employed physicist

Those of you who have completed research physics and are currently working, how is it, what exactly do you do, are you satisfied, do you work inside your country (and if yes, which one) or abroad, online, how difficult was it for you to get your current job?

I did an undergraduate in physics and now work as a scientist in quantum sensing. I work in person and mostly on the code and math to model the quantum system, can't disclose much more than that! I'd say I was super lucky to be able to get this job with only my undergraduate degree.

Do you think some other quality of yours helped you get that job? Do you mind sharing what country is that? Do they have any online workers?

I work in Canada, no online work for the place I'm at. I think I was able to land this job since I'm very good at programming compared to others in my field. I've got an extensive background with computers and understanding how they work allowed me to optimize some algorithms to be thousands of times faster and more precise.

How did you get good at programming? Are you self taught?

Yeah completely self taught. I found my way of learning is to just dive into difficult problems instead of methodically studying a book or course and managed to learn Python and C++ pretty fast.

Would you say those two languages are enough?
