I was surprised she didn't question Ryo's magic in this episode since we could saw her conscious after they left the dungeon xD

Its such a weird thing. This guy only Abel really knows just pops down from the ceiling, having dug a hole from the 39th floor or so, and then proceeds to cut the head off a legendary monster and then cast a spell 256 times simultaneously and no one bats an eye. Such a terrible aspect of this show. I have to wonder if the source material is better about that.

It made sense to have him banter with Abel at least. But everyone else should be FREAKING OUT. Everything he's doing completely breaks what everyone thought they knew. And only like 3 of them have any warning for it. Even could have just had the dungeon expedition leader swear people to secrecy or something.

I'm also curious about the giant hole he drilled now. Seen too many shows with dungeons actually showing repair mechanisms of it for it to just be ignored.

We didn't see much of an initial reaction. Which could be chocked up to shock. The fight was extremely short after all. The failing to me is we didn't see any reaction in the background as they were coming out of the dungeon. It makes since that none of the adventurers approached him to ask about it though. Dude, just dropped from the ceiling and soloed a demon prince, and complained about how weak he was the entire fight. If I was one of the random adventurers I would probably let Able handle that situation too. The court Mage has less of an excuse where that's concerned though.

I wondered about the giant hole too. It seems like the sort of detail that is going to get ignored. It feels like it could do all sorts of weird things to the ecology of the dungeon though. Not to mention 40 floor holes are a hell of a falling hazard.

The battle with people we've never met to name-drop Ryo got thrown in there, so things kinda got mixed up with how much time was actually spent dealing with the whole situation. And even without the falling hazard, nobody has ever been past 38 and now level 40 has a direct route to the top. But the fact that it wasn't mentioned again once they got off the bottom floor, and the series doesn't have the word "dungeon" in it(I realized all the ones I was thinking of do) means they'll probably just ignore it and move on.

The court Mage said he eliminated the monsters in seconds. It seems like it only took 1 spell for the fodder, 1 exchange of swords, and 1 supper spell for the leader, so It didnt look like it took very long. But I agree you never really know how long something takes in these sort of fights. 5 minutes to blow up a planet is 8 episodes and all that.

It could just be a difference in subs (I let my crunchyroll laps last month for reasons) but the guild master called it a dungeon a couple times in the carriage. I forgot they mentioned 38 was the furthest explored. If I was them I would worry about something using the holes as an express way to fly up. Either way I agree them not making a bigger deal about the hole would be a literal plot hole. Maybe they'll throw a line about repairing it somewhere down the track.

Oh, I meant very specifically the title of the show. Dungeon Meshi, Dungeon people, Is it wrong to try to pick up girls in a Dungeon? Those are the ones that immediately come to mind that have the dungeon changing and responding to stuff. There's a few others that have it in their long title but I'm less certain the dungeon system is as advanced for those.

I'd be kinda surprised if they even go back to it at this point. He's got an escort mission deliberately outside it. The most I'd expect is his roommates hearing rumors about a giant hole and he acts suspicious and changed the subject. And the elf girl has barely got any time still, and she's the ED like she's a main character.

Maybe in this episode they'll deal with it while he is put doing whatever random shit the guild master could come up with on the spot. 

Like, while Arthur threatens and/or pays off the others, the Guild master classifies shit, pays the adventurers that were there (or earh mages) to fix the holes and to keep their mouths shut.

Safe to say, Abel's party is gonna be entirely mind blown.

I think Arthur actually was freaking out, in a wise old guy kind of way. He and Hugh made it clear afterward that they're terrified of what might happen if they (edit: more precisely, the kingdom) found themselves not in Ryo's good graces for some reason. That's why they agreed to make no mention of Ryo's involvement, to keep him out of the eye of Knightley politics, which just might piss him off. Having said that, Ryo's "punishment" for ignoring the guards must have an ulterior motive of some kind.

