Tell me this... Looking wood for smoking (BBQ)
I'm looking for seasoned logs of oak and apple wood, does anyone know of anywhere in the local area I can get these
New Parades Website
https://www.reddit.com/r/northernireland/s/UUR1PnXNsI
This seems much more user friendly than the actual parades commission's website. Figured it might be useful to a few others in here

Tell me this... Sick today after McDonalds yesterday evening
Wondering if anyone has had the same experience. Myself and my partner and two kids got a feed from the drive through. Straight away I was letting off the rottenest farts you could imagine. 3 of us are sick today. My partner is pretty bad in bed all day. Wee girl can’t keep anything down but is feeling fine the rest of the time. I’ve a sore stomach and a bit of diarrhoea. Lovely stuff. The wee lad is fine. Not blaming McDonalds for sure as there is a vomiting bug going round. And I don’t want to be sued by a multinational corporation.

Tell me this... Local artist / illustrator wanted
I am in search of someone to commission a painting/drawing of a building in Newry that I would be gifting to a family member. I have had a search and it's been hard to find who to go to or ask. I am not in the artsy circles and I don't want an AI generated esty type print. Any ideas or recommendations?

Newry Mourne and Down currently has the highest house price growth in the UK
Hi all,
I run a house price / forecsating blog. According to the latest ONS data, Newry Mourne and Down has the highest house price increase of any local authority in the UK over the last 12 months at +11.6%, well ahead of the rest of the country.
Northern Ireland as a region is also leading nationally, but Newry specifically is at the very top of the table.
I'd be really interested to hear from locals, what's driving this? Is it people moving from Belfast? Cross-border demand from the Republic given the currency and price differences? Something changing locally with new developments or employers?
Happy to answer any questions about the underlying data in the comments.

Fierce pricey hai Food bank donations at Tesco today
The Larder is in need to donations. I was able to get a good bit for them using multi buy deals with my club card and only spend £20. I also bought toothbrushes and wipes, which were very appreciated. Any hygiene products would be. I should have gotten some feminine hygiene stuff as well but I didnt think.
Anyway, support your local food bank you can.

Head the ball Parade and donations
Parked the car and walked to our regular Chinese takeaway last night. While waiting for my order 2 of the parade lads came in with a bucket for donations, set it on the counter. Demanded that the lady should make a donation. She said no- due to the amount of customers she had to turn away yesterday, she lost income as the road was closed for the parade. They became threatening and told her she needs to donate to local people or there “will be consequences”
Is it not enough that the roads are closed to local business but workers and owners are also being threatened like this? I don’t care if people want to march but im sick of this shite

Newry's Cla New curry place on the warrenpoint road
Best curry I’ve had over here after living in England for years. Tried loads of places in Belfast, and all were totally forgettable, so it’s mental to find a place as good as Royal Kebab and Curry beside Mauds ice cream on the warrenpoint road. Family business. As good as any curry place I’ve had in England.

Shamless Plug Shameless plug: Mourne Diner
We're all about supporting local around here, and what better way than to plug a local business that'll feed you for a fiver.
It's a lovely wee diner just behind Nationwide on Hill Street. I went in today and had a nice lunch with the wife and kids. It's only been open since the start of the year, and kids eat free on Sundays.
Maybe give it a go if you're in the area. (I get nothing for this post, and am not associated with them, I just like to see hard working people get the success they deserve).

--
While we're at it... is there any other shamless plugs anyone wants to shout out?

State of it Greedy nhs dentists
Is all the dentists in newry greedy bstrds or just the few? Tried joining couple and they said they are not taking on NHS patients at the moment and only doing private treatments, also if you check their reviews a lot of southerners positive reviewing about the cost but locals also. Seems care and compassion is lacking with some of these dentists and they are chasing the money instead. It's a worrying thing that you go to see a doctor and the doctors main interest is how to get money out of you rather than give safe and long term treatment.
