While I agree that the development is encroaching on a wonderful natural area. The development is several kilometres away from the Robberg Nature reserve. The petition shows disingenuous photos of the Nature Reserve being developed. There are larger developments that are already built and that are much closer.

Thanks for posting this! I can't stand this kind of shit. I already thought the "BEFORE" and "AFTER" thing was a bit sus and over the top- literally the most extreme worst case scenario ever put front and center to evoke emotion via (highly likely) false representation.

I was literally about to click the "Lodge Objection" button but after coming back here and seeing this I have decided not to sign it. As you mention, its surrounded by development already and not nearly as bad as this campaign is making it out to be.

The most egregious thing is the complete misrepresentation of the facts by whoever is running this campaign. If it was transparent from the start I would likely have still signed it but I can't stand this kind of manipulation and makes me wonder who's really the bad guy in this situation- so I will reserve my opinion on the matter for the time being.

Not to dox myself but please sign! Literally anything helps The Garden Route is being taken over by property developments, Joburg owned Restaurants and Boutique Hotels. It's disturbing and there is not enough infrastructure or resources for another couples of thousands of people to move to Plett.

I disagree. I hiked Robberg a couple of weeks ago. That site that is earmarked sits next to a quarry. Yes, an open mine. This is just bullshit. I don't want developments on World heritage sites or designated nature reserves - but this is just nonsense.

166 houses. That is less than the new shacks being built in Kwanakotula every month.

And if somebody wants to develop an area next to a quarry - please have a go at it.

This is probably being driven by somebody that has a finger in another pie and want to stop private enterprise.

Irrespective of how far away it is, it impacts the nature reserve by cutting it off from surroundings. Viewing nature reserves as isolated, self sustaining islands is really short sighted. The remaining undeveloped areas around nature reserves should be kept undeveloped and mature reserves should be expanded.

Please read my comment again. That site is next to a quarry. There is an open mine between the nature reserve and the development site. It's not next to or adjacent to the reserve. Robberg should be saved. But this is just blowing smoke. This is not saving anything.
