These are some of the photos I have managed to save from the chemical fire at Daler-Rowney on Bank Holiday Monday. I will add on the videos that I took before we were evacuated. I was from one of the 100 households that was evacuated due to the risk of the chemical fumes & smoke. We spent most of the afternoon & evening trying to find out where the evacuation information point was, then we had to wait until after midnight to get emergency accommodation. We finally got placed in a hotel in Winnersh Triangle until it was safe to return home.

Videos to follow…

(old 1980's?) Bracknell cycle map

Hi, anyone have an image of the cycle map that Bracknell used to have, i remember it from the early 1980's, well in to mid 1980's. It was a folded sheet, and had color lines marking the cycling routes for Bracknell

I was just wondering with the bank holiday coming up — what DIY jobs are people planning to tackle?

I work around beginner DIY skills locally and it’s always interesting how many people want to do more themselves, but just need a bit of confidence to get started.

Things like shelves, fixings, flat pack, simple tiling, flooring, and all those small jobs that get put off for months.

What do you wish you knew how to do properly at home?

If anyone wants to ask about tools, materials, or where to start, feel free to message me.

Horrible news, hopefully they've caught the right people so there is at least some justice.

Weird take… but nearly none of the streets on birch hill Road are actually are in Birch Hill

Just noticed this - we have Deansgate, Ditchling, Donnybrook, Dryden, Lydney, Ludlow, Liscombe, Lochinver, Latimer, Ladybank, and leppington in BH Road. Yet technically, only Ludlow, Liscombe, Ladybank and Leppington are part of birch hill, the rest of it is technically Hanworth. The other streets all have the orange signs (The ones pointing to different house numbers) and all the official things like paperwork from the council etc refer to those areas as Hanworth.

Anyone else notice that?

Planning a home renovation in Bracknell this year? Some advice on avoiding the usual headaches

Hi everyone, I know finding a reliable builder and navigating Bracknell Forest Council's planning rules can be a nightmare. We've been doing structural alterations and refurbishments in the area for a long time, so I decided to put together a comprehensive guide for locals. When you actually need planning permission vs permitted development in our area. How to ensure you get a fixed-price quote (and avoid hidden costs) Timelines you should realistically expect for extensions or full house refurbishments. If you're thinking about a project in 2026, hopefully this helps put your mind at ease and gives you a roadmap! You can read the full guide here: https://www.ahhomeimprovements.co.uk/home-renovations-near-me-bracknell-guide to answer any specific questions about local building control or structural work in the comments too!

Cost to use athletics track?

I'm trying to find out how much it costs to use the track by the leisure centre but can't find any information anywhere besides the athletics club website, but all of their prices are for training sessions with the club, which I'm not interested in joining. Outside of club hours is it just free to use?

Anyone used hup! or CWGhup for conservatory roof replacement or extension in Bracknell?

I keep seeing hup! conservatory roof and extension systems popping up for Berkshire area (especially with CWGhup). Would love to hear actual local experiences—was the install really quick, did it solve comfort/insulation issues? If anyone's curious, this guide breaks down costs/comfort factors: [Solid Conservatory Roof Replacement Guide Berkshire](https://www.cwghup.co.uk/2025/10/16/solid-conservatory-roof-replacement-berkshire-your-2025-guide-to-comfort-value-and-rapid-installation/) Really want to know what's worked for people locally!
