I find it pretty difficult right now to browse the library on library.kiwix.org unless you know exactly what you're looking for and can search for it. Please give us options to sort based on brand new ZIMs as well as updates, and please also put the date of the most recent update in the ZIM's description box.

I assume it can be done. I'm particularly interested in converting the Elden Ring wiki to .zim format. Is it possible? And if so, feasible?

I used zimit to archive my wiki and it worked great! As long as I paused cloudflare.

I use a fairly restrictive rule set for cloudflare, no bots and USA ip's only to keep traffic down

is there a particular ip address or bot signature I can whitelist to allow zimit to work without pausing cloudflare?

Hey there, I need help with making a .zim files of our governmental body website that helps oversees the national language dictionary. Think of it like the easily accessible online Cambridge Dictionary or the Merriam-Webster Dictionary. The site link is as below:

Since it requires user input of searching for words before displaying the page, I'm guessing this would require some sort of workaround that I am not familiar with in order to scrape the words database. I have tried with the Zimit website and it online gives the frontpage of around 400kb XD (please forgive me for my noobness).

My request: Is it possible for this website to be archived to zim? If it can be, would you kind enough to direct me to the righy direction to do so?

My reason: I want to have our language's website be accessible by students in school from deep rural areas where Internet access can be limited and patchy. Setting up offline Kiwix Wikipedia has been tremendous for us, and the next step is for us to have dictionary that we can use to bridge the gap between English-Bahasa Melayu so students can then use the English Wikipedia just as well as the Malay Wikipedia too.

I was wondering if the kiwix hotspot would let me do basic web browsing, or atleast allows me to play fps games on steam like TF2, CS2 or Blackwake? Would I be able to browse or see Reddit posts using it?

So I built my first cyberdeck and wanted to get an offline wiki going on it and so I found kiwix which is exactly what I wanted. I followed all the steps but when I ran the application the online files don’t show anything. Maybe I messed up somewhere but not sure. Any help would be appreciated. Also I’m a complete noob so please be patient if I’m not understanding.

Zims are available thru https://download.kiwix.org/zim/ still but the library wants to refer back to lbo.download.kiwix.org? is this a permanent change?

I installed the app on several of my Android devices (new ones), and clicking on the download tab leads to a quick 1 sec try to access the data, which fails and simply shows "No items available".

Anyone else experienced this? Any fix?

I have recently released the beta version of Tensor, a service that turns your local ZIM files into vector databases that provides semantic understanding of the contents of your ZIM archive to OpenAI-compatible AI models.

Combining keyword search and semantic search, Tensor helps produce more accurate and adequate responses for the data you have included in a vector database. Tensor offers a full workflow that is built to enhance the local AI experience, however there is also optional features (offline-first by default) features such as web search for time-sensitive information, and configuring API keys to use (currently working on MCP Server).

This project is still under development, and in the process of optimization. tensor-serve is an open-source project, and everyone is is welcome to use and contribute to this project.

I've seen some of my wiki editor peers include a few important game wikis, such as Minecraft, Stardew Valley, The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, and Risk of Rain 2. As a result, I requested 1-2 months ago the inclusion of the wikis for Vampire Survivors and Balatro, which are two wikis I actively edit, that are now available to read in the app.

Hello! I downloaded Kiwix from the Mac App Store, and then downloaded the full-size English Wikipedia (123 GB). I opened and it seems to work fine if I click a link within a page (loads instantly), but I can't search for anything using the search bar at the top of the app. It just spins and spins. What am I doing wrong? This is on a 2015 MacBook Pro.

I posted here last year about an experimental project exploring the limits of the ZIM format by using it for an offline pan-and-zoom interactive world atlas with map (pre-rendered raster tiles) and satellite imagery. This is now at version 6.

Compared to earlier versions (previously under the "Offline World Map" name), this version expands zoom coverage up to level 11 and adds integrated offline place search (GeoNames-based).

The bundled dataset now includes over 11 million tiles, with a file size of ~35 GiB (lower than I expected, likely due to increased tile redundancy at higher zoom levels), suggesting the ZIM format is still viable at this scale.

The download is not free (mainly due to build costs), but I wanted to share it here for anyone interested in pushing the ZIM format beyond document-style content.

Something lightweight that you actually use more than expected.

e.g. I've got a ~4 MB ZIM with the full text of the Bible - kind of wild how much content fits in there. Curious what others are using.

im using to store all off Wikipedia but i cant use my local storage so IM storing it in data repository anyone know how to do it?

Im downloading multiple zim files for prepper guides but no matter what it only shows one under library. I checked the download location and they're all there, is there anyway to get the rest to show up? Im on android btw

I made a kiwix hotspot to take with me camping and on road trips so I can have all the useful survival resources as well as maps, medical information and all that fun utility jazz

But I still have plenty of storage left and I would love to host my collection of movies to watch offline and store my photography on it as a record of the places I go and things I see.

Is this something that would be possible and if so what would be the best way to do so? Storage is no issue is have a tb in my hotspot so it should be fine to hold everything

so, I was thinking of cutting my internet connection this month, and I'm trying to store as much data for off-line use as possible. I have some games stored for off-line use for the times when I get bored, but I'm sure that I'll be needing help online at some point when the games get too difficult.

I noticed there are "zelda" fandom wikis, "hero siege" fandom wiki, etc etc, but is there a website where most video game walkthroughs are stored in one place, and which I can download as a zim file? or do I have to go through all the wikis one by one for each game, and then download each separately using something like zimit?

EDIT: I've found "Gamefaqs" & "Strategywiki" for two possible contenders for these websites. but there's no existing .zim files of these websites from what I could find. would be really awesome if someone knows where to get a .zim copy of these sites, thanks!
