you wish to vent about the traits of the dog that you live with, please navigate to r/TalesFromTheDogHouse and direct your post there. r/Dogfree is reserved for discussion surrounding our unwitting and unwilling participation in dog culture at a societal level.

I have a dog, but I wish I wouldn't. Am I welcome here?

If you got a dog and now, as obviously expected, regret your decision, maybe you can help grow the supportive r/DogRegret community. You still may participate here but posts and comments mentioning that you own dogs fall out of line with the spirit of the sub. Of course, if you already got rid of your dog and are now dogfree, you are welcome to share your experience.

How do you feel about service dogs?

Although all dogs are dogs, there is a wide spectrum of opinions about service dogs in this sub. Some people are completely okay with them, while others are opposed where technology can do the job in a more effective, less obtrusive manner. The same would be for police dogs and other types of working dogs. Calling us "ableists" or other similar insults is not going to help your case.

If you would like to find out more information about this sub's opinions on service dogs, instead of creating a new post to pose the question, please enter "service dogs," "police dogs," or whatever info you would be interested in finding into the search bar to search the sub.

Someone on Reddit said that this sub likes to murder dogs. Is that true?

Of course not! We span a wide spectrum of reasons for disliking dogs, but we do not wish harm upon them and often find aspects of dog ownership to be more cruel and unethical than do dog owners themselves. In fact, our first and more important rule is against content that advocates animal abuse of any kind. It reads: "No suggesting, depicting, joking, wishing for, or celebrating violence or harm to dogs, other animals, or people. Promoting cruelty is not acceptable." We take this rule more seriously than any other, and we err on the side of caution when it comes to removing this type of content.

Some examples of off-limits content include depicting gratuitous violence against or amongst dogs, discussion of eating dogs, suggestions of deriving pleasure from a dog's death, and references to culling dogs, hitting, kicking, poisoning or shooting a dog with little or no cause.

It is okay to discuss the justified, humane euthanization of dogs. If you've had to live with a significant other's dog for years and wish to express relief over its natural passing, that's okay. Really, context is everything.

I posted a dog-related screenshot of something I saw on social media. Why isn’t it showing up?

Our community is small but extremely active. As the amount of content can be increasingly overwhelming as the sub grows, it’s important that the meaningful discussion does not get lost. Therefore, we have a sub rule that reads "[s]ubmissions should be thoughtful and should promote quality discussion. News articles and text posts are encouraged. Pictures of dogs or dog-related items, videos of dogs doing gross things, social media screenshots, memes, title-only posts, posts with minimal text, and anything that might be just ragebait are some examples of low-effort content that do not contribute anything of value to the conversation."

If you would like to post a social media screenshot or anything else that might fall under this category, please better create a thoughtful text post addressing the core issue in order to open the discussion.

I sent a post/comment linking a great video I watched in the internet, but it has been removed. Why?

We have a blanket rule that disallows links to social media in general, and videos in particular. The reason is very simple: as mods, we don't have the resources or time to check whether the video and the rest of the linked page comply with our rules and those of Reddit. If you need to mention a video, you can either describe it, or just indicate how to find it online. Also, please see below question about endorsing YouTube channels.

I think it would be fun to make a rude comment to a dog lover in another subreddit and/or tag r/dogfree. That's a good idea, right?

No, and please don’t! If we want dog owners to leave us alone on our subreddit, the first thing we should do is leave them alone on theirs. We encourage positive, civil, thoughtful conversation about dogs wherever you go, but if you need to vent, keep it here. When you troll other places on Reddit, it invites unwanted attention, reinforces negative stereotypes, and impedes our ability to create change in the world. This community is better than that.

Do I have to feel a certain way about keeping other pets or about having children to participate?

The topic that unites us in this sub is dogs. Feelings about other types of pets, negative or positive, and decisions whether or not to have children are considered off-topic for the sub. That said, these topics will arise in the normal course of conversation. We should respect the wide variance in views on these topics and always treat those with differing opinions kindly.

At the end of the day, we are dog-free, and we are pro-human.

By virtue of this sub being anti-dog, it means we are pro-cat, right?

