Also All Pierogi Kitchen is sooo good. They have a Euro market in the restaurant too, pretty cool to check out while you’re there

Blue Adobe is my favorite Mesa restaurant - very flavorful food, good portions, reasonably priced and the best salsa I've ever had. Also enjoy Gus' Chicken, Worth Takeaway and Espirutu.

Can confirm they are all good, this dude knows what he’s talking about. Not sure Worth is the best spot for dinner though, more of a lunch place but delicious!!

What's Crackin' at power and mcdowell has happy hour from 12:30-close every day (i go for happy hour at least a couple weekends per month). They are mainly a breakfast/lunch place so they close at like 4:30 most days, but on thurs and friday they are open until late in the evening, and on fridays they have live music (i go for that sometimes too).
Zugoi sushi (formerly called Sushi Kee, the same people have owned it forever) is my favorite sushi place, it's on power and main.
Cracker's Cafe on greenfield and brown is my hands down favorite breakfast spot. The french toast is incredible!
In downtown mesa, Goat & Ram pizza (inside Phantom Fox brewery) is incredible, and also in downtown mesa is Gus's Fried Chicken, which is sooooo good.
I have lived here 20 years so i have discovered a lot of favorites. 😂

Susie’s Mexican Cafe! It’s on the border of Tempe on University and the 101, and has been a staple since the 60s. Delicious food and great lunch special deals (with 1 cent beers!)

I like Jimmy G’s! They give you a huge portion of pasta. Their cannolis are really good too.

Green corner is awesome for Mediterranean.
Chilaquiles is a great Mexican brunch spot with a nice bar.
Baby Kay’s has the best wings in the valley (lulu wings for the win), and the rest of the menu is Cajun. It’s been my go to for decades.
For Asian food hit up places at Mekong market. There’s a whole plaza of stuff to chose from, and h mart plaza is across the street. Tons to explore and try!

I get excited every time I see these posts, but then I remember I'm in this boring pocket of Mesa that you referenced and I'd have to drive downtown for everything else. I agree with your recs though.

I’m on a hunt to find good stuff in this area. There is also asi es me Tierra which is BOMB trad Mexican food, that’s on the edge of AJ. Thai patio is extremely good. Red white and brew has its specials I really enjoy, where else can you get liver and onions? I know I’m weird, I eat everything. Zushi is good sushi.
I agree with you though, I wish there were more “hidden gems” over here. 5 R Cha is good Thai but I find I’m addicted to Thai patios curry more.

Got Sushi has become a favorite due to their prices and friendliness. I used to frequent Zushi before that. Sonsons is good if you like pasties.

I love the food court at Hmart for quick Korean food. Grab some ban chan sides inside the store first and you’ll have a yummy meal (or several).

I’m biased but Red White and Brew on Power and McDowell. It’s modern American-esque with some different ethnic flairs and rotating specials.
I’d recommend going in the evening, nice vibes inside. Expect to spend $20-50 per person. Most of the entrees go for ~$20 with some specials like sea bass and New York strip approaching 50.
Local business though, been here a while, type of place the managers come out and check how things are.
In Asian Mesa, KPOT. All you can eat hot pot and Korean bbq. Favorite restaurant in Arizona.

I love red, white and brew. Most my high school friends worked there as their first “adult job” after graduating. I remember when there was nothing at the corner but a Bashas and Albertsons. The jack in the box opening was a big deal lol.
I grew up off of Ricardo St and McDowell.

Hapa Foods Company on the SE corner of Southern and Higley is the best Hawaiian food, I love the kalbi ribs and their mac salad and they always have a few good desserts 🤙🏽🌺🤙🏽

Il Forno Bello Pizzeria (McKellips west of Val Vista) followed by Dolce Vita (Higley and Brown) for gelato.

Plus one on dolce vita. If you want genuine Italian paninis, here. Then also their gelato is the best in the valley. Source: we knew the original owners. This tastes like my childhood in Sicily.

There is a whole group of little Asian restaurants next to the Asiana Market on Dobson and Southern. It's to the left of the Walgreens and Food market. But the doors to the right of the Korean BBQ place. (Which is also good). There is a Wendy's and Taco Bell out front of the place.

Taco Chefs. Don't judge off the area or outside of the place, its insanely good and the inside is a vibe, super clean and the service is top notch. They hand make everything.

Guadalupe on Main

Love the Guad on Main. I live around the neighborhood and the owner (you'll see him always working behind the bar) hand wrote letters and envelopes and mailed out free coupons for churros to tons of the surrounding blocks. He was so grateful when we came to cash in on churros he shook our hands, remembered our unique street name, was genuinely so grateful and happy we came. Great food and amazing cocktails.
Oh, also, right down the road in downtown Mesa check out Que Chevre and get a cachapa. I crave one weekly.
**Edited because it's cachapa not cachapo. Miss me autocorrect.

Oh yeah dirty mike is my boy, I’ve followed him from bar to bar for years! He takes such good care of his customers. And I work on Main so QC is a staple too!

Waldo’s BBQ! I don’t usually like meat, but I crave the country ribs from there all the time.
