Young’s Curry

Weird question, it’s my dads birthday soon enough, was going to try and make him curry from Young’s on the Castletown road since it’s closed down but can’t get the recipe right, I know it was more peppery and a darker brown colour than other curry sauce, would anyone know what they might put in it? Cheers

Town centre parking

Hi, I'm looking at an apartment near the town centre. It's grand but the only problem is the building doesn't have parking. I've read that I can apply for residential parking permit so I can park on the street but it seems to be the busiest street in town and I always see the street packed all-day every day of the week.

My question is how does the parking permit work, is that easy to get and what if there's no available space near my place? And anyone know of any alternatives, like private car park spaces for rent? Thanks for the help

Accepted into DCU MSc AI – commute vs moving + timetable questions

Hi everyone,

I recently got accepted into the MSc in Artificial Intelligence at DCU and I’m trying to plan ahead a bit.

Right now I’m renting in Dundalk and paying €600/month for an ensuite room. I’m not sure if it’s worth keeping it and commuting, or if moving closer to Dublin would be a better option.

For anyone who has done (or is doing) this course:

  • How many days per week do you usually have classes?
  • Roughly how many hours per day?
  • Is the timetable spread out or more condensed?

Do you think a Dundalk to DCU commute is manageable for this course, or would you recommend moving closer?

Any advice would be really appreciated, thank you!

Dundalk.....A small favour to ask…

We (Richard and Bert from Amsterdam) were lucky enough to have tickets for [The Frames](chatgpt://generic-entity?number=0) in [Dundalk](chatgpt://generic-entity?number=1) not so long ago. While we were there, we happily picked up an LP by [Just Mustard](chatgpt://generic-entity?number=2), and just last week we saw them live at [Paradiso](chatgpt://generic-entity?number=3) — what a brilliant night it was.

We were having another look at the website of The Spirit Store the other day, and to our delight saw they’re now selling [The Frames](chatgpt://generic-entity?number=4) T-shirts… though sadly, they don’t ship them out.

So here’s the cheeky ask — if there’s a kind soul nearby who wouldn’t mind picking one up for us and sending it over, we’d be hugely grateful. We’d of course cover all costs (and happily add a little extra for the trouble).

Thanks a million in advance! Please DM me.......Richard

I was running back through one of the showers and I think they might have fallen off my head. If anyone has seen/has them, please PM me! They were a very special present and I’d love to find them.

Leap Card on Halpenny 917?

Never got the bus in Dundalk before and am wondering if the 917 accepts the Leap Card? Or am I better off just getting a Bus Eireann one?

Traffic lights cmx road

The traffic lights at junction of an bothair dara are a disaster since they installed them. Took me less than 10 mins to get into town before they installed the lights now takes 30- 40 mins in the mornings. The sequencing seems to prioritize cars coming from bothair dara versus the cmx road which is heavier with traffic.

Best Chinese

I've been living here since November and I have tested most of the main Chinese and I have decided that the best Chinese, by a mile is "The Kitchen" on Hill Street

some places were close, but had negatives.

I am glad I have found my Chinese, living in Dublin for years I was spoiled, but now I can finally call this place home.

Considering a move up from Dublin, fell in love with Dundalk, any areas to avoid?

Hiya! I am from Dublin and am considering a move to Dundalk. We went up with our baba the other day and I absolutely loved the town centre and the views, it's some town!

We are hoping to move soon and our little one is almost a year old. We are hoping to find a place near enough to the trains for commuting or for elderly family coming to visit. I'm from one of the so-called rougher parts of Dublin and know that toughest depends on the estate itself, so just wondering if there are any estates that ye wouldn't recommend for a young family to move to?