No. Per our rule, this is neither a pro- nor anti-cat sub. All cat mentions and references are off topic for this subreddit and will be removed. Do not attempt to circumvent this rule through rephrasing.

At one time, we allowed free discussion of cats. We are not exaggerating when we say that every thread turned into "why cats are better." Many people here dislike cats or feel neutral to them, so in order for this sub to serve everybody and to avoid any confusion as to what type of cat discussion is relevant to being dogfree, it is considered off-topic across the board.

And remember that other pets are off-topic as well!

Should I be a certain race or of a certain political affiliation to participate?

One of the coolest things about r/dogfree is that, in a world that’s so divided along so many different lines, this is a community where we can come together, break down those barriers, and unite over something different with people from all walks of life. Just as dog culture transcends racial, political, socioeconomic, and gender lines, so does this subreddit. You may even find that your reasoning for something dog-related challenges your views on something completely unrelated.

This community strives to be respectful of all groups of people. As such, bigotry is not allowed, and political discussion is divisive and off-topic. Dogs? Fair game!

Do you have any information about the demographics of those who participate in this subreddit?

We conducted a survey on this particular topic some time ago. You can view the results here.

Why all the pit bull hate?

As much as we dislike dogs, we especially dislike this class of dogs that is statistically most capable of and responsible for inflicting catastrophic and often lethal harm upon people and their pets. You can apologize for pit bulls all day, but the stats and anecdotes don’t lie.

Pit Bull Triggers

Pit Bull FAQs

Of course, it's also true that all dogs are unpredictable: Dog Aggression Ladder

I know how I feel about pit bulls, but I need some additional information so I can make more articulate arguments. Where should I go?

For more specialized information on the topic of pit bulls, please visit r/banpitbulls. We have a very friendly relationship with r/banpitbulls, but please do remember that, while our subs overlap in many ways, we still have different objectives. Many people participate in that sub because they are tired of worrying about their own dogs getting mauled. Please feel free to go join the conversation over there, but remember that it is not r/dogfree and that the topic of discussion is pit bulls. Come back here to our own sub to talk about your distaste for dogs in general.

I saw some Facebook groups and YouTube channels about disliking dogs. Is that you, guys?

Nope, the only groups run by this sub are r/dogfree and r/TalesFromTheDoghouse. We don't operate or endorse any YouTube channels, Facebook groups, or anything else on any other social media platform. Our subscribers may mention their content here as long as it follows sub rules, but we are unaffiliated.

I saw a post or comment I think it's against the rules. What should I do?

Report it! On any post or comment, there is a "report" button. It will prompt you for further information as to why you are reporting the content to the moderators, who will then review it and determine whether or not it should be stay or be removed. Reports are anonymous and very helpful, as we can't see everything.

We also ask you to please never engage in any argument with a troll. Just report and go on.

Someone alluded to a conversation in another subreddit about dogs, and I really want to go down vote everything. Should I?

No, please don’t! This is called "brigading" or "vote manipulation," and it is against Reddit's Terms of Service. We actively discourage this behavior, as if we are found to be the source of a brigade against another sub, it could land us in big trouble. If you stumbled across a reference to another conversation on Reddit, the appropriate place to discuss that would be here, in our sub, in the thread in which you found it. Remember how it felt when a YouTuber made a video that resulted in a massive brigade against us; we must grant others the same respect for their space as we wish for ours, no matter how vehemently we disagree with them.

Our sub is committed to abiding by all Reddit Terms of Service.

I want to crosspost something from another part of Reddit. May I?

No, we have a rule that reads "crossposts are not allowed. Criticisms of other subreddits are off-topic." Besides calling usually-unwanted attention to other subs and promoting vote and participation brigades, it's off topic. The purpose of our sub is to discuss dogs, not the behavior of other subs or social media platforms. We don't appreciate it when others do it to us, so we have a policy of respecting other subs' right to exist and operate in the ways that they see fit.

My post or comment was removed, and I don’t feel like I broke any rules. Why?

Unfortunately we cannot account for every contingency in the sub rules, so moderators do reserve the right to remove content at their discretion. That said, the moderation team is very much against arbitrary censorship and is committed to letting the conversation happen whenever possible. "I don’t like it" is not a good reason to remove a post or a comment; however, "it would be in the best interest of the community" is. The team is committed to being firm but fair in community moderation and will make all decisions in good faith.

