Damn, maybe I am old school but how is Dragon Ball not even in the top 3?

To be fair: why would Dragonball change your life? I mean I get it if you became an MMA fighter or something lol.

Do you have any idea how many times I try to pull off a kamehameha as an adult when no one is looking? Hey… you never know…

Would "introducing me to anime" not count as changing one's life? I could say the same about Naruto, although my answer would still be Gintama. Given this poll was based in Japan, the answers would be quite different than what you'd expect from other countries.

There's definitely people who were inspired to work out because of Dragon Ball, like jaxblade (youtube).

childhood? motivation / not giving up?

people who say Naruto or Gintama changed their life isnt because they became ninjas or samurai dude

Gintama is less about being a samurai than it is about dealing with the human condition. I get the comparison you're making, but can you, as a Gintama fan, wholeheartedly say Gintama and Dragon Ball are at the same level?

Edit: both are amazing, no doubt, but in vastly different ways.

of course not, thats kind of why Gintama is first there but dragon ball isnt

my point was that dragon ball isnt about martial arts, its about motivation, improving yourself, not giving up, etc. its also mostly for kids

Got it, fair point. I guess the (sometimes) friendly rivalry between Goku and Vegeta can be inspiring as well.

Reborn is also pretty old from what I remember but I completely agree that it should be up there as more impactful for people than DB
