Fit Check Are big boobs a problem??

I have three different carriers I have tried with my baby. When he was much younger I tried the soft rap but it felt like it was squishing him and it made me really nervous that I wasn’t wearing it right. I watched videos, asked friends etc. and it just never felt comfortable. It might now that he is older. I have two structured carriers that he can last in for about 10 minutes before the screaming ensues and he’s scraping his face back-and-forth across my chest, of course facing my body. The momcozy, and the Infantino. All gifts, I can’t afford these crazy expensive carriers. I wish. Anyway, I’ll attach a picture but when he’s in this carrier it’s like he’s trying to push away from me and can’t relax down, then when he does his face is against my chest and he doesn’t like to turn it to either side. I have rather large boobs and I’m wondering if it’s just super uncomfortable for him to be squished against my body like that. I’ve tried adjusting it every possible way. In the Infantino (grey with turquoise), it just feels like his head is totally unsupported and he won’t rest it against my chest. Pretty much the same thing with the mom cozy (navy blue with constellations) not to mention it’s the most god-awful thing to try to get on anyway. Out of the two I think I like the Infantino better and I think so does he. HELP

As a fellow member of the Bazongas club, wearing a bra helps me get a good fit or else my Bazongas get in the way. The Infantino here isn’t supporting his legs well in the M shape, he is dangling. The Momcozy one looks a bit better. Is there a way to fold the fabric down at his neck? The top of the panel should not cover his head, his airway isn’t visible. It should be at the nape of the neck.

Yes! Folded down now! I think the Infantino one has, like the newborn setting for the legs and then an older baby setting. Maybe in the older baby one.

u/Apploozabean Dec 08 '25

This looks like a way better fit!

u/face_is_vicious Dec 08 '25

Good deal! I almost feel like the mom cozy one is still a little bit big for him. But not for long! Now it’s just getting him used to being in a carrier! I will be very happy when the screaming stops lol

Awesome- the fit looks much better now! Is he more comfy? One more thing would be to do a little pelvic tuck so his butt is deeper in the carrier. Unrelated to the fit, but when mine was that age, timing was important. He was happiest in the carrier if he had just eaten or if he was getting sleepy.

also the Infantino’s buttons are for world facing vs facing you- unfortunately it is not adjustable and I would ditch it honestly

u/face_is_vicious Dec 08 '25

Dang…. Well. Does the momcozy look like the right size? Someone said it may still be too big

12

u/gringafalsa Dec 08 '25

Now that you adjusted the fit, I can tell that it does fit. The way you had it before made it seem like he didn’t fit! His airway is clear and he’s supported knee to knee. I’m not an expert! but it looks good to me!

u/face_is_vicious Dec 08 '25

Awesome! Thank you so much!

Wait what do you have to do for the older baby setting? I have the same one for my 12 month old and I usually have to hold her legs up myself. I cant find the instruction manual for it either

3

u/face_is_vicious Dec 08 '25

There are button snaps down on the strap that goes around your waist

4

u/face_is_vicious Dec 08 '25

Oh, you might’ve been asking about the Infantino one. Were you? If so after this baby is done feeding I’ll get up to get it and show you

2

u/Sad_Difficulty_7853 Dec 08 '25

Yes the infantino, her legs just end up sticking down and I have to hold them in the M shape myself

3

u/face_is_vicious Dec 08 '25

So you unsnap the pieces from the front and put that little toggle through the button hole. Hard to explain without a video. Also, cannot get up, baby cluster feeding lol

2

u/Sad_Difficulty_7853 Dec 08 '25

Ohhhh! I just discovered those toggle things today, thank you! Will try it out the next time I use it 🙏 also, praying your baby will be done soon lmao 😂

u/face_is_vicious Dec 08 '25

Thanks!! 🙄😂

I found my 50% baby grew out of the infantino around 7 months, even with the flaps folded out. I couldn’t get the seat to go knee pit to knee pit. 12 months may be too big, even with everything folded out correctly

1

u/Sad_Difficulty_7853 Dec 10 '25

Yeah honestly, shes 98th for height and 80something for weight, i recently bought the infantino because she grew out of the nuby one I had previously almost immediately and hadn't bothered to get another one because she didnt like it, but since ive gone back to work, shes become a bit of a limpet and my arms cant take it anymore lmao I think im gonna look into a sling ring anyway

2

u/banerises19 Dec 08 '25

I have the infantino one and struggled with the M shape till I figured it out! The bottom part is folded for a tighter fit for newborns. U need to undo that, and then there's a button to fasten it sideways. That will give u the m shape! It was driving me crazy till I figured it out

2

u/face_is_vicious Dec 08 '25

Yeah that little toggle. You would think they would make the fastener the same and less of a mystery lol

IMO this still isn't fitting quite right, the seat looks too wide and you'll want to boost them up and tighten the straps to get baby off the waistband. Right now it looks like their legs are being pinched.