I found an article and posted it on r/dogfree, but with a different title than the original because mine is better. Now it's been deleted. Why?

Please remember that when you link to an article or news, you must always use the original title. If you want to comment something (and we really hope you'll share your opinion with us!), please use the text box or the post's comments. Thanks!

I agree with your sub and I want to create a new account only to participate here. Should I?

Bad idea! This is exactly what trolls do, and that is the very reason we have a filter against new accounts and low karma. Trolls are vile cowards by nature, they don't want to get downvoted, risk the reputation of their actual accounts or get a reddit permaban, so they use a secondary account or create a new one and think they can outsmart us.

There is no way to bypass this filter, so please do not ask us to make an exception only for you. Learn here how to get karma.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know our community! If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to message the mod team. We are delighted to receive your advice and suggestions, provided they are expressed politely.

Dog Culture I feel bad for saying this, but spending thousands of dollars on medical care for your dog is lunacy.

My dad had a customer who was crying, telling him about his dog. I think the dog was really sick or something? Point is, the customer said he spent $10,000 (TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS) on medical expenses at the animal hospital and is now broke. And, the dog is still not well.

Now, I found this to be absolutely ridiculous. This is the type of money that you’d spend on your HUMAN family like your parents or kids. Why would you spend that amount on a dog? If the dog is ill, well, as cruel as it sounds, just let nature take its course. (Unless you’re rich and can afford to spend $10k...)

Like, it’s a DOG. They only live 10-13 years. They’re not humans with long lives. I get it, you love your pet, but are they worth going into debt for?

This is the type of dog nuttery that we talk about on here. It’s like when people talk about how they don’t know if they would save a dog or baby. People have forgotten that dogs are just ANIMALS, who don’t even live for a long time, and are not the equivalent of your human loved ones who should live decades. Again I get it, you care for your dog, it’s sad that he’s ill, but come on.

Barking Demons Dog running around yapping at special needs school

My children are teens, Autistic, and terrified of dogs. Today, we went to look at a school that was specifically recommended to us for special needs people. My heart immediately sank when we barely walked in the door and a Yorkie runs up getting under everyone's feet and yapping. It even got behind me at one point and I almost stepped on it because I didn't see it. I was hoping that MAYBE it was only there that day for some reason but nope, after some inquiry it's a "therapy dog." 🙄 Sir, that is not a therapy dog, that's someone's poorly trained pet. Why do dog people have to ruin absolutely everything?

Miscellaneous Elderly and their massive dogs

Upvotes

DUDE what the fuck is up with elderly people an their propensity for owning huge hyperactive dog breeds. I know more old folks with multiple giant dogs than ones owning a single chihuahua or better yet no wobbling moving floor obstacle

Like they are a fall risk. I feel like they are begging to be sent straight to bed bound with a broken hip. I'm scared for several older family members making these idiotic decisions, but the dogs are their ~FaMiLy~. Fuckin hell man... boomers are something else!

Dog Culture TJX Stores are Pet Friendly

TLDR: Avoid all TJX owned stores if you value cleanliness, good hygiene, and clean air. Corporate confirmed they are pet friendly.

I went to Marshalls a couple weeks ago and saw two large dogs there. One kept shaking off on the clothes and even came up to me from under the clothes racks. The other was wearing a fake service animal vest and continuously jumped onto the checkout counter, likely conditioned to get dog treats that way. The poor woman working the register was clearly not happy about it.

I talked to the manager and told her about the dog shaking off throughout the store and how it triggered my allergies, and that someone’s emotions shouldn’t be considered more important than other shoppers’ health and enjoyment. She said some niceties and walked off as if she would address it, but 20 minutes later, the dog was still there.

A couple days later, I sent an email to Marshalls corporate customer service. The response I received screamed dog nutter culture. They confirmed they are pet friendly in places that allow it by law, and my state allows it, so there. Forget the fact that I told them they display a “Service animals welcome” sign on the front doors, as well as all the vile dog things I witnessed in the store.

