Hello thanks for taking the time. Quick question in trails in the sky 1st chapter do buffs of the same type stack?

Like if i use estelles morale to boost Strength, and then use Agates own self buff to boost strength does it do anything? As far as i can tell its a no but just wanted to confirm it.

Any info welcomed.

EDIT: Thank you all for the responses.

To follow your example, both Estelle's and Agate's buffs are 15%, so using both would get 30%, and you could do it a third time for 45%. What you should see is not the big middle arrow changing, but the little yellow chevron in left bottom corner, it should become two and then three chevrons -

Thank you so much. I tried looking for info but the sites i was looking at were old and for other trails games i think.

No worries, as mentioned below, the design and application changed several times over the series:

  • OG Sky Series (duration keyed from delay units themselves instead of turn count, each buff having its own, non-stackable value)
  • Crossbell (25/50% stacking, i.e. yellow -> red arrow. Arts eat two turns worth of buffs, making buffs pretty bad for artists, yet still necessary in Nightmare)
  • CS1-2 (same as Crossbell, but arts now only eat a buff turn on cast, instead of both on command and cast)
  • CS3+/Daybreaks/Horizons/Sky1st(and2nd most likely) (what's mentioned above. At first they did three styles of arrows, going thicker and yellow->orange->red, but either at Reverie or Daybreak 1, can't recall exactly which, they changed to those chevrons instead and stuck to them)

Buffs stack to 50%. So if you have a 25 and a 25, it'll stack. The arrow changes from yellow to red to signify this.

At least, that's how it works in the later games. It might be different in FC.

In the original trilogy they do not stack, they get overwritten instead, duration and magnitude both.

The numbers ain't right, mate, that's Crossbell/CS1-2 math. Saltymr already corrected what's the deal with the original Sky trilogy, but in later games, starting with Cold Steel 3 (and so Sky 1st remake too), they changed all stat increases to follow 3step process - 15/30/45% (or S/M/L, or +/++/+++, depending on game)

The flow of timebuffs is strange in LordranZemuria.
