So, so far cameron's character has been extremely inconsistent. People often differentiate her actions in season 1-3 from 3- to more seasons.
I think that's because she had a massive personality shift not in a good way either.
As she started to become extremely annoying in season 1-3 she quit and became a side character. But did any of y'all observed that she was behaving very differently?
Like- brunet cameron and blonde cameron are two different people almost. Maybe they wanted to highlight the "house" effect on her but it felt like she was trying hard to put up the whole "i'm tougher than I look" persona poorly.
Other than that- yes. Her whole emotional usage of chase is very evident, first coaxing him to have sex in work, very evidently pining for house and denying it whenever chase asked her, then ruining his proposal, that one was pretty bitchy of her amongst many other bitchy things she had done like- the whole trying to undermine his efforts by labeling it as "it's just 3 days vacation". Now keeping her dead husband's sperm? Like- atp i just skip all the cameron and chase scenes because I want to reach inside the screen and slap her real hard.
But in the back of my mind I did sometimes think, how come chase isn't just breaking it off with her? Now, I know it might be too logical question for someone who is down bad in love with her. But he did continued taunting her for sabotaging their relationship by mentioning house all the time. I still pity him and i m very excited for after divorce arc of his. But it's almost as if he is very self aware as well as aware of his relationship dynamic with her yet continues to put up with her outrageous actions.
I still pity him though even though it's bit pathetic but whenever cameron hurts him I do think he deserves better.
ALSO I was going through one post in the sub and literally someone had the argument that cameron is only hated because of sexism and house is not hated even though he is bigger piece of shit. Like- no kidding!? He IS bigger piece of shit.
But when we see actions of someone from their pov we tend to sympathies with them because we see their struggles from their pov, house is loved the same way walter white is loved in breaking bad. We rationalise and sympathies with their logics and struggles. Yet after every episode ends you DO know that yes they're one crappy person.
Although yes there is sexism in the show to good extend but so is racism the whole show is house trying to get reaction out of people by poking around stereotypes about certain group of people.
People hate cameron because she is the biggest hypocrite (which kinda does fit with the whole show's theme) she is self righteous person, who spits out rules and regulations and morality like it's her core values yet her actions speaks otherwise, everyone is aware of that even foreman said to chase when he mentioned about her dead husband's sperm, that she has issues.
I don't think it's because of deliberate sexism because you don't see anyone hating thirteen and Amber, sure there might be few hate posts but tbh....that many hate posts circulates about every character in the sub which is reasonable not every personality is to be liked by everyone.
But they stick to their character, they're consistent. Sure, you might hate a character when they do something outrageous like amber literally manipulating thirteen to win a spot in house's team or foreman literally injection cameron with the infection but they redeem themselves by sticking to that consistency. And cameron doesn't.
Would love to hear your thoughts on this :)