I will no longer be shopping at any of the stores under the TJX umbrella. It saddens me because Marshalls was one of my favs!

Barking Demons I just had to open my big mouth!

A week or so ago I made a comment here about how there weren't any yappy dogs around my neighborhood. I just got a new neighbor and she has a little fucking yapper that barks at me if I so much as peek out my door. Here we go again with this shit! Really wish dogfree neighborhoods existed.

Miscellaneous Update from previous post: so, good news and bad news...

Hey guys, so about a month ago I made a post on here about how I reported a guy in my apartment complex for having an aggressive pitbull.

With that aside, I have both good news and bad news to share. Bad news first, the dog is still here. I know, I'm pissed too. I saw the managers hanging around the guy's building a few times. So I know they knew that the dog was there because I gave the guy's building number and pointed out which window was his apartment. I couldn't get the apartment number because the building doors have smart locks on them for each building. My key fob doesn't allow me into other buildings.

There is however some good news, I haven't been seeing the dog nearly as much as what I used to. The guy used to walk the dog around the neighborhood but I really haven't seen him do that since I filed the report. The only time I see the beast is when he takes it only a few feet outside of his building, lets it do its business, and he takes it right back inside. And yes, he does clean up after it. I haven't been hearing it barking in the streets since the report either.

I'm obviously upset that the dog is still here so I'm still going to collect evidence to hopefully get it out of the apartment complex for my safety and other's safety. But hey, its a start in the right direction 🤷‍♀️

Relationship / Family When my wife got a dog

"Can we get a dog?" my now ex-wife asked. I never knew how much trauma could be buried underneath 5 words. Why wouldn't these 5 words cause trauma? After everything I went through with my first wife, did I expect it all to just disappear?

She asked me this question in the living room of our apartment. We were weeks away from closing on our first home. My mind was riddled with the amount of labor I'd have to put forth. I'm intentional with what I think about. We have to move this entire apartment (it was a 2 bedroom. but it's alot when you know you'll be doing most of the manual labor. What makes me think this? She played Overcooked on the Switch and instead of... idk... COOKING? Her strategy is to direct everyone on what to do while standing everywhere except out of the way. But I digress). Well, I dodged the question somehow. I can't remember how exactly. Why would I? I have a huge move ahead of me.

Fast forward, and we've closed on the house. After 3 pain-staking back-breaking days, we'd manage to move in. And it was finally time to get adjusted to house living. I wanted to wake up, grab a newspaper from the front door in my robe and sip some coffee. I don't like coffee, but I'd pretend I do for this occasion.

Anyway, the first week we moved in, I was at work when I got a phone call from my wife.

"I need you to come with me to pick up this dog"

"What tf are you talking about?"

"When tf did we agree to get a dog?"

"Fuck no"

All of these replies entered my head, but the only one I managed to say was

"Ok"

I left work and met her at the owner's house. There he was. Outside, being held on a leash by his 2 owners. They were military as well. They were moving and couldn't take the dog. I looked at him. Mr. Fluffington looked at me. And the only thing I could think was

"Yes. This is a dog"

All goes well. My wife handles the transaction, the dog excitedly jumped into her car, I went back to work and disassociated. She went home with her new dog. A few more hours pass by when I get another phone call. This time, much more frantic and afraid

Her: "I need you to come and get this dog!"

Me: "Why?"

Her: "He's going crazy!!"

Me: "What's he doing?"

Her: "He's jumping up and running"

*silence*

Please note: this silence was due to my lack of any sense of danger. I had a dog, when I lived in the country as a child. He stayed outside. So I knew, dogs jump up and run. She, evidently, did not.

Me: "Can you tell me what the problem is exactly?"

Her: "He keeps jumping up and down"

Me: "where is he?"

Her: "I locked him in the bathroom"

Reader, I may not like dogs. But I'll be dammed if I standby and let a dog be locked in my bathroom due to someone else's ignorance. Some shit just ain't right.