Here's a babywearing educator setting up this carrier, I would copy what she's doing except you can possibly wear your waistband a little lower (she's using a pretty small doll here). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANFcoF7CBtA

That lady is great! I like that a lot. That will help for sure!

15

u/padmeg Dec 08 '25

The momcozy looks like it might still be a bit too big for baby.

The infantino is not a great carrier, but you can make it so baby is dangling by their crotch a bit less if you button the flaps at the bottom in the wide position. I would also snap the fabric at the top down so baby has more airflow. Then, try doing a pelvic tuck. Scoop your hands down his lower back and under the bum, lifting the knees up a bit. This should help curve his back.

5

u/face_is_vicious Dec 08 '25

That’s kind of how I’ve been feeling. Also, I feel like he just needs to learn how to get used to being in a carrier also. Maybe that’s what all the screaming is about!

u/Hour-Temperature5356 Dec 08 '25

I was given that exact Infantino carrier second hand and has the exact same issue, it just doesn't support the hips.

9

u/face_is_vicious Dec 08 '25

I did put it in the wide setting and it’s better. I’m just afraid it’s crunching his little thighs

4

u/ShadowlessKat Dec 09 '25

His thighs are fine. I still use this carrier sometimes with my 12 month old who has chunky thighs, they're fine.

4

u/ProfVonMurderfloof Dec 08 '25

This looks way better, just need to flip down the "headrest" so there's no cloth above the bottoms of his earlobes.

My boobs are big too and I have to put baby higher up than other moms I see.

First I need to wear a bra or else the fit is a catastrophe- but I also have to wear baby high enough that his cheek rests on my clavicle almost - rather than his face being near my boobs.

I also had to turn baby’s face often at first so that he wouldn’t suffocate himself. It took a few tries and took me buying 3 carriers to find the best one tha worked for us.

From 0-4 months we used the Ergo Baby Embrace 4+ months we have been using the Mom Cozy

He’s 8 months old now and still happy to go in

2

u/face_is_vicious Dec 08 '25

I’ve been playing with it and same, his head is up on my collarbone! People seem to not be big fans of the Infantino one. I’ll use the momcozy but it seems a tad big maybe?? I’m sure that won’t be for long, he’s 12# and 24”! Yes, he does try to suffocate himself and gets VERY mad when I try to rescue him 😂

2

u/darthtt Dec 15 '25

My baby tries to suffocate herself as well and is furious when I stop her 🤣

Also a member of the big boobies club and checking this thread for tips!

Do you have issues with the straps creeping up your neck? I can't tell if it's an issue of where the side straps are laying in relation to my girls.

7

u/PainfulPoo411 Dec 08 '25

I haven’t read every comment so this may have been covered already but you have some neck creep. Try positioning the shoulder straps on your shoulders (away from your neck). For x-back carriers, pull DOWN your back before buckling

1

u/face_is_vicious Dec 08 '25

It has not been addressed, thank you! Yeah I really hate the X straps honestly

1

u/DillyB04 Dec 09 '25

So I do this when I put it on, but they always creep back up. Any tips?

1

u/PainfulPoo411 Dec 09 '25

When you pull the strap DOWN your back, you want to pull it tight. Once you clip it, you should only need minor tightness adjustments

1

u/DillyB04 Dec 09 '25

I do that and it feels good, then starts to slide to the point that I need to unclip and readjust around the 30 min mark. I just learned recently what a big difference it makes to get the slack out of the seat, so that's definitely helping. Now I'm wondering if part of the issue is where the side clips are laying. Should they go under the boobs or across them?

3

u/PainfulPoo411 Dec 09 '25

Lift UP on baby’s butt then adjust the straps to remove the slack.

The answer to your question will depend on the carrier and your body - post a fit check!

1

u/DillyB04 Dec 09 '25

Thanks - will do!

