Erasmus in Pescara
/r/Erasmus/comments/1sx9wnd/erasmus_in_pescara/Hi everyone,
I’m currently doing an Erasmus semester in Cagliari and I’m really enjoying it so far. I love how active it is — there are always events going on, the ESN is great, and I really like the mix of people. The beach, the nature, and the overall lifestyle have been amazing too.
I recently got accepted for another Erasmus semester in Chieti-Pescara, and I’m trying to get a better idea of what to expect. I’ve heard mixed things, so I wanted to ask people who have actually been there.
My main concerns are:
Is the city (especially Pescara) safe? I’ve heard it might be a bit less safe than Cagliari.
Does it feel active in terms of student life and ESN events?
Is there a good international/Erasmus community?
Do you think it might feel underwhelming after a place like Cagliari?
I’m a bit worried it might feel boring or less “alive,” especially since I’ve had such a good experience here.
If anyone has done Erasmus in Chieti or Pescara, I’d really appreciate hearing your experience — both good and bad!
Thanks :)

Why do you say that?

Born and raised in Pescara, so my view might be tainted, but life in Pescara as a student will be most definitely boring compared to many italian cities. Sure there’s the beach and a semi decent amount of nightlife and it’s a relatively small city so it’s rather accessible. But there is no Erasmus activity (just came back from Erasmus in Zaragoza, Spain and I know how good erasmus life can be), people are mostly narrow minded and provincial, the movida is very limited, you basically either get drunk in the streets or you sit at bars. There are a couple of clubs but they’re often underwhelming. Albeit during the summer season it can be somewhat fun living the beach nightlife, a little less if you hate raggaeton like me because it’s full of beach clubs that play that 99% of the time. The sea is alright, nothing special. There are basically no landmarks, just a couple of nice museums, but nothing crazy. Also you’re probably gonna study in Chieti, which is arguably worse. If you get the chance to go to any major center-northern city, take it instead. Sadly I’ve never been to Cagliari, so I can’t make a real comparison.

I wanna point out that most of the university courses are not in Pescara but most likely in the university site of Chieti Scalo

Yes, I’m aware, the course are in Chieti but there is a train as I’ve been told.

Hey there and welcome 👋🏼 I'm not a student anymore but I've been living in pescara for 3y now. It's quite safe excluding some well known areas.
Especially in summer there's plenty of events related to the beach and clubs right on the beach.
I can't compare with Cagliari (never been) but if you have any questions just ask 😁