I hurried home and immediately opened the bathroom. The dog walked out with a strange essence about him. The kind of essence that says "I wouldn't go in there if I were you". He didn't poop or nothing, but it did strike a bit of fear in me. I guess I'd gotten a glimpse as to the emergency. The dog walked like a boss. So imagine yourself walking up to your own bathroom door, opening the door in one swift motion, like a samurai, and your boss just walks out. Not only walks out, but walks out like he knows 2 things

  1. It's okay for him to be here

  2. You're the only one surprised he's here

It did something to me in those short 4 seconds.

I told her to never just lock a dog in a bathroom. And that dogs are going tojump and run. Its what they do.

Anyways

Maybe Mr. Fluffington was my boss?

I was the one walking and picking up after the dog. She was content with the attention that comes with having a dog. Or so it seemed. Idk what she was content with.

After the divorced was finalized, and I had moved out. Weeks go by, when I get a text

Her: hey, you have some mail here

Me: return it to sender

Her: you don't want to pick it up? Mr. Fluffington says he misses you.

Me: *knows that dogs have such a keen sense of smell*

Also Me: He knows where to find me

Her: ok

So yeah.

I also recall her attempting to argue with me earlier in our marriage over who would keep the dog. I remember it as follows:

Her: Just so you know, if we get a divorce I'm keeping Mr. Fluffington

Me: *attempting to set a firm boundary while concealing my rabid excitement in placing said boundary in order to not be perceived negatively*

Also Me: Ok

But anyway, just wanted to share this. Maybe someone can relate in someway. There's not much of a point to this post. But it feels good to let it out. If you feel something in this, you're not alone. Believe you me.

Crappy Owners It never ends

Neighbors we share a fence with that rent the house had a dog and moved out. I was very happy their stupid idiot dog would be gone. But no, the new neighbors have a big black dumb doberman that they keep outside all day long which does not have it's balls cut off.

It whines at all the time to be let in when they are home in the evening and ofcourse they dont do it right away. It barks for nothing the rest of the time and it is a loud bark as you can imagine.

It barks at us when we are in the yard and when we confronted them the woman replied " well thats what they are supposed to do". We said keep it inside. "No, we dont want it to make a mess". This is just the plain mentality of 99% of dog owners. So when people say contact owners and be freindly, I dont do that anymore. Ive lost faith in people. No one cares if they are annoying others.

I dont mind it most of the time as I am at work, but we just got back from a very difficult trip where I am sick with sever congestion and wanted to sleep during the day but I have anxiety thinking is this going to bark any moment now and I can't sleep. I sent then an ordinance complaint from the city. Dog still barks every now and then because it is outside. I just cant stand it and I feel like there is nothing that can be done. Those antibark devices I think do not work well. Should I use a dog whistle?

Crappy Owners They say dogs can sense evil. But even Hitler had a dog.

I am tired of these dog nutters saying if my dog doesn't like you that means you are a bad person. Or something like how not liking dogs is equal to being evil. But i am pretty sure every criminal i come across. Like for example american mafia had dogs. I mean ffs even Hitler had a dog. The way redditors love to throw nazi as a insult to each other. But does it mean then? Was hitlers dog too poor baby to sense evil? Lmao.

Dog Culture So tired of unleashed dogs

I live in LA which is dog nutter capital of the world. It was a nice, hot, and sunny day today and I just wanted some alone time and to relax before the work week. I went to my local park to lay down in the grass on my yoga mat, so I packed a picnic, a book, and an edible. I made this bomb ass sandwich with leftover steak I grilled yesterday, some Jarlsberg cheese, arugula, and caramelized onions. I popped my edible and started reading my book and planned on eating my sandwich right when the edible hit.

Now this park allows dogs only if they are leashed but of course not a single dog was on a leash. Right when I was high off my mind on my edible, I opened up my sandwich and in a split second two unleashed demons come sprinting at me. They tackle me and I drop my beautiful sandwich and they start devouring my precious, delicious creation. Of course the demons’ owners come running over giving fake apologies and chuckling at the situation, while I’m just in shock at the loss of my sandwich that was going to hit so hard.

I’m too high and stunned to even speak and tell them to fuck off, which I regret not doing. After they left I start sobbing because I’m so hungry and fucking pissed, luckily there was a food truck nearby and I bought this bomb ass burrito so the day was salvaged.

