What do you guys think about Germans?

Hello, I really like the Czech Republic, but I don't think the feeling is always necessarily mutual.

Please be honest. :)

I feel like most people don’t really care about Germany aside from comparing cost of living/purchasing power

According to the official poll, Germany stays among the most favorable countries for Czechs.

Similar culture, good beer, good wurst, a strong work ethic, respect for rules, a history as a scientific and industrial powerhouse, somewhat stuck in the past, and prone to bureaucratizing everything. Besides Poles, Austrians and Slovaks, they’re the people I feel the greatest affinity with. Bavarians are essentially wealthy Czechs.

They have made very impactful decisions for the whole Europe without asking anybody.

Specifically Angela Merkel inviting all sorts of murderers and rapists to Germany, making Europe a "dream haven" for all sorts of criminals.

It's one of the examples where they basically dominated the whole decision making of EU without the proper collective discussion.

On the positive note, they know how to work effectively and are very systematic. I've lived in Germany and I've learned a lot from them that has positively impacted my career.

There are more positive and negative things I could say, but I'll leave it at that.

From the people here who are active on reddit, most will have no problem with the Germans.

Elderly people who (or their parents) participated or benefited from the Vertreibung and have since had some expulsed German’s house in borderlands as their own home or summerhouse would say other things, but primarily out of guilt and fear.

Ohh, interesting you guys always start with forced relocation of Germans, but somehowforget about the teeny tiny fact Germans relocated Czechs from the border regions before that. Those Germans did not benefit from that?

2

u/twilightswolf 4d ago

For the most part, no. Feel free to read anything about the subject before proceeding with the discussion ;-)

1

u/NuhlobaronCZ 4d ago

Read quite a bit about it ;-) but your claim that Germans did not benefit from relocating Czechs is co cute I don't need further discussion with such oponent. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

I did not write they did not, I wrote that majority od them did not. Which is true. Most of them did not benefit at all.

Also, fuck you too. ;-)

I really like German clubs, and German employers are usually fine. German culture is often kinda weird though - they feel rather arrogant in their worldviews and a in a way how they try to impose them on the world around.

Až na jejich talent dělat průsery kolosálních rozměrů.

Jaké průsery? Myslíte války nebo emigraci?

Od válek přes podivnou uprchlickou politiku až po energetiku stavěnou na emocích místo fyzice

I have zero problems with Germans or Germany.

4

u/Its_a_salina 4d ago

They’re fine. Austrians have a better sense of humor.

I personally like Germany, the people and the language. But I don't think that's very common. My guess would be that most people don't really care either way.

I generally like Germans.
I consider you as one of the closest cultures to us.

And I don’t tend to hate entire nationalities.
The only exception is Russians I’d say.
I still don’t think being a Russian makes you bad in and of itself but their culture is just fucked.

For example Bayern with its poeple and cuisine is very similar to Czechia. I love that place though I don't support their open policy and islamisation of Germany.

Every german person that ive seen working had his work ethic really fucked up. Worst jobs on the site and always the first ones that leave. Also paid most for their unskilled work that lack some sort of quality. Arogant ones as well.

don't care. the only ones i actively dislike are german tourists, because they behave just like british tourists. rest is aight

1

u/alanie_ 4d ago

Love germans. They are polite, educated and hilarious (the german stare).

1

u/l0lkil3rCZ 4d ago

Am I supposed to know every single one of them??

1

u/Pospitch 3d ago

Germans or German tourists? Because that's massive difference.

1

u/boris_dp 3d ago

I don’t think often about all Germans

1

u/carpenter_78 3d ago

Almost 1500 years of “Drang nach Osten” gave us a lesson: never ever trust them.

1

u/johyzprahy 3d ago

I love german language and culture, especially music scene.

1

u/Jesfey 3d ago

The evil of the 20th century which haven't changed much. Luckily, their culture, which makes them to eradicate some nationalities every few centuries, is getting replaced.

not bad if Merkel is not included😃

I don't think about you at all.

I would guess there is a bit of jealoucy for the pay and standard of living of pensioners. There is definitely nothing antisemitic or any remains from ww2. Germans are a good paying employers for the west part of Czechia. You might find some lower social class citizens complaining about EU ideas. But overall I think it is definitely more positive than Ukranians/Vietnamese. On par with Slovaks. I think people would expect you to be rich.

I come from the Sudets so I don’t really see the difference besides speaking a different language. And an Ahoj always works anyway

1

u/rionka 1d ago

it's neighbors, their economy is closely intertwined with ours, I appreciate them.

1

u/Tough-Importance-661 21h ago

I don’t really know any tbh. I guess only thing I could say they’re richer than us and don’t like joking about WW2.

1

u/belgranita 18h ago

As half Czech/German I think both are pretty similar. Czechs learn a lot from Germany's mistakes and they are very active in preventing the same issues. Generally, I think there is neither a positive nor a negative sentiment towards Germans when compared to most other Western countries. Well, Germans pay a lot of our bills since we do a lot of stuff for them, but they don't seem to appreciate.

1

u/Wee-Mewon 12h ago

Way too loud in cs2 And also hateful in every way you can think of (most of the time)

1

u/EveryDamnChikadee 4d ago

I love them

-3

u/Red_Trapezoid 4d ago

I’m cool with the average German but I’m absolutely disgusted with Germany’s Zionist government. What the people allow is to a degree a reflection of themselves.

2

u/twilightswolf 4d ago

Pardon my french in an english-language thread about Germans, but what the fuck?

2

u/Kack-Pro 4d ago

Our government is horrible

Maybe they have six million reasons for it.

Some people are jealous of better living standarts, some remember the past war crimes and such. Many dont realize that czech people were part of german empire for way longer than we have our own independent country. As we can see in many shared customs. Germans are okay. Shame about the language being so different.

1

u/omnihash-cz 4d ago

That's not entirely true. HRE was more loose confederation of independent countries than a single entity. 1p9

1

u/WodKonuckers 4d ago

That does not contradict what the other commenter said

1

u/Illustrious_Handle62 4d ago

german empire?

2

u/Just_History_690 4d ago

Holy roman empire. Czech and german lands were closely tied for most of history.

-1

u/PerspectiveAlert4766 4d ago

Abbreviated name for "Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation"?
