Free Jewelry Appraisals

Does anyone know of a jeweler that provides written appraisals for jewelry? I have a ring that I would like appraised to insure but it seems all the jewelers I have gone to charge for appraisals. I’m new to the area and had never previously been charged for appraisals, so I was surprised about this!

Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Politics whats actual LOCAL changes you would want to see in Mesa?

I’m talking about changes in Mesa, not all around AZ. I feel like when I try to talk about local changes with people it turns into a whole conversation about state/country changes instead of local, so I want to hear what people have to say

Lost Dog Spotted Near McKellips and Harris

Is anyone missing their dog?

I spotted a large dog with a collar near N Harris Dr and E Lockwood St around 8:30 on my way home from work. I tried to read the tag on his collar but couldn't get him to stay still. I followed him South toward the golf course nearby but lost him after that.

I want to explore babysitting

Hi everyone, I'm 17 (turning 18 in a couple of months) and will be spending the summer in Mesa. I've been thinking about getting into babysitting because I genuinely love being around babies, toddlers, and kids.

I do have useful certifications . My biggest concern is my age. When parents are looking for a babysitter, would you generally prefer, say, an older college student with more experience, or would you consider hiring a responsible teenager who is certified, dependable, and genuinely enjoys childcare?

I'd like to hear what parents in the Mesa area look for when choosing a babysitter and whether age is a major factor for you.

Anyone have tickets to the Turkish National Team Community day event that will be training here in Mesa on June 8th? I’d be interested in buying.

The Turkish National Team will be based here in Mesa, Arizona during the World Cup, and Arizona Athletic Grounds/Visit Mesa recently released tickets for a public training event.

The tickets went live on Wednesday, May 27, at 3 PM and were completely free. Unfortunately, the ticket release seemed to be handled poorly. Within about 30–45 minutes, everything was sold out. From what I’ve heard, some people were able to reserve far more tickets than they actually needed, which likely contributed to the issue.

As a Turkish-American, getting the chance to watch our national team train—and possibly even meet some of the players—would be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me.

I’ve searched online but haven’t been able to find any information about whether people are reselling extra tickets or where they might be available. I’m not looking for anything shady; I’m simply willing to pay someone who has legitimate extra tickets they won’t be using.

If anyone has any information, resources, leads, or knows of a place where people are discussing ticket transfers, I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance for any help.

Storage Unit Suggestions

Hi everybody,

I'm looking for a climate controlled storage unit that's not going to raise my rates every 3 months just because.

I just left Dollar Self storage after 3 years because of it. Moved to Extra Space Storage because when I called and asked them if they would do the same, they said no.

Before the introductory rate was even over they raised my base rent 62%.

I'd love some recommendations. Thank you!

*Helpful comments only please. I don't need anyone else to just comment "That's how these companies work". It's not productive or helpful. *

Anyone know anyone hiring for a job $20 and up?

I’m honestly willing to work anything at this point. I can do anything customer service, accounting, hr, etc. I have experience in all three. I can’t really do anything physically demanding like construction, or trades I’m not that strong and I’m a female who has a hard time with jobs like that. But anything else I’m open to. Please let me know if you guys have anything. Thanks 🙏

Pokémon cards for Father’s Day (help)

I have checked the Pokémon vending machine at my local Safeway (Power & McKellips) everyday this week in hopes of getting some packs for my Husband for Father’s Day with zero luck. With the holiday approaching, I’m starting to get nervous. Do you know of any other vending locations in Mesa that don’t get wiped out by scalpers immediately after restock? Or maybe a store? I can’t believe how hard it is now to get them. Thank you in advance!

Suggestions for an affordable vet?

Hey all,

I’m looking for an affordable vet where I can even make payments if possible.

I recently inherited my sisters corgi since she is now traveling for work and first thing I noticed was a soft feeling bump the size of a baseball on her chest and a little bb sized bump on her neck.

When I asked her about it she claims it’s just a fatty tumor and not to worry about it but I do.

So far me and jojo (corgi) get along really well and she’s such a sweetheart. I want to get her the help and care she deserves.

Apartment hunting!

This may be a long shot but I’m moving from Phoenix to Mesa and looking to get some insights to apartments before making the drive over for a tour. Anyone by any chance live at Mesa station apartments and have any input? I know reviews can be rewarded and pictures online can look way better in person. I’m looking to move somewhere in between broadway and university and keep monthly costs under 1300 so this is my number one pick rn!

River view park

Why at any given time are there 5 golf carts with government employees/ contractors who sit there and do nothing? Both photos taken within 30s of each other, just golf carts parked.

Why can’t we have 1, maybe 2 people doing this, instead of 5? It’s a waste of tax payers money. I’d rather spend that money to planting more trees in the park. Also genuine question, what is their job??

Edit- I walk here everyday. This is not a one time thing.

Moving to Mesa. Questions on area.

Hi all,

I’m planning a move to Mesa from central Phoenix and am trying to get some local input. I searched but didn’t find a lot of the area.

I’m looking at Val Vista and Brown. It seems like a pretty nice area. Commute will be into Tempe (probably along brown then rio salado). It also seems like this area is fairly far from everything other than falcon field. On one hand that is nice but on the other I don’t want to feel isolated. Anyone familiar with the area and have opinions?

I also do a lot of running. Are the canals in that area safe?

My dog bit two people, looking for information.

Update: looks like they're not going to come and take them or put down either of the dogs. Huge relief. We will be getting cited for the dogs at large however.

Not sure where to put this so I'm throwing it here, looking for information. On Saturday, my 2 dogs escaped my backyard and ran off. The side gate was unlatched so they were able to push it open. One of them is not friendly to strangers, and bit two people. The police were called, and they tased him trying to apprehend him. My girlfriend walked up on them and was able to calm him down and bring him inside before it progressed past that. They made a police report and explained that animal control would likely contact us today, but it's memorial Day so they're closed. We had a trip planned for this week, Tuesday-Sunday, and we're trying to figure out if they are going to show up during the week or not to investigate. We would want to be home if that was the case. I've read that there's a 10 day rabies quarantine, which we would still be in compliance with either way as they would not be leaving the house. Does anyone have any experience with Mesa animal control inspections? Are they prone to showing up unannounced?

Further info- neither of the dogs have a history of bites. This is both me and my girlfriend's first time dealing with a case like this.