I just don’t understand why these dog nutters can’t follow the rules of the park and keep their demons on a leash? There’s literally a dog park half a mile down the road where they can unleash their demons without breaking the rules. Why do they have to subject us to their stupid dogs. Not everyone wants to interact with you dirty, slobbery, annoying, sandwich-thieving mutts. Some of us just want to spend time in the park alone and unbothered.

Crappy Owners Puppy in my pet free apartment complex ran at me and the owner was rude to me

ugh I normally only lurk in this group and view posts but I HAVE to tell this story…

I live in an apartment complex that is pet free, and even has their no pet policy online..

This asshole lady lives in the complex and somehow has an untrained puppy that’s allowed to stay, today her dog ran at me as I was trying to go to the pool and I yelled that I was allergic and was scared… it doesn’t help that I’m autistic, and have sensory issues around loud, dirty shitbeasts… so obviously I yelled and backed away so it didn’t get to me.. and my allergies are real.. I’ve gotten sick because of these shitmutts.. when she finally caught her mutt by the collar, she glared at me and told me to “get a grip”

I called and left a message to report it but I’m afraid of seeing this bitch again… I’m afraid they won’t do anything about it… I fucking hate dogs, dog people, and this entire fucking culture around these fucking useless beasts..

Crappy Owners Dogs on products.

I still work in a Hardware store/warehouse, and the nutters still bring their beasts in. Lately this bloke has been bringing in this little mutated stuffed animal, and it's always carried, never on a lead.

The town I work in has a clear lead ordinance. So guy comes in, as usual, and goes to the patio section in front of my departments desk. Theres 2 people already sitting, and he brings the dog over and puts in on the table in front of them.

This nutter put his disgusting animal on our table display, which is where our night crew sometimes sit for lunch. It's also a table that ends up being sold, so an unsuspecting customer has dog ass residue for free now I guess.

Thankfully my manager agreed to tell him off next time he comes in, since he wasn't around this time in order to.

Barking Demons Can't stand dogs

I need validation because I am surrounded by fucking dog lovers (except my husband) and need to rant BIG.

Dog owners are so entitled it's insane. They need to have their own dog country. I live in a small town in the US and they have a backyard that borders mine so basically diagonal from my bedroom window. These fucking people every single day have their dog out back barking for HOURS non-stop. I mean this dog genuinely barks without even a breath for hours. The owners clearly have a dog door and leave the house. I contacted non emergency police twice at the beginning of the year which did nothing. Finally I called the animal control officer and he finally went to their house and warned them of a citation if they keep it up. I've had 3 somewhat peaceful days and now another neighbor on the other side of the street has a fucking mutt barking nonstop. Does it ever end?

Let's recap from my last post why dogs are the absolute worst and their owners deserve to go live secluded:

  1. They let them bark for hours outside and do NOTHING.

  2. They leave windows/doors open and allow them to bark at every single thing passing by without telling them to stop so I can never have a walk in peace.

  3. They let them bark and tug on the leash while I'm walking by without apologizing or stopping it and lets not forget about the owners who let them run off leash. Don't approach me without consent. I had one viciously tug at the leash and bark super loud and the owner just laughed it off saying he really wants us. WHAT THE ??

  4. They get offended when you don't love their dog, pet it, or compliment it. THIS ONE BURNS ME. My husband's family all fucking love dogs and they let their dogs run around while we're there and don't tell it no or to stop. Everytime we eat dinner, they don't block the dog from going to the dining area so it sits there begging for food and licking my leg. It almost jumped into my chair once. They know I fucking despise them and once the dog was jumping on my leg and licking me. I kept shooing it and she was literally just sneering the whole time not even saying anything. Ever since, I literally never go to their houses anymore. My husband also fucking hates them so he doesn't either. It's not even worth it.

  5. They expect everyone to be okay with dogs and not set boundaries if I say I'm allergic or don't want them near me. You have to love dogs or you're fucking evil I guess.

