Orange may not the colour immediately associated with Enya, but she wears it well, and orange evokes the spirituality and creativity within her work. 🧡🎨🎶

Some of Enya's compositions that I'd associate with the colour: An Ghaoth Ón Ghrian, Storms in Africa (I), The Sun in the Stream, The Celts, Portrait (Short Version), Tea-House Moons, La Soñadora, Triad, and kind of do with Aníron and Even In The Shadows. (I might make a playlist) 🎶🧡

I was actually listening through the songs from the playlist in the previous post working on the first four 😄 and I think Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini was particularly inspiring. 🎼 Enya mentioned that one during The Memory of Trees, probably the album closest to orange-themed.

I had this playlist up for a while, and just thought to share it: several tracks, most that Eithne has mentioned in interviews between 1989 and 2016.
There are old songs, pop songs, classical pieces, film & musical numbers. (Enya has not been sampled in any of these, nor officially recorded/covered them; the samples list would be huge. 😅)
There are a couple of Christmas songs near the end, and added Perfect Time by her late sister Moya at the end. 😌🤍

She definitely knew those timeless early 80s songs long before they were popular on the internet, as well as kind of moving with the times (listening to newer tracks at the time of interviews too). 😎 I also wonder what newer songs Eithne particularly likes from the past couple of years or so? 😃

Her taste in non-Enya music also features lots of great melodies for sure. 🎶🌠♡

I've always been a punk/hardcore guy, but back in 1993, I had a high school girlfriend who played Shepherd Moons for me, & it absolutely wrecked me. Caribbean Blue, obviously, but I was way into the whole thing. A year or two later, my next girlfriend happened to be wise to Enya, & my mind exploded. When I pick up my guitar or drumsticks, I still play loud, fast music, but in my heart, it's all Enya. If I had to pick a favorite song, sometimes it's Caribbean Blue, sometimes it's I Want Tomorrow, sometimes it's Athair Ar Neamh. And after about 30 years, now I finally have an Enya t-shirt, & it is dope. Much love to all of my Enya fam!

Enya is definitely a Taurus, something she has mentioned before, and was quite open with how stubbornness is one of her traits. ☺️

A few months ago (and now, of course) I've been wondering about her other signs (Moon and Rising, possibly the planets).

I don't know how to read natal charts, but it would be interesting to know if someone here does know this stuff well. 😃🌌🪄

Although the time that Eithne was born is not known (nor has her mother Baba talked about Eithne as a baby/child in interviews; she has for Moya) I have taken a wild guess 😅 that Eithne was born in the night, 10-11pm-ish Irish Standard Time. Not in the morning/daylight hours, and probably after midday at least.

I somehow thought Cancer Moon and Sagittarius Rising; more sure about the moon sign (also the moon was a Waxing Crescent on her date of birth🌘:)

I think the linked clip (a segment of the 1989 'In Conversation' interview) might be insightful. She describes her personality quite broadly, even if she has maintained a notably private lifestyle. ♡

A little edit 🤗🪄 I just re-listened to Evening Falls and was reminded of that 'echo' in Echoes in Rain no less (these particular 'I know the way' lyrics). For the former, it is sung in a sorrowful way, being at home, knowing the way, yet feeling so far away... But in Echoes, she sings of being on the road back home, and knowing the way brings a sense of joy and relief. 💛

Of course, there are many Enya songs in-between these two that talk about the journey home, but it just stood out to me how much lighter Echoes in Rain feels. Being the last written/released track as Enya (the trio) it really does show that the journey, through all its ups and downs, was worthwhile. 😌🎶💗

E.g. Caribbean Blue is in the key of E major (also has a transient modulation 🤓 to C major then to F major for the last verse and outro).
Almost 3 years ago I did this thing of listening to almost every Enya track and writing what key they were in, changes etc.. (by ear for most). ☺️
Also the sheet music here is from (I think) the official Shepherd Moons piano book, released in 1992. 💙

Went to a maxfield Parrish artwork exhibition in Galveston Texas …

Good day to all!

Following the recent posts concerning Maxfield Parrish, I was wondering if there are any other artists/visual artworks that make you think about Enya's music.

Personally, these two paintings always come to my mind.

The first one is an illustration of the month of May from Les Très Riches Heures du Duc de Berry (XV century). It's a Book of Hours, and it makes me reminiscing about the Shepherd Moons album (especially Book of Days, for obvious reasons, and Caribbean Blue). You can find the original work at the castle of Chantilly.

The second one is titled Le Sommeil d'Endymion (Endymion's Sleep, 1791) from the painter Anne-Louis Girodet. Its ethereal, peaceful yet tragic story fits a lot of Enya's songs beautifully. I think mostly of Athair Ar Neamh. This one can be contemplated at the Louvre museum, in Paris.
