Local work today?
Bills are due and after getting fired about a month and a half ago I’ve been eating through all my cash and selling off my belongings just to afford the basic necessities. I’ve got a job interview for later today but even if it works out well the potential paycheck can’t arrive soon enough. Does anyone have any local work available or know a site I can use to find day work around Gilbert? I’ve tried googling but all that comes up are sites that sound like scams that claim they’ll pay me to play games, sounds super suspect and I’d rather just get my hands dirty and have cash in hand come sundown

Preschool / pre-k
Hi all, is there a good pre-k that you recommend that’s in the South Gilbert area? I have a couple years before enrolling my daughter but I’m curious about costs, schedule and all of that. I would be interested in a pre-k that is part time, only 2-3 days out of the week.
Also searching South Gilbert / Queen creek area as we live out in San tan valley and my parents (babysitter) lives in Gilbert so I want to find somewhere in between.

Part time summer work
Hi neighbors! I am a teacher on summer break. I’m currently working a Summer Camp in a place that is, well, geared toward kids. It’s loud and chaotic. I need to decompress from the school year and this is not the way! 🙃
I’ve been looking on indeed, but not having any luck finding anything that would be more quiet and not working with kids!
Would you please let me know if you know of any place that would be hiring about 15 to 20 hours a week? Ideally, it would be in an office setting doing filing, organizing, or anything related.
Thank you!!

Choosing grass - midiron or tifway ?
Does anybody have anecdotal experience on installing, maintaining and enjoying either mid iron sod or Tifway sod? I am tempted by Tifway because it seems softer and enjoyable to walk on/lay on when compared to midiron. But I am worried the maintenance requirements will mitigate that effect if not kept up with.
Any input is appreciated!

Older couple approached my wife and I in the store saying “God was speaking to them about us and had a feeling to come to over to us”
Is this common down here?
We were cordial but eventually shut the conversation down.
We have never had this happen to us anywhere else but we just moved to Gilbert 2 months ago.
Were they going to try and convert us to a church?
Edit: this was at the AJs at Val Vista and baseline

New Target at Higley and Ocotillo
I didn't see anyone here talking about the new Target. Here's an article that was posted on nextdoor so everyone here that's not on there is up to date on that:
They did end up approving it.

RV Storage
Good morning! My wife and I are picking up a 30 foot RV in Indiana and bringing it back to AZ in early July. Looking for a reasonable place to store it. If any of you can recommend a place or if any of you have space on your property and want to make some passive income, let me know. Thanks!

Motorcycle Mechanic and Tire Shop in the Gilbert, Chandler, Queen Creek Area?
I'm looking for an honest, trustworthy, reliable and affordable motorcycle mechanic in the southeast valley area. I need some new tires to start with. I prefer to give my business to smaller independent type shops than big chains but I'm open to that if that's all that's available. I'd appreciate any suggestions.

$25 Gift Card For Your Help!
Hey everyone!
I’m currently working on a UX/UI website design project for my mom, who is a real estate agent, and I’m looking to speak with 3–5 people who have either:
- purchased a home within the last 12 months, or
- are first-time home buyers currently in the process of searching for a home.
I’d love to learn more about your experience:
- working with a real estate agent,
- finding and choosing an agent
- what you look for on an agent’s website
- and what helps you feel comfortable reaching out to someone.
These interviews are purely for UX research purposes so I can better understand people’s experiences, expectations, and needs throughout the home-buying process.
Preferred criteria:
- Bought a home within the last 12 months OR currently a first-time buyer in the market
- Lives in Gilbert or the surrounding East Valley area
I’m offering a $25 gift card of your choice in exchange for a 45 minute Zoom interview. 😊
If you’re interested — or know someone who may be interested — please send me a message or leave a comment!
Thanks!

Anyone have a recommendation for roof replacement? Have bids from Canyon State and AZ Shingle Pros. Numbers are almost identical but no clue as to which way to go. Thanks…

Would Gilbert be a good place to go if you’re over 50 and single?
Hello! Asking for my mom.
She’s recently divorced and all of her kids are about to move out. She’s unhappy with where her life is: no friends, no boyfriend, and unable to retire because of where the divorced left her financially. She’s an RN.
We are trying to figure out the next move for her. She’s white, fairly conservative, likes Mormons (isn’t one, but is Christian), and wanting to retire ASAP!
She likes to go to Scottsdale and stuff, but needs the living accommodations to be as fair as possible. Would prefer a house over a condo, one with a pool. Right now we are located in the west valley past the 101, so it would be a shorter distance to Scottsdale from where she’s currently driving.
I’d love for her to go to a living community, but she’s only 53 and has two more years to go for that. So, maybe renting is the best idea?
Open to any and all suggestions!! Thanks!

Is there a “good” McDonalds down here? The one at Val Vista and Guadalupe is horrible
By good I mean relatively competent staff, generally fresh food, obviously it’s still going to be a McDonald’s, I just hate going to this one by me

This man is helping dozens of children with free orthodontic care. He opened a private practice, not a chain or group bought out by private equity. He deserves our support.