  6. They call themselves "dog moms" YOU'RE NOT A FUCKING MOM DON'T EVEN TRY TO COMPARE (I am an actual mom btw) and pamper them with spas and bubble parties. Look up the dog spa in Scottsdale. Holy fuck it's embarrassing and those people shouldn't be allowed to have money. There are people genuinely struggling financially and then we have these fucking people spending on a fucking dog who doesn't even have awareness. I can't even tell you the amount of fucking stupid ass influencers getting rich off staying at home jobless taking care of their "kids" and acting like it's a hard life. DOGS NOT KIDS. Why do people spend thousands on a fucking animal I will never understand. I will be pet free FOREVER.

  7. They don't pick up after them! I literally NEVER walk through grass or fields anymore because of it. Fucking nasty evil. I saw a dog sniffing through my front yard rocks one time and I swear if I would've seen it go to the bathroom I would've screamed at them.

  8. They bring their dogs EVERYWHERE in public. For example, a lady had a disgusting old terrier in her arms at a subway ordering food. NOT EVEN SERVICE DOGS!!

  9. LASTLY, they don't fucking train them at all! They jump on people, bark, and genuinely behave like SHIT and the owners say "well that's what a dog does" I can't even tell you how many fucking people on nextdoor call me a liar and over dramatic and a Karen for complaining about the constant barking. It's sickening how they rush to the perpetrators defense. Why do WE have to get over it?? How about you fucking have common decency and train your stupid ass disgusting mutt.

P.S. dogs are just generally fucking disgusting. I don't think they should be allowed in apartments that's fucking crazy and they need to start a protest at City Hall to start citing people immediately for not picking up dog waste and letting them bark and bringing them in public. It's out of control. We need dna testing or some shit.

Have a great day and thank you for listening to my rant. BTW I am SUPER fucking pissed right now because of a barking dog last night.

Barking Demons I don't see the appeal of small dogs especially

Seriously, they're aggressive, they bark at and attack anything that moves (including random strangers outside), they're ugly, annoying, look ridiculous and have those nasty repulsive brownish red stains under their eyes and mouth all the time.

What the hell is the appeal of these dogs? They are stupid and ungrateful to their own owners who feed and bathe them, I have seen numerous videos of those toilet mop/dust cleaner-looking things attacking their owners for merely having something as minor as an ice cube get in their way.

Miscellaneous I felt like I was humiliated by a dog

My hatred for dogs started when I was a young teen. I believe I was like 12 or 13 years old and me and my sister were visiting our relatives for a week. They have a huge dog. It's not tall, but it's kinda like a pitbull. Just strong and very muscular too.

There were many things that annoyed me about it. It was not fixed, so it's behaviour was ten times worse of all dogs I've met before. Worst of all was it shoving its snout between my legs to smell me. It made me so uncomfortable and I couldn't push it away that easy because I was only a tween and the dog was heavy. I couldn't even eat by the table without it constantly trying to sniff me. My sister and I were so uncomfortable, but even our relatives weren't able to hold it back because the dog was strong.

That behaviour freaked me out, honestly. I was stuck with that hormonal dog and I was just a kid! I honestly felt so embarrassed and also humiliated and ashamed of myself. I was so grossed out and icky.

That dog had many horrible other traits with made me hate it, but the sniffing was the worst. Im sorry, but I don't think anybody would enjoy a dog shoving their snout into their private area.

Barking Demons New Jersey Lottery Launches “Jersey Dog” Scratch-Off Featuring Local Dogs

(I'm an idiot, I had originally posted a link to TV spots on YT, which is forbidden.)

The State of New Jersey has released new Lotto games featuring dogs!

That's right, there are now Lotto games that feature and focus on the love that nutters have for their animals.

These TV spots play right into it with talking dogs, wooing over the Scratch off tickets, commenting on the cute mascots.

So, not only will they be nutters, but broke nutters, because surely the nutters will be playing $5 scratch off games just because "awwww, such a cute dog!"

Crappy Owners another walk ruined

I've been walking on backroads closer to home instead of driving out to trails to save gas money. I find a nice peaceful place to walk around. someone's dumb ass boxer comes running out toward me. luckily i prepare for these moments but ugh. i should not have to have a "this is it" moment every time i go for a walk.

naturally, the dumbass owner stood 30 feet behind the mutt ineffectually shouting at it. anyone notice dog owners always do that? instead of walking up and grabbing to the mutt who is menacing a stranger, they stand away and just yell at it.

i've had this happen many times on walks. they ALWAYS stand back and let their dog run up and potentially bite strangers. maybe dog bites should carry way more liability than they do currently hrm.