If you look up Jace the wrapper on Instagram she has good big boob tips.

u/warm-grass-in-summer Dec 08 '25

You got great tips comcerning the fit of both carriers. As for baby hating the carrier, it’s a phase. Being worn counts as tummy time and that’s annoying for baby, especially when they don’t have a lot of muscles yet. He is training his neck! For my baby what usually helped was putting her in the carrier and instantly going outside. She calmed down immediately. Also singing, bouncing, swaying?

2

u/face_is_vicious Dec 08 '25

Awesome! I sure would be cool to get one of those really nice carriers but I think we can make these work! I think the mom cozy is still a little big for him. But now that I’ve adjusted the Infantino one I think it’ll work fine for a while.

5

u/eunuch-horn-dust Dec 08 '25

I’ve worn my son since he was a few weeks old, he’s 3 now, we still use the carrier and I’m an H/HH cup. I found in the early days they were a benefit and helped to create a comfortable c-shape in baby’s back. I always had my waist band directly under my bust and only started lowering it in the last year because he’s so tall now and we don’t back carry. The bulk of his body has always been curved around my bust while carrying.

3

u/face_is_vicious Dec 08 '25

Throughout the day I’ve definitely discovered that that is the better way to carry for me as well. And it is helpful.

Nine weeks and just hit 12 pounds

2

u/Bear_is_a_bear1 Dec 08 '25

The Infantino could use some adjusting. You have it on “newborn” setting but he’s already grown out of that and needs it on the regular setting. To do this you’ll unbutton the green button on his crotch and snap it to the waistband I believe

2

u/face_is_vicious Dec 08 '25

He just absolutely hates being in the carrier. I really wish he didn’t.

2

u/Prestigious_Ear_7374 Dec 08 '25

my baby invariably puts his hands next to his face, in the inside, to pull my hair, or accessory. otherwise he hates it. but he also doess this in a 2nd hand ergobaby, so I think it's a spec at the time being. 🫠

2

u/Bear_is_a_bear1 Dec 08 '25

That fit looks so much better though!!! You could try taking him on a walk outside (if you can, it’s freezing where I am lol). If not, maybe just wait until he’s a bit bigger.

Especially if he’s nursing, it’s so confusing for them and they often end up rooting when first placed in the carrier. If he takes a pacifier that could help too.

2

u/face_is_vicious Dec 08 '25

The pacifier definitely helps until he scrapes his face back and forth and pops it out! Lol I’m in the Midwest so not super enjoyable to go out but we will. He has cute puffy suits to wear 😂

2

u/mynamecanbewhatever Dec 08 '25

As a fellow member of giant pumpkin boobs yes- they are the problem. Tried 7-8 different carriers nothing works for me. My husband will wear baby I will walk beside them I give up.

3

u/face_is_vicious Dec 08 '25

I totally get that lol but I think I figured it out. I just need to have the waistband up higher and have babies head basically on my collarbone so that his tummy is kind of curled over my boobs. Maybe that will help?

2

u/mynamecanbewhatever Dec 09 '25

Yeah we do that as well but my boobs still get pushed to the side and it looks like I have wing boobs 🫨

2

u/DarkDNALady Dec 09 '25

This is what ended up happening with me too! Giant gals and no carrier fits quite right. To top it off my baby girl is 5 percentile. So her tiny self was completely squished again my giant knockers! Ultimately just gave up baby wearing and ended up getting better at functioning with one hand only 🤣

3

u/mynamecanbewhatever Dec 09 '25

This. I have become a pro at single hand tasks. I can do anything with one hand except cutting veggies

2

u/Ubii_ Dec 09 '25

Also, once I figured out how to place my baby on me with big boobs, I would do it 10-15 minutes at a time doing little chores around the house until she would want to get out,

I kept doing it (also trying different carriers) she eventually decided she did like being In it and can hang out for awhile

She likes the wrap the most so far but still like to hang out in our Mabe carrier

2

u/face_is_vicious Dec 09 '25

It’s going to be so nice when he starts to like it longer! He napped in it for about 30 minutes today. Got some chores done!

2

u/Ubii_ Dec 13 '25

Yay it’s a start !🙌🏼

2

u/ShadowlessKat Dec 09 '25

I have the infantino. Ignore the newborn setting. Open up the little triangle flaps. There is a rod shaped bead on a loop, put it through the hole on the triangle flap to hold it open. Then you can do a pelvic tuck together your baby in a more supported and comfortable M shape seat.

The infantino gets a bad rap on this sub, but it isn't terrible. It's not the best carrier but it's functional.
