Never had White Castle, they don’t exist in my state. They seem like a “hate it or you love it” type chain though.

I never had a genuine White Castle burger growing up for the same reason. In college though I would buy the grocery store freezer section White Castle burgers and enjoyed them. They really nailed that "tasty garbage" quality.

Being from the west I had only known those freezer burgers, and loved them. When I moved to Baltimore, I calculated the closest White Castle on my way to my destination so I could finally try them. I landed in Newark NJ and was genuinely scared for my life just how sketched out everyone was in the immediate area. Turns out, White Castles are primarily in bad areas, kinda like the iconic Little Caesar's + Payday Loans + Liquor store trio.

Little Caesar's + Payday Loans + Liquor store trio

So you're from LA too it sounds like?

Not even close! It's just U.S. thing

Oh interesting. LA is the only city I have lived in that has that.

I’ve seen it all over CA, and AZ.

My town, Albuquerque NM has the Little Caesars/ budget wireless store (i.e. cricket or boost)/ and cannabis shop trio everywhere 😂

Interesting in LA it’s usually liquor store or smoke shop but not dispensary in those shady little combos they’re referring to. Dispensaries are actually really nice here.

We've got both nice ones and shady ones. And now that I think of it, there's almost always a smoke shop near a little Caesars too lol

Yea I remember the dispensaries in LA being nice. The Medmen off Manchester and Sepulveda in Inglewood looked like an Apple Store.

Naw if he was from LA he would be comparing White Castle to Churches Chicken. If you see one, you know you’re in the hood

Having lived in Maryland most of my life, I really haven't seen a lot of White castles until I moved to the Midwest. From what I can tell, they are in one of two locations: immediately off the highway next to the cracker barrel (because sometimes when you're driving long distances in the middle of the night you need something easy to eat and awful for you) or in the sketchiest neighborhood possible. There used to be one I think on the edge of Corktown in Detroit that had no other non-blighted buildings a couple blocks in every direction

I still keep a box in my house-

They arent great, but they arent terrible. Good to have in a pinch for sure

Handling them out of the microwave was like handling lava. And somehow the center meat paste was always still frozen.

The frozen ones are completely different, you'd like the store ones a lot more.

Yet they’re still so good

Yup, the frozen ones come nowhere close to the ones you get at the restaurant.

I've had both. For whatever reason, the frozen ones are better. Seems like they have more flavor.

Might be the store I went too but they tasted about the same.

Same. Only ate at a restaurant once, but it tasted like it was fresh out of my microwave.

Contrary to everyone else, the frozen ones taste about 75% similar to me. The ones in the restaurant taste a lot fresher (like actual fast food) but they feel close.

I think you have to be extremely high to enjoy them

I had frozen ones while living in Cali. Finally had it fresh when I moved out to the Midwest.

The fresh ones tasted very similar to the frozen ones, but it had pickles.

Get drunk, nuke some frozen sliders, add a slice of pickle. Your experience will be 90% close to getting it from the restaurant.

The fresh ones taste a little beefier and the bread is a little fluffier.

I lost my virginity after getting high with a girl and devouring two boxes of those with her. When she got to the 5th burger I was just like, "ain't no way she's going to be in the mood tonight." Guess I was wrong, that shit turned her on.