Relationship / Family My sister is choosing her dog over her health

My sister wants to come spend some time at my mothers house because she claims she’s not doing too well mentally. My mum said yes but without her dog. My sister got upset and said that my mum is rejecting her. According to my sister rejecting her dog is rejecting her. Mind you my mum has recently spent a lot of money renovating the house. Getting new furniture etc. When my sister comes to visit, the dog peed on my mums new carpet TWICE and my sister didn’t even tell the dog off. Or offer to clean the carpet after. My mum has told me that my sister has asked to come spend some time at the house AGAIN with the dog and my mum told her the same thing AGAIN that she can come but without the dog. My brother went to get my sister and she refused to leave her flat because she can’t take her dog with her. My brother is guilt tripping my mum to say that her main concern should be my sister not the dog but I told my mum to stand her ground on the no dog rule. How rude and inconsiderate must you be to feel you can overstep someone’s boundaries in their OWN HOUSE by refusing to leave your dog. I feel like a lot of these dog lovers are deranged. And my sister was going down that road a long time ago when she chose to isolate herself from the family and cling on to this animal. Now she needs help but refuse to separate herself from the animal and it’s somehow everyone’s fault. My sister’s flat that used to look nice some years ago I’ve heard it is now a mess. The floorboards and skirting boards ruined . Place cluttered and untidy. She’s spent years looking at my mum work 14hr shifts, saving and renovating the house little by little only to feel entitled now that it’s finished to bring the same mutt that ruined her flat and her life onto other people. I really cannot understand these people and I’m so mad at her behaviour.

Dog Culture I never liked dogs since being a child because I knew if they bite me I would be in serious trouble. Why do so many adults have dogs and on top of it let them 40kg trash roam leash free especially where it's not somewhere like a forest where there is almost no one.

Wannabe Alpha syndrome ?

They get off on the FALSE feeling of having a weapon roaming free and them being able to control it it any situation with just words ?

Do not tell me I'm right. They endanger every fucking humans and animals they cross path with, just to get that high ?

Almost attacked by a dog 1 week ago again, hmm I can't remember the last time any other animal tried to attack me. How fucking strange. That old bitch had a 5m long leach but fortunately the dog wasn't really big and it "felt" "saw" whatever it is he shouldn't fuck with me.

Dog Attack 85-year old woman killed by dogs in attack in North Carolina; owner charged with manslaughter

If this has already been posted, then I apologize. I looked through the past 4-5 days of posts, and did not see it, though.

I am glad that the owner is facing charges, but I am so sorry that this woman lived to be 85 years, only to succumb to something totally preventable.

Crappy Owners I contacted The Department of Agriculture over dogs inside of Walmart

I’ve made several posts on here about how I constantly see dogs inside of Walmart and other retail places. I tried contacting the Department of health before, but I got a email saying I had to contact the Department of agriculture. I finally sent them an email when I saw two dogs inside of Walmart the other night. One was a poodle on a leash, and another was some kind of husky.

It’s ridiculous how there’s just nonstop dogs inside of grocery stores and retail places now. I mean, I’m just perplexed how this is even a thing. If I went back 10 years ago, I wouldn’t see any animals inside of a store. I think of all the dogs that I’ve seen inside of businesses, maybe like 5% were actual service animals.

Most people who have a service animal cannot stand these dog nutters either. I’m tired of not being able to shop without seeing a slobbering nasty mutt. I’m also tired of Walmart and other retailers not doing anything about it. Hell, even Costco where you have to pay to have a membership, allow these stupid mutts inside. We really need some laws passed about this.

Crappy Owners I'm at a park in NYC watching an owner eat ice cream from the same spoon that she's using to feed her dog

I'm currently sitting in a park in NYC, watching an owner share ice cream from the same spoon and bowl as her dog. So gross. Is this common amongst owners? And don't dogs lick their buttholes and privates?!
