Serena had absent parents. Her mother was chasing men, her father was nowhere to be seen. Everyone around her failed her. The guy she fell in love with was a narcissistic douche who kept whining about "different worlds" as if it was serena's fault for having money. Dan knew he didnt belong yet he pursued her relentlessly.
Honestly serena tries her best to be the good person and to do right by people. I do not recall even one story arc where serena's actions werent justified. She was a fucking teenager with NOBODY to rely on and basically navigating her life by herself. Yes her choices and priorities were questionable but who could blame her?

I know everyone hates Dan around here, but I thought I'd throw my hat into the ring. Every episode just gets more aggrevating, with his 'moral compass' that he really doesn't have, that somehow makes him involved in everything, anyone else? rant over, sorry :)

I’m only on the beginning parts of season 4, the part where Chuck is back with that woman who saved his life in Prague. I actually really like them together and would ship them to be endgame. It seems like Chuck and Blair will end up with each other though (no spoilers please). While I don’t like Chuck and Blair in their own ways, I think they’re perfect for each other too in some ways. I just can’t get past the situation with Jack Bass, I really believe Blair did nothing wrong. She was being coerced. Chuck is so wrong for what he set up. And then when he thinks Blair stood him up, he goes and sleeps with Jenny. I’m sure they’re gonna write something in and make Blair forgive him for everything and they end up together, but I think it’d be nice if they move on from each other too.

hiya!
my neverending gossip girl fixation has yet to die out, and i am reaching a point where i'd like to try dipping a toe into GG fanfiction
when i get into fan-written works for any media i'm into, i like to start out with the most well-known ones.
this leads me to my question: are there any GG fanfics that are considered 'classics' in the fandom - whether that be newer ones, or ones that were written way back in the 2000s/early 2010s?
ao3 is the site i'm used to, and i'm not very well-acquainted with fanfiction.net, which was the leading site for fanfiction in the GG era as far as i'm aware. but i'm willing to go anywhere for GG fics! i just need the material lol
as long as it's written with a decent amount of nuance, i'm not too picky about genre or ships. i'm sapphic myself and i do tend to gravitate towards lesbian/wlw fanfic though, so if anyone knows any good blair x serena fics (or any other wlw pairings), send your recommendations my way please!
thank you 🙏

By this point in the show while sometimes entertaining the writers had lost the plot from
The Ben/Serena stuff to the awful Juliet stuff, but for like a 10 episode stretch in the back half of season 4 Blair and dans dynamic really grounds the show in a way imo really makes the craziness outside of them way more tolerable kinda like Dan/serena did in season 1. Now Dan and Blair get caught in the writers losing the plot in season 5 unfortunately (I still think Penn and leighton are so good together they make it work until the writers full on massacre them in the finale) idk if this makes total sense as i just found this scene just really warm and heartwarming and inspired me to post about it lmao but yeah thoughts?

I know that there has been such polarising opinions on Ivy, especially as why she was introduced and how CeCe left her so much in the will.
But, I am flabbergasted at how remarkably quick she came up with the tall tale in S5 E9! Telling the family that Max was blackmailing her over a s3x-tape is WILD. If you look closely, you can see Carol hiding a smirk 😄
The fact that they never even question her makes me think that extorting money in this way is familar and entirely plausible on the UES.
What are people's views on this?
