Annunciation - a little laugh

I know there’s a running joke/discussion about Hoziers lack of enunciation (edit) in some songs, so this was too good to not share with the masses.

My daughter (she’s 5) was singing yesterday and she said “mom, why does he say limmy jimmy?” And I said “I’m sorry but I don’t understand what you mean” and she said “when my time comes around, limmy jimmy in the cold dark earth” 😂😭

Safe to say Work Song will never be listened to the same again.

Fyi, Enunciation is pronouncing things clearly. Annunciation is Gabriel telling Mary she's pregnant.

Oops LOL. That’s what I get for quickly writing at 6 AM.

It gave me a little chuckle thinking about Hozy acting as a divine pregnancy test.

As an Irishman with a similar accent to his, this is quite funny. We are not known for the clarity of our enunciation lol

Ah god, I only travel to the UK every now and again and I genuinely don’t think I could live there because no one knows what the fuck I’m saying😂

Yeah it's rough out here lmaooo. Me and my friend have started mixing random words as gaeilge into our conversations to see if anyone questions lol

I started gaeilge on DuoLingo! My son was like, mom what are you listening to?!?

Oh cool! Its a tough language if you have no grounding in it but its also super poetic and fun

Agreed! My son‘s like, “ Ma that’s a dead language!” I said not in Ireland🤣

Listen, I used to think the lyrics: “I wanna be loud - so loud I’m talkin’ seismic” from Anything But were: “I wanna be loved - so Lord come circumcise me” and for too long I just rolled with that because I thought it was some metaphorical shit I was too dumb to understand.

Literally laughed out loud bc this is so reallll. Like idk maybe if I go with it enough I’ll get it eventually 🤣🤣🤣 it’s very Hozier to use circumcision as a metaphor too. So relatable.

When I was at his Toronto show there was a section during Movement where he randomly started annunciating REALLY well like “you are the rightT oF movemenTUH” and it caught me off guard so bad lmfao

My oldest thought it was “Dont wanna be a saucepan or a soldier”.

And honestly, both are valid.

Lol I had to look up the lyrics 'cause once I read Limmy Jimmy it fit in the sound

I sang "So much of the living, love, is the piano notes" instead of "So much of the living, love, is the being unknown" for weeks 😭