Edit: It occurs to me that one reason for the carriage ride might have been that, given a meeting on very short notice, Hugh could more accurately gauge Ryo's reaction to consequences for blowing past the guards. It must have come as a great relief that he seemed to expect them and had no particular objection, as Hugh could hardly have insisted too strongly. I do wonder about his promise that it will be mutually beneficial though.

If the hole Ryo drilled won't close up on its own, it'll make a dandy elevator shaft for dungeon exploration convenience.

Not that I remember. But we've seen everything hinted at in the OP except for that couple standing on the battlement, so I bet we're going to see them there.

I hope Ryo somehow runs into Roman and has cause to gently slap him around a little. That guy rubs me the wrong way for some reason.

That sentence probably shouldn't be perceived so negatively, but I guess there has been too many annoying narcissistic "heroes" recently.

It's the classic blunder, aside from starting a land war in Asia and going up against a Sicilian when death is on the line: Assuming there's no one stronger than you and that you're unbeatable.

Ryo doesn't make that assumption, and he's got far more justification. But then, he's also a little clueless about power scales. He also fought Leonore and sparred with Sera, so he knows how strong some others can be and that he's just barely keeping up in some ways.

Honestly to me it sounded more like disbelief and shock than hurt pride, if anything the hero's partymates sounded much more aggravated and offended than him.

[Spoiler source] The light novel also comments that what he did (drill through the dungeon) was physically impossible because by conventional standards most magicians, including "prodigies" in each element have tried and failed what he did

The thing is Ryo's power is really immeasurable from their POV. He seems insanely strong and all, but you need knowledge to even be able to begin to understand how strong he is. It's just like how Abel had no idea that using magic at a distance was such an impossible thing. Ryo's fight looked so ridiculous that there was nothing to question, it just looked strong and there was nothing else to see, only things to accept.

Right? There are so many implications of Ryo showing off like that and only the old man and abel were really the only ones to have a proper reaction. Definitely a weaker part of this show

It is worth considering that the entire crew was basically barely standing at this point and probably most of them are in some level of shock given they are near the point of death. Then Ryo shows up and within what is essentially 3 short moves (2 spells and a swing of a sword) the conflict is over and they are suddenly preparing to return to the surface.

It's extremely common for trauma survivors to not remember all of/most of what happened during (hence the saying "it was all a blur") so a large part of it is probably that they are all shell shocked and hadn't yet been given time to process what happened. And of course mix in the important point Abel made to his party of "do not pry and accidentally anger the walking talking nuclear bomb" for good measure.

My guess is we will get a debrief/decompression scene next episode where Abel's party actually gets a chance to sit down, discuss, and understand what they saw/experienced.

We still have next episode to hope, removing Ryo from town could very well be for that purpose. Also, most of them were half dead and had been dealing with impossible stuff for a bit now (not a lot since it would take like tips 15-30 minutes most of which would be Natalie running to get Ryo) so they were probably processing it as "par for the course".

It think it's a side effect of being based on a LN. With prose, you tend to forget about the background characters in a scene, especially of it's full of dialogue between two people. In a visual medium like this, it's painfully obvious there are other people in the scene who are just standing around doing nothing.

Honestly... I think most of them were still reeling about what happened when he arrived and lopped the heads off all the devils.

The whole demon prince fight in world, only took like 30 seconds from start to finish.

I doubt most of the people had recovered from seeing ryo even appear in that time, and even then they are exhausted to the point of collapse, and then just 15 completely nonsensical things happen in less than a minute.

That's being very considerate, ir was probably closer ton 10-15 seconds, most of which was Ryo roasting the demok prince and te prince picking his head back up. 

The demon prince blitzed Abel and most of the people there would probably be barely able to reaxtvto Abel, they didn't even see most of Ryo's moves just blurrs and a dead nightmare.

I found it funny that technically no one was shown on screen apart from the Demon Prince, Abel, and Ryo when Ryo was doing all of that, however at the end of the last episode the other characters were closer enough to be shown in near Abel.

I bet this is a running gag on the show of her always questioning the casting of magic in a distance. She might see it in the last ep.
