Comics Would Kamala be able to the mass and shape of other objects since she’s able to alter normal clothes?

Unless she's tossing her clothes into a temporary extradimensional hamper while she transforms, it looks like she changes them along with her body. iirc her costume had to get treated with something that Bruno made to be easier to change size with, but she was shrinking and growing in her normal clothes before that. The bangle as well, which he also worked on, meaning that some amount of metal can be shifted too. From there it's just splitting hairs on what can be shrunk/grown along with her until some arbitrary limit is hit.

If I were trying to balance that then I'd say that more rigid materials are harder to work with, but a giant Iron Man suit would be neat. Maybe if it was nanite-based built specifically for her.

Yeah, It would make sense that the more rigid or dense it is the more hard it would be for her to modify.

I’ve been planning out my own fanmade Marvel universe, and I’ve been thinking about expanding on Kamala’s OG powers. I been thinking about whether or not she could alter the mass or appearance of other objects as well, since she’s able to alter her normal clothes when shapeshifting. Before you all bring it up, I know that there was that explanation (that I’m not a fan of) of the whole timey-wimey aspect of her gaining or dispelling extra mass, but I mostly view that as one side of her powers, specifically how she gets or loses the extra mass, and that doesn’t really explain how she can fully transform into Mary Jane or a mannequin. What do all of you think?

I think people focus too much on the Time aspect. Time is a part of Space. I figure that she's a reserve of Mass/Energy and the reserve either is each version of her or it exists in its own pocket and each Kamala pulls from it.

Though, largely, saying that is just a roundabout way of agreeing. I think you're asking the right questions and headed in what I consider to be the right direction, because I've also had a lot of time to think about the inconsistencies.

It also means her mutant/MCU power isn't a detailment, and is relevant to her Inhuman power. It's all about energy/mass, just taking different forms.

I’m glad to know I’m not the only one to think more about it. I also like your idea of a respective reserve that she can pull from, or her being the reserve. I mainly want to find more applications for here inhuman powers to differentiate her a bit more from characters like Reed Richards, plus I remember seeing this post that has a similar idea as me with the altering other objects thing. I really think that there’s a lot of potential with her inhuman powers that Marvel hasn’t really given as much time to flesh out.

I also didn’t think about that connection between her inhuman and mutant powers like that, in fact I’ve been debating whether or not to even make my version of Kamala Khan a hybrid, so thanks for giving something more to think about in that regard.

Another thing, sorry of this response is pretty late, I don’t go Reddit as often nowadays.

I wished Kamalas mutant powers was her embiggening or shrinking molecules, with the downside she can't do it to people only objects.

Can I steal this idea from you?

They take artistic liberty with the clothes, making a purposeful choice to avoid a lot of the wardrobe malfunctions that would otherwise accompany this sort of power set.

But I don't think that's supposed to be interpreted as a literal part of her power set.

That being said, stuff gets re-interpreted every time the creative team changes, pretty much. At some point the folks at DC decide all the lightning effects that surround The Flash aren't just a visual representation of speed, but actual lightning he's producing that can damage surrounding people and objects. It would not be crazy for a future creator to go that angle.

That’s a good point as well, although I do personally hope that someone decides to expand upon the idea of it being a part of her powers.

She also became a couch at some point if I am remembering correctly so what I think what you're saying is true, but I think it takes more energy to do this and messes up her healing abilities so she doesn't do it as much. It fits in with the theme that she can only truly heal in her natural state.

Yeah, I remember her transforming into a couch as well. I wish that I also included that image as an example as well in my post. But yeah, it would make sense that using her powers in that way would be more draining.
