Working Mom Success Handed In resignation

You can read prior posts to see I had stepped up after my team of 4 was reduced to just me.

It’s been 2 weeks and I’ve seen all I needed to see. They continued piling work on me, not listening, and offered exactly $0 in compensation increase.

I gave my notice. The workload was unrealistic. They acted shocked and when I started going through the transition list with them they are now going to hire 3 people to replace me. A critical project has been placed on hold.

I’ve decided to (temporarily) step away from the work force until my kids are in school. Goodbye working moms, you were a great community and helped me through some tough years.

I’ve flaired it as a success because ultimately I stood up for myself and stuck to my boundaries.

I am terrified, I’ve always worked so taking a step back is scary. My boss and boss boss are panicking over the workload and there’s no replacement for me. It was incredibly validating to hear they’re going to have to hire 3 people to replace me.

My husband is INCREDIBLY supportive and I have a clear plan to reenter the work force. Just huge life change.

Oh yeah absolutely it’s a huge shift. But it’ll be so worth it; your nervous system, your mental and physical health, and most importantly, your kids are going to benefit greatly from this change.

Good luck to them to hire and train those 3 people. It will take months at least

Yes that’s the part that I don’t get, they’re also losing a ton of knowledge that’s just in my head. I offered every option I could think of including part time, just doing my old job with zero responsibility increases and the boss boss totally ignored it.

They asked me to stay on a month for knowledgeable transfer and my new boss who I’m training has been arguing with me. He’s been insinuating the team was mismanaged and things weren’t communicated which I know is untrue.

I’ve quit trying to argue with him and just said I’ll answer the questions he asks and that’s it. A different coworker did try to retain me and immediately offered $30k more so that was nice. I was good at my job.
