My first thought is "use three times and donate it on turn 3"

My second thought it that it needs shroud to stop hex parasite

Sigh, my lack of knowledge of Mtg cards is causing problems once more, I didn't know that was a thing, I guess It would need shroud like you said. And I was so proud of this card too, damnit...

Oh no, not the card having some synergy with other cards that makes it more interesting when ran in specific decks!

While you make a good point that this does give it more interesting synergy, I think the *predatory* part of the “Predatory Loan” implies that from a flavor standpoint they want to create a situation of it being damn near impossible to get out of this loan you’ve taken out. Which I think is interesting flavorfully!

Maybe he could have it give you an emblem with the same effect as the counters? I don’t think there are any non-planeswalker emblems existing, but I can’t think of any rules reason you couldn’t have an artifact make one.

[[The Capitoline Triad]] and [[Sephiroth, Fabled SOLDIER]] both do and are creatures. Personally, I think the card is perfect as is.

I agree, honestly. My suggestion was only in regards to the fact that OOP wants there to be no real way out of the debt.

Emblems are sort of a last resort - or should be, because they are a pain to track since usually people don't have the specific emblems and just use tokens or whatever for it.

That's just not feasible in-game sadly. There are just too many cards and interactions.

You could just make it give you emblems with ‚upkeep pay 1 or lose‘ and ‚(3): Remove this emblem‘

V2 - 0: add 3. You get an emblem with upkeep, pay 1 or lose.
This prevents a lot of problems and hard locks. For instance, if this becomes a creature, the game ends in a draw.

How is it a draw if this becomes a creature? I'm not seeing the interaction, though I might be overlooking something obvious (my brain is currently deep fried).

If the OP card becomes a creature, then I believe the last sentence of the card makes it dying (edit: specifically from damage or having 0 toughness) into an endless loop.

Ah, yeah, that makes sense.

Thank you for picking up where I stopped short. I should have been more specific.

Happy to help.

Keep that pride, this is a great design. It might need tweaking but the space is fresh.

A lovely way to use it, but honestly. Ain't it just a turn 1 win for storm?

So its either to big to fail, or a corporate buy out for a win. Very nice.

So it needs shroud

Donate it after the 4th use

Damnit, I knew I was missing something! Probably should add a clause where you cannot donate it. Thanks for the feedback!

Also

"When you lose the game, your next-of-kin gains control of Predatory Loan."

u/Wild_Harvest Growth for Progress 8d ago

"If a player other than the owner of Predatory Loan would gain control of Predatory Loan, out an Interest Counter on Predatory Loan instead."

I think it's more fun to donate it. Gives it some extra play other than being a 0 mana +3 Rock.
