Discussion What are your plans for the GTA 6 release?
I’m taking a week off and I’ll probably pull an all nighter on the night of release, I cannot wait for this game to come out, even if the game isn’t that good, I gotta see what took them so long to make it!

Probably wait a year until it goes on sale, play it for a weekend and never finish it

Same, it'll have too many options that's drive me crazy as I won't know what to do first.

Yeah I can't understand people being excited to run this thing on a ps5 at 30fps.

My newest will be a month old so I might get to play a few hours in the new year

I’ll be well into my 40s if I’m still around by then. Wonder where GTA7 will be set lol

Play it and go "this isn't as good as Vice City" like I did with San Andreas / 4 / 5

u/Majestic-Willow-1605 3d ago
Im getting married. I'll get back to Vice City a few weeks after release date☺️

u/Chaos-Jesus 3d ago
I'll be waiting a year or two....
Then when I do get to play it the lobbies will be full of cheaters randomly exploding everything.
PC masterrace 🥲

I fear it won't live up to the hype and production years but then again RDR2 was fantastic so I want to believe.
It's a day one purchase for me, I'll get my money's worth but whether it's a landmark game like the previous ones, we'll have to wait and see

Have annual leave booked for it, if there's a midnight launch I'll go as I'm only around the corner from my local Smyths. Hopefully there's a decent collector's edition like with 4 and 5. Although unlike the RDR2 launch hopefully I don't fall asleep waiting an hour for it to install...

Bought a ps5 a few months ago especially for it so taking that day off it's a Thursday so going into town in the morning to pick up the game,.and taking the next day off and then not working weekends. I'll get a good fix from that. It's going to be incredible, Rockstar never misses and it's been so long in production it will 100% be a masterpiece. Can't believe people here aren't hyped for it bet you like cringey games

I’m probably going to loan my PS5 to my friend so he can play, and then when he’s done, I’ll play the copy of the game that he bought

I'd be interested if they have a cool special edition or steelbook option. That would get my pre order for sure.
I will be very busy at that time of year so will have to enjoy it where possible!

I'll wait to see if it needs any patches after release. I'll avoid spoilers like the plague. Especially from my 13 year old who looks everything up on YouTube and casually drops spoilers

u/KneeShlapper 3d ago
I won't get it because I am married with kids and don't have any consoles ....... God I wish I had more time for games !!

nothing, I'll be waiting for PC release. I'm not gonna pay €600 for a PS5 just for one game.
Tbh it's a bullshit move from Rockstar, PC is way more mainstream now than it was in 2013, zero reason not to have it launch at the same time unless they just wanted to squeeze a few more quid out of people

u/Call-of-the-lost-one 3d ago
Naw the Wolverine game is more interesting than another GTA game. It won't be that different from 5

u/dragonmynuts88 3d ago
Buy it and play it i feel like it's so overhyped tho it could be underwhelming

u/John_OSheas_Willy 3d ago
I love the communal excitement of games like this. Last time it happened was rdr2 8 years ago.
I'm going to try and get it for release or next day.

I will be on paternity leave and my wife thinks I was joking when I mentioned the perfect timing

u/Substance79 2d ago
It might have qualified for a day off work but the reality is there's tons of AAA games sitting on everyone's drives these days that puts shade on a new GTA and there's going to be nothing radically different about it.
I might buy a PS5pro if the game is an 11/10. A 9 isn't really good enough.

u/dimebag_101 2d ago
As with any launch I wouldn't take off first few days. Be bugs and servers be fecked

u/NateDogsCats 1d ago
To be honest I'd be very, very surprised if the online mode is up at launch. Looking back at the initial GTAV release it wasn't released until a month afterwards, and even then it was a complete mess. I remember being glitched out of the opening mission twice and then giving up for a week or two until some of the issues were ironed out

Couple days off work , couple bottles of beer , maybe the devils lettuce ( 32 now and haven’t smoked in 10 years )

u/VirtuaGrant 1d ago
I took several days off when GTA V came out; ordered loads of pizza and didn't leave the house. I was a PhD student back then and could do that no hassle.
Now 13 (!) years later...I have a 2yo daughter and another due in September, I'll be lucky to play 6 at all before GTA 7 comes out, probably another decade from now.

