MSc online, worth it?

Hi, I'm exploring the idea of doing my master's degree at the UoA through their online campus. Has anyone started or finished a degree in this format? What are your thoughts? Is it worth it? I am from México and at first I was trying to get a degree in a US-Based university but their prices are just ridiculous.

I'm interested in the Advance Mechanical Engineering program starting September.

I’m Ibrahim, 36 from Saudi Arabia, a student at Aberdeen Uni.

I’m extraverted, I’m into almost anything, walking, running, cooking, meeting new people, going for coffee/tea, working out… I like philosophy, and deep topics..

I don’t mind if you’re younger or older than me.. BUT NO MINORS.

If you have an idea on how to meet people here, please share yo thoughts.

Thank you :)

Studying Abroad!

Hello!

I am going to study abroad here next semester, coming from the US, but I have not really left the US before or studied abroad. I have heard from a few people that the course load is different and that it is very study intensive. One friend said 60 hour study weeks, which seems a bit much, honestly. Anyways, what can I expect in terms of social life, academic schedules, etc? Also, what tips do you have so I do not end up looking like an oblivious American lol

How’s the nightlife in Aberdeen for young people?

Currently 17 (18 by the time I go to Aberdeen) and living in Edinburgh, but I’m thinking about going to Aberdeen for university this year, I visited the city and it looked alright

But then I started looking at the nightclubs in the city online and when I go to their Instagram pages I’ve noticed it’s mostly filled with older people and I’m wondering if this is a case for most nightclubs in Aberdeen the clubs I looked at specifically were AURA and club Tropicana & venga, I looked at both their Instagram pages and I saw mostly older people

I’d want to hang out in a place that has people of a similar age to me and as for music I’d like pop/hip-hop and I’m wondering if anywhere is like this exist in Aberdeen?

Firstly, can anyone 100% confirm whether classes for medical students take place in the fosterhill campus?

Second, kindly recommend student accommodation sites for postgraduates near the fosterhill campus.

Single gender accommodation

Are there any good ones around uni? Idm if its private or run by the uni, but from my research about private ones, I can’t really find any single gendered so wondering if i should just end up opting for a studio instead (I would prefer a shared kitchen tho so I can still socialize especially as a first year). Any advise is appreciated!

Where do 1st year medical students live? How far is the daily commute, by walking or by shuttle bus?

As titled. It seems there are no halls in or close to the medical campus.

So i got into medicine here, just wondering if anyone has any idea how to find flatmates without having to go into halls? I’m a postgrad so at 24 going back to halls isnt the most ideal. Bigger cities ive been its been fairly easy to find others through fb groups etc, but havent found the same when looking in aberdeen. If anyone has any guidance please shoot me a message!!! Ty xx

How math heavy is the Chemistry degree at the University of Aberdeen?

Hi everyone,

I’m an international student previously studied Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Science for the last two years, but considering transfer to the University of Aberdeen to study pure Chemistry - transfer into year three.

I’m a bit worried about maths and physics side of the degree. Since my previous degree was focused heavily on organic chemistry and biology. Any chemistry students here? How hard did you find it?

Thanks in advance
