Was the yellow or any of the expansions taken from county Clare ?

No, the original proposal for the 1950 extension included territory from Clare but despite this (and various other attempts over the years) the border between the two counties is the same as it was in 1840

It's a boundary rather than a border.

Little known fact is out to Sixmilebridge was part of Limerick until 1840. It's the old North Liberties.
