Head the ball Parade and donations
Parked the car and walked to our regular Chinese takeaway last night. While waiting for my order 2 of the parade lads came in with a bucket for donations, set it on the counter. Demanded that the lady should make a donation. She said no- due to the amount of customers she had to turn away yesterday, she lost income as the road was closed for the parade. They became threatening and told her she needs to donate to local people or there “will be consequences”
Is it not enough that the roads are closed to local business but workers and owners are also being threatened like this? I don’t care if people want to march but im sick of this shite

I wish the parades commission would just veto the fuckers, a parade that requires that amount of policing goes to show you what the median Newry person thinks of those 🟠w⚓️s

Idk why they feel so entitled to have parades at night? Like where do they get off with the self importance, kids are going to bed, people are trying to get home from work but sure let’s have Billy big balls run up and down the street smashing his drums and blowing his horns.
What is the ACTUAL purpose of them?

Aside from their own wee burger van and Tesco, it does fuck all for the town.
2
u/newrynyuck Apr 19 '26
Thing is, the majority of people going to those parades are just there for a good time. I passed through it and it was all grand. It only takes one or two "hard men" to really bring down the reputation of the whole community.
I'd recommend the Chinese Takeaway give their footage to the cops. That sounds very much like extortion.
1
u/ReasonableWish7555 Apr 19 '26
Could you rely on the cops actually investigating and bringing charges? Doubt it
3
u/Free_my_fish Apr 19 '26
They wouldn’t do anything but it would have to be recorded and could be helpful in objecting the parade next year
1
u/NoBrickBoy Apr 19 '26
The RUC is on their side anyway, nothing would be done.
1
u/ReasonableWish7555 Apr 19 '26
Exactly my point, half of them probably attend their own orange marches

Bus loads of the cunts dredged in from Banbridge, Rathfriland and any other black hole. Aye "local". Fucking scumbags must be getting anxious now, more and more desperate ever year with their attention seeking scare tactics.

u/newrynyuck Apr 19 '26
I saw one band from Craigavon. They certainly like to go around and parade all over the North. I can understand they enjoy it. But it also makes it look more popular than it is in the local area. It was very well policed though and behaviour was very good, from what I saw.

Same story for Newry as it is for Derry. Time local people got off their arses and started protesting these parades if they dislike them so much. No point moaning. Although a lot of people are scared of being called "sectarian" if they do.

u/VeryDerryMe Apr 19 '26
In Derry we reached accommodation after many years of talks, standoffs and riots. And now the economic downside is offset by the loyal orders having to ask nicely to walk around our walls. Worth it.
3
u/ForwardTourist6079 Apr 19 '26
Yet they still bring UDA and UVF bands to Derry. What exactly does Derry get from "The Deal"? Seems very one sided.
1
u/VeryDerryMe Apr 19 '26
I worked in the city centre for the best part of 10 years when I was younger. Before any agreements. Every August and every December , listening to them spout their shite, and having to deal with the bitter Coleraine oxygen thieves. Now? Whenever Im home around august or Christmas, I listen to those bands, even the UVF ones, and all I hear is 'thank you for letting me march, Mr Irishman'. Not all benefits are tangible. The first plantation city, the first post reformation Anglican Cathedral, the walls that are a symbol of the unionist siege mentality. They belong to us now.
2
u/GoldGee Apr 19 '26
I would prefer it if it was a city for all.
1
u/VeryDerryMe Apr 19 '26
And I would have preferred not to receive abuse at 17 years of age simply for being Irish and a load of inbred arseholes felt the need to denigrate me and mine in our home town on their annual hate fest, with their repeated (to this day) expressions of support for the murderers from Bloody Sunday. So excuse me if Im not quite there yet on the live and let live scale. Respect is earned, and Unionism in Derry hasn't even acknowledged the concept, never mind tried to work towards it. So excuse us our foibles, but a lot of us aren't changing.
2
u/Fresh_Category6015 Apr 19 '26
You're walls eh.
2
u/VeryDerryMe Apr 19 '26
Aye. Ours. Seeing as unionism built a road over them in New Market Street, and bearing in mind unionisms sectarian actions during the civil rights campaign, and their glee at Bloody Sunday (and hypocritical ongoing support for known murderers), its best we look after them, as unionism definitely don't respect them. Just say thank you, and we'll say failte romhat.

u/VeryDerryMe Apr 19 '26
Oh, and if you want to debate, don't hide your post history. Way of the coward, that.
1
u/Fresh_Category6015 Apr 23 '26
Well, well, well, aren't we just the little hypocrite, telling people not to hide their post history, while all the while yours is hid lmao. Well can't expect anything else but hypocrisy can we.

Ah you must be talking about the Easter parade where a bunch of mutants walked to the cemetery. Not to mention their hangers in carrying weapons and petrol bombs lmao. Aye they were out for a peaceful parade weren't they. Pack of fucking Muppets that couldn't even keep in step FFS lmao. 10yr olds down at the local BB hall can march better than those clowns, marching down in their paramilitary uniforms with scarves covering their faces and dark sunglasses on. Is that the parade in Londonderry you're talking about.
1
u/ForwardTourist6079 Apr 23 '26
Lindsey Mooney Memorial band from "Londonderry" named after a failed loyalist bomber marched on Easter Monday in Ballymoney.
3
u/FitheachRavens Apr 18 '26
Just remind them which town they are in, and any consequences that unfold will multiple in return with interest.
Don't see any points in those parades outside armistice unless they generate economic benefit to the local...which they don't. Just huge waste of taxpayers money that we all desperately need.

What Chinese was that ?
I’m from Newry and there is no Chinese restaurant along the route
I smell BS
2
u/bkadirov Apr 19 '26
There’s a Chinese restaurant directly opposite Tesco, almost beside the police station.
3
u/thebeg Apr 19 '26
There's a Chinese on the Belfast road beside the dominos called chopsticks. Last time you traversed the Belfast road, did you do so with your eyes closed? Also the smell is probably just your breath going up your nose. Cos you're talking shite.

You said it was beside Dominos
That’s a different restaurant
😂😂😂😂😂
3
u/thebeg Apr 19 '26
The one beside dominos is still there, different name. There's a Chinese literally on the parade route, you're still wrong. It's really sad to see someone so intellectually challenged not getting the right supervision on the internet. The fact you still think you're right is proof of how stupid you are.
2
u/TreacleOther4028 Apr 19 '26
Nope I didn’t say it was anywhere, you’re getting yourself in a tizzy now and commenting to the wrong people, take some time out you wab 😂

Pwned and epic fail? I know you are but what am I? More fucking emojis?Did you travel here from 2007? I'm sure Dong Fang is lovely, you should try it after your next parade. Sad. And chopsticks is called chef wok now, 4.5 on Google, you should give it a try and stop being a time travelling edge lord who has been wrong twice so far.
