rant My wife’s boyfriend won’t stop humiliating me in Mario Kart
My wife’s boyfriend comes over every Friday night and insists on playing Mario Kart before they spend time together. At first it was fun, but lately he’s been taking it way too seriously. He knows all the shortcuts, drifts around every corner perfectly, and somehow always has a blue shell waiting for me on the last lap.
Last week I finally got first place and he just said “good job buddy” before immediately beating me by 20 seconds in the next race. My wife laughed when he started referring to me as “Player 2” instead of using my actual name.
I’ve tried practicing but it’s hard to improve when he’s apparently training like there’s a Mario Kart Olympics. Would it be unreasonable to ask him to use a worse character combination, or is that controlling behavior?

Maybe address the shit that is actually bothering you, like him calling you player 2 and your wife laughing at you?

This part feels like the real issue. Someone being better than you in a video game is funny. But that feels disrespectful.

This feels like some dude trying to punk you cuz he doesn't get how this stuff works.

I think the real issue isnt the game but the constant teasing and maybe your wife is laughing at you and not neutral. I would never laugh at my husband if my bf made fun of him. So i get your frustrations

Don’t ask him to change character composition. Just don’t play. Say you’re not into it anymore, you’re not up to it, or just go with it’s not fun to play with him. Or you could try a different game, maybe something cooperative. Or tell your mom to tell him he needs to stop because it’s not fun and you think it’s a red flag he needs his ego stroked so hard as to humiliate a kid.

It's controling behaviour, it's just a game me and my friend play it all the time ,sometimes I suck at it. That's life . Because essentially what you are doing is asking him to let you win

Practice and get better. Or find a different game where you’re better at him, and return the favor.
