Gnosis Pierro Took The Pyro Gnosis - A Narration Footnotes Analysis
Hi all. The foundation of this post relies on the understanding of the Narration Footnotes theory and how it relates to the Fatui Harbingers. Many wonderful people on the subreddit provided translation and their own analyses of it, which I recommend you read here.
TLDR: the characters of Narration Footnotes correspond to the following Fatui Harbingers:
Cappet - Capitano
Albizzi - Columbina
Boborano - Dottore
The Detective - The Narrator - Pierro
With the "dragon" representing the Abyss.
Now, the previous analyses focused mainly on Boborano, Cappet and Albizzi and how their clan's histories relate to their counterparts future. However, what I would like to focus on instead is what happens after the truth of each clan is uncovered and their "story arc" is concluded.
The Crime Scene
The day after, Traveler finds that Cappet (Capitano) has collapsed and is unconscious "for at least another hour and a half". The fault is initially attributed to Boborano (Dottore).

As we turn back time, we can see that neither Boborano (Dottore) nor Albizzi (Columbina) were anywhere near him. This leads the Detective (Pierro) to conclude that Cappet (Capitano) must have done it to himself to create another conflict between clans.
Detective: For all I know, he could have bashed his head against the toilet bowl before leaving the house. Then walked here in a daze before finally passing out.
Detective: As for why he might have done that... My guess is:
Kirara: ...Is...?
Detective: With the Supreme Clan question left unanswered, and the tension in Constellation Metropole suddenly wiped away, he was looking to create a new source of conflict.
Which, of course, is completely out of character for Cappet (Capitano). Kirara also finds this suspicious and wonders if something is missing from the scene. We investigate the area and find a pickaxe far away from the scene of the crime. When we ask around, we are told that the pickaxe is special in that it cannot harm toys (humans).

With the object back at the scene of the crime, we rewind time again and see the truth of the events:
The Detective (Pierro) threw the pickaxe at Cappet (Capitano), causing him to collapse. He then shouted "dragon" (Abyss) to hide the evidence.

What does any of this have to do with the Pyro Gnosis?!
You see, the Pyro Gnosis is exceptional in many regards.
- It is the only Gnosis to be granted to humans.
- Any human in Natlan can win the chance to be the bearer of it, provided that they prove themselves in battle.
- When the Pyro Archon manifests this power, it does not hurt people around them. As Mavuika's sister Hine plays with her Pyro-infused hair, she describes it like this:

And so, in broad terms the Pyro Gnosis can be described as an object that does not harm humans.
So, let's consider the possibility that the pickaxe in the Narration Footnotes represents the Pyro Gnosis.
Back to the Footnotes
Allow me to reframe the crime scene with this idea in mind.
The Detective throws the pickaxe at Cappet, causing him to collapse and fall unconscious.
Pierro sent Capitano to Natlan for the Pyro Gnosis, which causes him to "fall unconscious" there.
With the pickaxe missing from the scene, the fault is attributed to Boborano.
The Pyro Gnosis disappeared from the face of Teyvat, which is attributed to the current situation with Dottore.
Traveler discovers that the pickaxe was stolen and hidden away from the crime scene.
The person who stole the Pyro Gnosis has the ability to hide themselves from the record of fate.
You might say: ok, this kinda lines up, but what about that last point?
Can Pierro Hide His Fate?
To answer this question, we need to examine how Khaenri'ahn scholars were able to manipulate data stored in Irminsul.
Not too long ago, in patch 6.2, Durin managed to change the past of Hyperboreans using his Abyssal powers.

