Suggestion on Powis place
Hey everyone,
I’m considering booking accommodation at Powis Place in Aberdeen and wanted to hear some honest reviews from people who are currently staying there or have stayed before.
Would really appreciate any insights, pros/cons, or things to watch out for before booking. Thanks!

If it’s the student accommodation then you’re fine - Central to town with a Lidl close by.
Cons are the general powis/ Froghall/ George St area is a dump

But also lots of little multicultural shops and cafes
I lived close to there for a while and really enjoyed my time there

Ive lived at Powis Place for years now and i think its a great location. Its a wide street and plenty of elderly folk living there, good lighting at the evenings and within comfortable walking distance to town, Nescol, Aberdeen uni. I think its so much better than living on George st directly, or Kittybrewster.

Not stayed there but had a couple of friends who have and ended up staying in Aberdeen longer term. They enjoyed their time there and said the facilities and staff are nice. Area is fine enough - the worst bits of froghall/powis are behind those buildings and technically you could avoid walking through some of those bits altogether. I’ve seen a lot of folk say George street can be dodgy but I’ve never had an issue and lots of mates have stayed there and they’ve not had any problems either so not sure if it just gets a bit rowdy at a weekend or something. Very close to a few supermarkets and anything you would need, short walk into town, on several main bus routes (including airport and train/bus station). Ideal if going to Aberdeen uni, wouldn’t take more than 15/20mins to walk.
