That was a fun mini-arc! Lots of fun moments and just all around pretty hyped. Considering we're going to see Mewtwo next episode, I wonder if that means we'll have a lot more focus on the various legendary pokemon in the world (especially since GOU caught Eternatus).

Also, that hug between Gou and Cinderace was super duper pure.

Reminds me of the adorableness when he first caught it.

Why do people call him Gou when the name is clearly Go because POKEMON GO?

Because his Japanese name is read as Gou.

But I watch on japanese and they very clearly say go(h)

That's how you pronounce Gou.

Ahhh thanks!! I wasn't getting it

No problem. That's how the Japanese always pronounce the ou sound.

That's how Japanese is. "u" after an "o" sound is not spoken like a down "u" like "cute", but it just stretches the "o" sound a bit. Another one is the more common form for saying father, "Otou-(sama/san)". It spoken as "Oto(o)-(sama/san)". My Japanese is a bit weak, but I shouldn't be too far of the mark.

Do you realice how stupid it is to writte a mute u that comes from an english word that doesn't have it and in japanese is not pronounced?

Gou is a normal Japanese name though. So even it's a refence to Pokemon GO, the fact that they named the character Gou isn't that weird and maybe more relatable for Japanese children.
