1.7 Update can we calm down for one minute?

yeah I know, another 1.7 post, horaay lets all cheers its what we needed.

but every time a reforger update drops the same cycle happens and its honestly so fucking annoying at this point.

update goes live -> people jump in instantly -> play for like 30–60 minutes -> something feels off or breaks -> full meltdown mode on reddit

and holy shit… can we chill for more than a single update before lighting everything on fire?

because a lot of the outrage in my opinion isnt even coming from people actually engaging with the update properly.

some of yall are only playing modded servers that already break core systems in weird ways because half of the shit on them is vibecoded anyways .refusing to touch experimental even though thats literally where changes get stress tested first. then acting like the game just randomly fell apart? i guess? reforger updates are not “drop and everything is perfect forever” type updates. its an evolving sandbox with engine level changes happening constantly physics, AI, networking, vehicles, mods, all interacting at once something being slightly off for a bit is kind of baked into that reality unfortunatly. But instead of letting things settle or actually testing properly, it turns into instant pitchforks and torches every. single. time. and maybe its just me but half the posts end up being the same recycled outrage for karma or validation, just louder each time meanwhile experimental exists specifically so players can catch issues early and help shape stable but it only works if people actually use it if you skip it, ignore it, or dont engage with it properly, youre not really part of the feedback loop anymore, youre just reacting after the fact

before you jump me for daring to defend the game or company. nobodys saying dont criticize the game. if something is actually broken, call it out. but maybe just MAYBE dont hit full apocalypse mode after an update drops when half the issues are either already known, context-dependent, or still getting ironed out. just play it a bit longer, test it properly, and then give feedback with actual info instead of pure reaction.

AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO IT THROUGH THE PROPER CHANNELS and not immediatly go "mmmhm bohemia sucks actually"

also can we stop repeating the “500 devs so why is this broken” thing every single damn update? that number is total studio size across multiple offices and multiple projects, not 500 people actively working on reforger fixes at the same time that includes engine work, arma 4 development, dayZ support, backend systems, tools, art, audio, publishing, management, and everything else that keeps a studio running.

anyways rant over tldr;

stop instantly going full meltdown every time a reforger update drops after barely playing it. a lot of the outrage is based on modded setups, skipped experimental testing, and early impressions rather than proper context. criticism is fine, but the “everything is broken, devs dont test, game is dead” cycle is exaggerated and mostly unhelpful. also the “500 devs” argument is misleading because thats total studio size across all roles and multiple projects, not a team exclusively working on fixing reforger.

1.7 Update 1.7 update in 3 days? Playable FIA

If it's anything like the experimental version, these should be some of the expected changes coming in 1.7 HQC

Playable FIA (hardcore faction / survival playstyle)

  • cap of 8
  • deployable tents for remote spawns
  • tents use supplies for spawns
  • 1 tent per squad
  • hidden weapon caches around map

Official player slots increased

  • 48 > 64 players

Updated driving & handling for vehicles

Recruitable AI capped to 4

Movement changes

  • side strafing slowed
  • bushes slow you down

US starts with an LAV

Commander new mission types

  • fire support mission (mortar, CAS, armor fire into the area)
  • pick up mission (pick up from area, deliver to destination alive)
  • disassemble obstructions mission (dismantle roadblocks and fortifications in area)

General Fixes

  • many performance and stability fixes

  • crashing on server restart fixed (Players can stay in server at the end of a game, and remain in the server after restart)

  • spec ops face camo fixed

Weather, wind direction monitor on map screen

Razor wire destructible by bayonets

Repair truck allows solo-flipping vehicles

Official 1PV Only (Drivers 3PV) servers

Squad Leaders can kick players from their squad

Reserves squad for unassigned players

Noticable wind effects to bullets at range

Supply Depots are destructible

One server still not full and a bunch with only one person in each server. Unless y’all want another 6 months of this game being unplayable **OPEN EXPERIMENTAL**

That being said… devs if you’re reading this. For the love of god only put one server with 128slots on experimental so you can actually stress test instead of only allowing 64…. The majority of servers in game are 128 players… you’ll inevitably run into performance issues not testing the game at those levels. Just my opinion tho

1.7 Update Prepare for the FIA

Sticking to the same US/USSR HQC playstyle will not work with the FIA in 1.7

Solo play will result in you giving your gear and vehicles to the FIA for free

  • Solo building a base? You got caught by 1 FIA, who now has your construction truck, radio, gear and will use all these things against you

  • Solo operating a heli or armored vehicle? 1 FIA will watch and follow you for an hour, waiting for the perfect time to kill you and take your vehicle

Arsenals at every base enables constant sabotage

  • Every Arsenal is a place for the FIA to upgrade their gear from a simple pistol, to everything they need

  • There should only be a few arsenals at heavily defended bases, with lots of player traffic

  • Once the arsenal is not needed, it should be disassembled

Storage Depots are destructible

  • Hoarding depots in one spot is a saboteurs dream, they should be built under camo nets, and spread throughout the base

