Are there any quiet areas to study?
Unfortunately, I recently had to stop working at the last place I was working with my apprenticeship and I’m currently in the process of finding a new one. However I cannot tell my parents and I need somewhere where I can go to pretend to be at work for the day. preferably somewhere with long hours but I just need somewhere with Air-con and I can do my College work or read a book. I was thinking about coffee shops but I don’t exactly have the money to spend and I’m not sure how long I’m going to have to be doing this. Up until this point I’ve been saying I was on holiday but to much time has passed I can’t do that anymore. Any places you have would be great. I need both weekdays and weekends.
I’m 17 so busses are still free so long as I’m no t taking trains travel expenses are not an issue
Edit to add: my work days (chef in central London) start very early because it’s a long journey in so I leave my house at about 5:30 I can push it to 6:30 leave but I have to be gone before my mum starts waking up and I’m not usually home till 8:30 again could push to 7:00 but public areas aren’t gonna be open this early especially on Sundays, if you know anything I’ll take it

Have you thought about joining a gym? Plenty of 24 hour gyms around so you could go early in the morning if you need to be out of the house. And then you could go to Croydon Library to study during the day.

Any free ones? I cannot afford a membership seeing as I’ve been on apprenticeship minimum wage and I’m no longer getting an income.

Would echo others and recommend the library network. Had to do something similar recently and travelled around on buses/trams using different libraries for a few weeks in the borough and neighbouring ones. Most open early on different days so hopefully should fit what you are looking for. Good Luck!

If buses are free, start your early hours before the libraries open with a bus ride up to where it terminates, then get one coming back. You can read your book in peace during that time, then off to the library for the rest of the day. Sorted.

When I was pretending to be at work, I would spend the day in Wetherspoons. Get there early enough (most open at 8am) and claim a table, buy one hot drink and you can get free refills all day. The fact that you’re under 18 shouldn’t matter at that time of day.

The Royal Festival Hall near Waterloo could work - there's even an area on the ground floor full of people hanging out with laptops etc. It's open from 1000-2300 Tues-Sun, closed on Mondays.

Not sure about how Croydon library operates but there are libraries in neighbouring boroughs where you can access the library before it opens using your library card, Wallington and Mitcham library both have these facilities

Libraries are what you are after...
Consider the best way to speak to your parents. Lies only get harder to maintain and eat people up inside.
