Overnight Parking in Ipswich

Good afternoon everyone! I'm moving to Ipswich for university in September and will need to bring my car for placements. I have been informed by the uni that the parking permit does not however allow me to park overnight, so I'll have to find alternative provisions on residential streets (unless I want to park on the other side of the the town, supposedly).

I was under the impression that 99.9% of the roads were covered under resident permits? Does anyone know a way to be able to park in Ipswich without a. losing an arm and a leg in the process or b. getting a fine from the council?

If you're staying at Athena hall, you can park in their compound which you need to apply for a permit through UoS intranet. Costs £2 a day during term times Mon - Fri.

I was told explicitly by student support that you can't park overnight. Unless they're wrong?

They are talking about the Wharf car park, ask them about Athena hall car park.

You can park close enough if you don’t mind it being on the street. Cliff Lane and Clifford Road for example are close and non permit parking.

It depends how willing/ able you are to walk there is free parking a medium walk away without permits or you could pick up a bike and park your car a little further away long term and just bike around town.