While he was not able to change the final outcome, he modified the record of fate to a profound extent. This demonstrates that Abyss can be successfully used to tamper with the records of fate.
Wanderer: To intimidate and obstruct... Hmph. Sounds about right for the Abyss.
In patch 3.2, we discover that the record of our sibling exists in Irminsul. In patch 3.3, Scaramouche asserts that the reason this happened is because they first landed in Khaenriah:
The Balladeer: The reason why there are records about your (sister/brother) in Irminsul... It might have something to do with Khaenri'ah. Apparently, Khaenri'ah was (her/his) first destination when (she/he) arrived in this world.
The Balladeer: Plus, (she/he) only came to this world because the heavens responded to the summoning.
And interestingly enough, he makes a point to say that when this happened, our sibling lived with Pierro.
Paimon: The heavens... responded?
The Balladeer: The Jester told me this himself. You can take his word on this. He was a royal mage in Khaenri'ah, and lived with your (sister/brother) for a time.
Not long after being inserted into Irminsul, the record of the sibling was obfuscated:
Nahida: According to the records I was able to access, your sibling suddenly appeared in Khaenri'ah...
Nahida: After the Khaenri'ah disaster, (she/he) began (her/his) journey through the seven nations of Teyvat.
Nahida: But just as (her/his) journey was about to reach its conclusion, the Irminsul records on (her/him) suddenly become fuzzy...
Paimon: What do you mean, "fuzzy"? Did something happen to (her/him)?
Nahida: All I know for sure is that somebody, for reasons only they can know, is deliberately obfuscating (her/his) fate...
The record disappeared at the "conclusion" of their journey. Given that our path through Teyvat deliberately mirrors our sibling's, it is safe to assume that their final destination was Snezhnaya.
This suggests that their record was hidden while they were in Snezhnaya.
It's been theorized that Pierro is Eftirvit, the Vice-President of Universitas Magistrorum. Much of the research of Universitas Magistrorum focused on the uses of Abyss, leading to incredible inventions such as Chaos Permeation, a mimicry of Teyvat's elements, and of course the long, long list of the accomplishments of the Five Sinners.
It is therefore very likely that they were able to use Abyss much the same way Durin had, to add, edit and hide records in Irminsul.
Now, it can be argued that it's Hroptatyr who took the Pyro Gnosis. Given his role as a Sinner and his level of skill (considered to be superior to Pierro by Irmin), he is a valid candidate for the role.
However, it is almost certainly Pierro.
He is obviously invested in acquiring all the gnoses for the Fatui's plan. With Dottore dead and Pantalone too weak to fight, there was no one left in Sumeru to collect the Pyro Gnosis.
We should also remember the Gods Limits. Along with the Shades, it was Pierro who appeared in the teaser. Since the Shades made their move here, in patch 6.6, it is likely that so has he.
Why Hide?
Let's come back to Narration Footnotes:
The Detective (Pierro) used the dragon (Abyss) to conceal the record of the pickaxe (the Pyro Gnosis) and the fact that he held it, from the crime scene. He did not put much effort into hiding his involvement:

As to why do it, the purpose is threefold.
First, distraction.
While Nahida was spending all her effort looking for the Gnosis, Pantalone exited Sumeru without being noticed. Wanderer can only suspect that he was involved.
Second, subterfuge.
Thanks to Pulcinella's letter and reparations, Nahida's opinion of Snezhnaya is cautiously positive. If the Fatui hope to use her help in the future, it cannot be known that the Pyro Gnosis was forcefully taken by them.
Third, control.
Initially, the Pyro Gnosis was given to us. If we had still held it when we arrive in Snezhnaya, this would have forced the Fatui to compromise their plans for our sake. By taking it personally, Pierro not only reduced our options, but he ensured that the plan can proceed exactly as he wants it to.
What's Next?
It should not be long before we discover where the Pyro Gnosis is. If this theory is correct, we may even find it in our possession again. But no matter what happens next, it is clear that the Fatui's plan for the Gnoses is soon to come to fruition.

I think Asmoday yoinked it. Since the Gnosis was used to contact Celestia it means she must know as well and after it burned Irminsul she might have yoinked it and the events in God's Limit first parts takes place after this event. While the one with Pale Star Edict is in the past. These trailers are most of the time not accurate to the timeline of events after all.

Very well made! I was so sure Dottore managed to grab it, when we swapped places with him, and he was being grabbed into the flames, hence the next scene is him discussing with Pantalone, and the swap happened, but there is little to no proof there...

I love reading theory posts like this, thank you for sharing! It does make sense and simulanka is really the gift that keeps on giving.

I enjoyed reading this, very good post 🙏 However I'm firm believer of the fact it was destroyed to remove Dottore's fate because of what Mavuika said. She said it was knock-up effect on certain strand of fate and we know since 6.3 he's been trying to change his fate. I feel like Mavuika would feel it's existence if someone took it even if that someone could conceal it, after all gnosis are called heart of god in the game.

We don't know that for a fact, Nahida directly brings up that she couldn't find any traces of its destruction.

The tale of Antonio, the ancestor of the Boborano clan (Dottore's clan), also seems to suggest that someone from Khaenri'ah stole the Pyro Gnosis. Antonio was rescued from the basement of the burning house by the blacksmith and the village chief. In Northern mythology, blacksmiths are often associated with dwarves, people from the underground. The village chief's identity is a bit more difficult to pin down. If the blacksmith is Pierro, then the village chief would be the Tsaritsa, as the leader of Snezhnaya. I'm leaning slightly more toward the Vedrfolnir-Asmoday pair, since her powers are a little too convenient for hiding something like the Gnosis.