  • Depots can no longer be used for indestructible walls

Rushing to build bases or capture points will result in you getting ambushed

  • Players can't predict safe paths to drive or walk, the FIA could be ANYWHERE

  • FIA can reposition most of the default FIA AI, and landmines around the map

  • FIA can recruit more FIA to position

  • FIA can build defences

Bases need to be isolated so they're harder to infiltrate, and easier to defend

  • Bases built besides towns, forests etc allows the FIA to walk right in, even with AI defenders

  • A base built in a clear, open field, with sandbag walls makes it harder to infiltrate, and also protects the AI defenders

  • Just need to avoid positions that have high-ground looking into the base

Abandoning vehicles at every base you attack gives the FIA free transport

  • Many people spawn a vehicle, drive to an objective, and once they capture, will build a new vehicle station and spawn another vehicle, while their original one is a walk away

  • These scattered vehicles give the FIA more options for transport, to use them as roadblocks or ambushes

The FIA punishes those who lack situational awareness, who don't work within a group, and those who rush to complete their objectives.

I'm keen to see how this new danger will change how people play, how will you as a soldier, Squad Leader or Commander change your playstyle in this new environment?

1.7 is completely busted, issues introduced in 1.6 still aren't properly resolved, FIA is good but shouldn't have been added if player cap remains as low as 48, vehicle driving physics are worse than PS1 games and you can't even look down binoculars anymore.

Whatever can't be fixed soon should be rolled back asap. It's going to be atrocious if the game remains in this state for months.

1.7 Update 1.7 changes

Few more new and requested changes that made it into 1.7 experimental.

New missions

  • Pick-up request (Pick-up squad from, and take to)
  • Fire support request (Heli rockets, LAV, mortars)
  • Clear obstacles request (Clear obstacles in the area)

Weather status on the map menu

Official player limit increased to 64 players

Playable FIA

  • Can recruit FIA patrols, not FIA garrisons
  • Note with coordinates in your inventory, FIA arsenals at each coordinate

Squad leader can kick squad members

Side strafing nerfed

Bushes slow movement

I think all these minor changes will encourage slower more tactical gameplay than what we currently have, and also giving help Squad Leaders and Commanders have an easier time managing their squads and objectives.

The battlefield will be alot more harsh with the strafe nerfs, and now needing to take care around the FIA, because we will never know where the FIA players are, or what they're up to next.

Alright soldiers it’s time! The amount of players on experimental is just pathetic.

**9 hours from time of this post** everyone needs to log on to experimental and play a match. Try to fill as many servers as possible.

When you play make sure you submit feedback.

There are still bugs, performance issues and other problems that need to be fixed. We can’t expect them to be fixed if we don’t play it.

9 HOURS FROM NOW EVERYONE PLAY EXPERIMENTAL (8pm -GMT-6)

If just 10% of the people that see these posts logs in we could fill multiple servers!!

1.7 Update How to Squad Lead in 1.7?

1.7 allows Squad Leaders to kick players from their squad, so how do we create effective squads now that we can pick and choose players?

  • Rename squad to 'Mics only', 'Teamwork' etc.
  • Set a Rally Point on a base to regroup to if KIA or falling back

Then where do we go from here? Or is there even any point.

1.7 Update Explanation on driving changes in 1.7 from Devs Q&A

The devs have said that the driving changes were necessary because the old system couldnt be upgraded and limiting them from fixing stuff like sliding vehicles on handbrake, implementing Ackermann steering geometry and more.

1.7 Update Doing my part: 1.7 Xbox

Lagging/freezing seems to be gone, though I noticed multiple instances where the graphics suddenly went to blurry shit (I imagine due to performance issues) particularly in 3rd person at high speed, but I noticed it when doing absolutely nothing also. Played in performance setting the entire time, so it may have been something new to do with that.

Inertia in movement is nice, bushes also slow you down considerably which I don’t think was as evident in previous build.

Everybody is playing FIA, both servers I joined that had decent population had a 6v15v6 split where the majority of players were FIA. Felt like we were actually fighting to take control of their island, never even saw a US soldier.

Some FIA players I encountered leaned heavily into the gorilla warfare side of things, which was cool. Testing the bases defenses and getting the ai to waste all their ammo as they pop a couple shots and scoot, then I hop in a truck and see one emerge from a bush with an rpg pointing at me as I try to start the engine lol.

Bugs:

AI drops 10’ out of the sky when spawned at a base, immediately injuring their legs a bit.

Inventory uniform is bloody when actual uniform is not. Fresh spawn and open inventory, uniform is bloody every single time, actual player model in-game uniform is clean.

That’s all I got, wish the servers were more populated on experimental.

1.7 Update Just bought the game? Mods not working? Can’t find your favorite server? Do I have the solution for you!?!?

My guys. All mods are broken. All modded servers are broken.

This is what happens after a major update. Expect it to take a week or two for popular servers to go back to “normal”

Even then some of your most loved mods will be gone for good. Don’t worry, give it time and someone els will make a replacement.

In the meantime, JUST PLAY VANILLA. That’s what your options are right now.

PS. All console players should go ahead and wipe their mods to make sure it’s effortless downloading stuff when servers update( updating mods on consoles will give you an aneurysm)