u/External_Ad_1010 1d ago
Probably pull a sickie for Thursday work half day Friday then all weekend to play

u/Different-Sun-6049 1d ago
Buying a console solely to play the game. Hopefully get a physical copy so I’ll sell both after I finish the game

u/Quiet-Flamingo4928 4d ago
Taking the week off work probably gonna be early access so I didn't book it yet 19th will be normal date but definitely be early access so il wait till that comes out and will book the week off . Try and do the story mode quick as it will definitely get spoiled

The hype is gone for me...I'll wait a year or two and pick it up on sale.
Take me another few months to finish it then 😂

u/Accomplished-Low2131 4d ago
I’ll probably watch a video about it, think that sounds fun, get around to buying it another year or two after that

I'll just play it the weekend it's out, they're probably going to lean a lot more into the online aspects this time around as I doubt they ever expected GTA5 online to be such a hit.
Which for me will be a bummer but we'll see. I get the hype for younger people though as it's going to be a lot of people's first GTA launch just a pity these huge gaps will likely be the norm for them now.
I imagine most people who loved GTA back in the day aren't too fussed about it anymore.

u/ConradMcduck 4d ago
Wild assessment 😅
-1
u/Dave1711 PC 4d ago
How so? They've said themselves they've put a big focus on the online side much more so then they did with 5.
Just not expecting much from it tbh as I felt RDR2 was a bit drab too and loved the original.

u/Too-many-Bees 4d ago
It's been so long, I don't care any more. I almost certainly won't bother with it
-6
u/Mykk6788 4d ago
Skip it completely. Year on year Rockstar Games keep proving themselves to be one of the biggest scumbags of the industry.
4
u/NoelKMUFC 4d ago
Why's that?
3
u/Mykk6788 4d ago
Well let's look at the list so far:
before RDR2s release, one of the top devs accidentally revealed that the studio pushed several of its staff into working 100 hour weeks. For reference, it's straight-up illegal to work more than 48 hour weeks in Ireland unless you volunteer to do it.
They approved the release of the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition, despite the laughable state it was in. Still glad to take everyone's money though.
Ex Staff have stated that Rockstar pays well-below the average minimum salary compared to other companies, and their excuse is that there is "Prestige" in being known for working for them.
They recently fired 30 employees purely because they were setting up meetings about Rockstar Staff Unionising. And then decided to make things worse by claiming the 30 members were fired because they were the ones releasing GTA6 leaks. The leaks continued after they were fired btw.
The head honchos gave the go-ahead for an interactable torture scene in GTA5. I can't imagine that needs further explanation.
Several voice actors have come out over the years claiming Rockstar underpaid them. Both in comparison to other games and accounting for how well the games they featured in sold.

Do what I did with gta 5, get a cheap version after 4 years in cex or on game pass, proceed to not enjoy it and delete it

u/WeirdMoyai 4d ago
I want to be excited but I can't bear to play it on the base PS5, so I'm gonna have to wait for the PC release. Hopefully won't be spoiled on too much during the wait!

Not planning anything incase is delayed or theres another covid...when i see it and can hold it ill plan accordingly

Honestly every GTA I play as a sandbox and have fun for a few hours then dip in and out of. I loved 2, like 3 as an amazing technical fest. 4 was the first one I was old enough to properly "appreciate" and I found the missions way too samey. "Go here, collect someone/something, something bad will happen, get out". Found 5 the same but had a lot of fun playing online with mates.
If it's on gamepass I'll play it, but will probably just wait until they release online as a separate purchase. Might make a bad decision to purchase the game on a payday if it's reasonably priced but if it's 100 that temptation will not exist.

I really hoping that it's delayed for another month.. My 18 year old niece fell in love with Dexys Midnight Runners last year when Come On Eileen played on my car stereo. They announced a gig in Dublin in early Nov (when I had planned to be in Vietnam on a motorbike).
I love Dexys and have seen them several times in concert over the years, so I've had to put my trip back a few weeks and won't gets back home until early Dec... The things you do for family...

Everybody in this thread is awfully grim, is it cool to hate on GTA 6 now for some reason?
I'll probably book the day after it launches off and grind it then, I'll be gobsmacked if it's not a solid 9/10 - RDR2 was a masterpiece
