Question Do u hit your heel NSFW
Everyone has heard heel toe knee before but do you need to hit ur heel personally I don't do you guys and do u think it's bad to not hit your heel on the penetration step

The only "bad" penetration step is the one that doesn't allow you to gain control of their leg.
That being said, being explosive requires a weight shift from your back leg to your front as you step forward and start dropping to that knee and its generally hard to accomplish that if your weight isn't rolling across your heel on the way

I try not to emphasize this as a coaching point because it caused me to have to correct some bad habits once I got to college.
Heel/toe/knee helps people get the motion right, but in my case it caused me to lose power because I was “pulling” myself into the shot with my lead leg. It’s much more explosive to focus on driving off the back leg. Does my heel hit first? Maybe incidentally. What matters more is engaging your back leg and getting to the opponent’s leg with your knee, hip, chest, and head in a straight line.

I’ve never heard this saying before, but leading with and putting your weight on your heel just sounds like a bad idea.

well a good penetration step involves stepping as deep between your opponent's legs as possible. If you're not hitting your heel you're probably not stepping deep enough on your penetration step.
