Comics Kamala Khan and the neverending quest to be mentored by every morally dubious blonde woman.
She now has one from all 3 Marvel offices.

I never realized her being president in the future was mentioned in the original run (issue 34)!

Admittedly it was mostly Iso who saw her as dangerous, and that was because she associated with Daisy.

I wanna go out and say. I love Marvels main Muslim representation. Coincidently theyre all women and 3 out of 4 of then are Mutants. Im a massive X-Men fan too. Doea Marvel need some headlining Muslim men? Yes but thats not what this post is about (and yes I am aware of Gendered Racism but thats a discussion for a different post)
But why do I love Marvels representation of Muslims through these 4 women? Coz they are actually very different to each other and thats how minoritiy representation should be. Multiple people sharing a religion or cultural background are going to be different people for one reason or the other and thats what should be represented more in fiction. Also from fiest ti last theres a sliding scale of how religious these women are and I like therea some variety here.
First of all we have Monet St Croix a Bosnian born Mutant to a French Algerian mother and a Monasque Father (likely with heritage from a former French West African country judging by his white French named Father). Monet St Croix represents the liberal or non-practising religious people. Now if she was the sole representative of Muslims/Islam itd be a issue since she doesnt do anything remotely that a Muslim would do and she only identifies as a Muslim simply because her Mother is Muslim. This may not sound good but Monet is feircely defensive of Muslims when she finally comes out with it so theres definitely something to explore there and I have met a rare few Muslims that only really identify based on their family being Muslim but not much themselves. She may not be the best to start with especially as most Muslims are usually very conservative irl. But this leads me to
Our second character Kamala Khan. While I rolled my eyes about her, the same way I did Milea due to them being ethnic sidekicks/successor characters by concept. By character and storylines. I love both of them. Kamala Khan (MCU moreso than comics) is definitely ine of the most relatable to me. She is a Pakistani American Muslim girl tho she believes strongly in the religion to the point that theology from the religion inspires her to be a hero and during intense moment she would use religious phrases (like Bismillah in The Marvels). She may not be outwardly practising as she doesnt wear Hijab but she still prefer to dress modestly and Ive met many muslim women in cosplay (some hijabi some none hijabi) that also worry about how they dress and I do love that this was acknowlwdged in the MCU show. She does unfortunately fall into Nerd tropes that are oversone with South Asians but she is more a creative nerd with her cosplays, art, fanfics, etc which is different to the steroetype of maths/science nerd.
Next up is Dr.Faiza Hussain the only non mutant and one of the few British Asian characters in Marvel. She is British Pakistani and is essentially a more grown up Kamala Khan before Kamala Khan was made. She is a hijabi so naturally dresses moedstly like Kamala but also has the Hijab headacarf. She is nerdy (well she is a Doctor) but mostly nerdy about Superheroes but unlike Kamala she is sporty/athletic being cricket fan (which is stereotypical but accurate imo). But yeah she is definitely a bit stricter than Kamala and less nerdy which I think is a generally accurate way to interpret the differences between South Asian Americans and British South Asians. She isnt as childish as Kamala but again she is an adult. Much like Kamala she doesnt date around as much thi she had a romance with the Black Knight. I definitely felt like it should have explored the general opinion that Muslim women dont tend to have courtship/romances with non-Muslim men (and Ive seen Muslim women critise this being done over and over again most notably with the Spanish netflix show Elite... Ive never seen)
But this leads me to Sooraya Qadir aka Dust. She is an Afghan mutant presumably of Pashtun ethnicity and despite moving to the Xavier Mansion in the US from Taliban ruled Afghanistan. She prefers to stay wearing the Niqab (the veil) over her face. Showing the opposite end of the scale to Monet. She is deeply religious to the point of being shown to pray and fearinf demons/Jinns which itself is pretty accurate. I love her dynamic with Laura Kinney/Talon because its definitely similar to Nightcrawler and Wolverines friendship. One the point of romance she almost considers one with Jay Guthrie when he considers to revert to Islam to be with her (which is usually expected for Muslim Women) for whatever reason it didnt go anywhere but I definitely think if thats a storyline to cover with Sooraya. Whilst the X-Men has never had a Male Mutant in their ranks. It could have been interesting to introduce some who Sooraya could have talked to and shown how different Muslim Men could be to each other or even have Sooraya bond with Kamala and Monet over their shared religious background (hell give the 3 of them a Ramadan or Eid storyline together)
Anywaus my point is I like how different these 4 women are despite all being Muslims and I feel their differences could be something to explore as to why they interpret or choose to practice differently.
After all theres plenty of Chrisitan and Jewish characters in Marvel that have very huge personality differences and different storylines. So the same can be said for these women and Id love to see some Muslim writers do even more with them but keeping their different personalities intact. Hopefully down the line we can also get more Muslim Male characters leading their own stories and cross over (and yes Id like to see a sliding scale of how religious these charactera can be too)

I would pick Karnak due to his ability to detect weak points and being part of the Inhuman Royal Family (especially being close to Medusa who I hope appears with Kamala more).

Sorry it that’s been talked about before, but I’m writing a fanfic where she’s featured, and I need to figure out how old she is for story reasons. I’m leaning towards 18 going on 19, but I’m not sure

While reading another X-Men Monday hoping for more Ms. Marvel questions to be answered, they had a really small fun crumb of Kamala from inglorious X-Force holding on while riding Ghost Wolverine(?)’s motor cycle.
Am I wrong jn assuming that as long as she’s in thjs comic, she won’t be showing up in anything else or getting anything new? ^^;

Like, does she know stuff like omegaverse and the "there is only one bed" stuff? (Also, I checked and apparently i was the only one to ask this which is surprising honestly since you would think it would be a obvious question)

I always like the idea of Kamala coming clean to her parents on her super heroics and her abilities. At least that way she can be honest with them and they in turn can slowly be proud of her.
Nothing is more powerful than family and her family is a good one.
So imagine my disappointment when they let that get wiped away clean instead of letting it continue forward. I mean imagine what would happen if they were involved with Karkoa or how they would feel about Kamala’s evolution powers ?
We could find out which side of her family is a mutant and/or inhuman. Honestly, so many missed opportunities. When have we ever seen a human parent of a superhero talk down the X-men or avengers about Kamala and her heroics ?
Does anyone else see the potential of it all or not ?

When we finally got Kamala to meet Kitty Pryde what was a momentous occasion felt bittersweet when you look at it and makes you almost feel sorry for them and the weird thing is that as a reader you do not which character to feel sorry for the most…
Especially when you consider the similarities between the two characters in a way.
Does anyone else feel that way too when they first met when Kamala joined the X-men during the Orchis era of the fall of Karkoa?
