Podcast Desperately Devoted discussion thread - That's A Wrap (Season Finale "One Wonderful Day")
"Michael Edelstein (executive producer) is back with Season One facts that have our jaws dropping faster than Wisteria in the winter! From the actress replaced in the pilot, to a storyline so shocking it had to be cut! Plus, not everyone was thrilled with the ratings. Teri and Michael reflect on the blessing and the curse of having a hit on your hands."
Please use this discussion thread to discuss your thoughts about today's Desperately Devoted podcast episode.

General Discussion (may contain spoilers) Town hall Meeting & Update about the sub
Hey Guys & Gals,
This is a follow up post from your friendly neighbour mod team!
After our last town hall meeting and some other further feedback we have had we will be introducing the following changes -
- All Susan and Tom hate posts will be limited to one day a week. Susan’s will be on Mondays and Tom’s will be on Thursdays. All hate posts must use the correct flair for that corresponding post (Tom Scavo Complaint/Susan Mayer Hate). Any post made outside of these designated dates will be removed. This is to stop clogging up the feed and hopefully reduce the negativity in this sub-reddit.
- We will be creating a “MEGA FAQ” thread. This will be a one off, fully time pinned post at the top of the sub-reddit which has the most frequently asked questions about the show to reduce the same posts being made each week. An example question would be “why didn’t Lynette get an abortion”. Can everyone please include what questions you see WAY too often to be included in this post.
- Alignment charts will stay on this sub-reddit. But only one per cycle will be allowed. If one alignment chart has already been approved, then no more will be approved until that alignment chart has been completed. We obviously encourage creativity and fun on this sub-reddit, but want to reduce the feed from being clogged up.
- Finally, some flairs will be removed. Flairs such as - Season 8 Thoughts (most people usually put this under General Discussion), Disaster Episode Discussion (again, usually falls under general discussion), Julie Mayer (I don’t think many people use this flair) and Six Feet Under (again, same issue) as we currently have 23 flairs on this sub and want to make it easier and clearer for which flairs to be used. If your post regards anything story related to season 8, please use a spoiler flair. Of course, if anyone has any suggestions for flairs we would love to hear them!
As mentioned in point 2, please drop your most “overseen” questions we can add to a MEGA FAQ thread; thanks!
As always, please feel free to message the mods here (in this post) or via mod mail if you have any questions or queries or suggestions!

Rewatch Thoughts (may contain spoilers) Would have been so brilliant if the nurse who made the 'swap' we find out about in season 7 was named Helen
She's not, I already checked. It was Theresa Pruette. Huge missed opportunity...

Rewatch Thoughts (may contain spoilers) On Tom and Lynette's first date
Was he hiding his relationship with Anabel? If Lynette already knew about it from the get go "What do we tell HR?" was an odd thing to say if he was up front about his other relationship (as he had to deal with that before). And why would he want to bring attention to it or remind her if she did know then anyhow?

Cast/Memes Felicity Huffman in the ABC Afterschool Special Home Run For Love
This is a 5.30 long compilation of Felicity's scenes from the ABC Afterschool Special Home Run For Love in 1978. This was her very first role, and she was only about 15 years old. (I swear her voice hasn't changed for nearly 40 years!)

Rewatch Thoughts (may contain spoilers) Anyone else confused by Spoiler
Anyone else confused by Bre? I’m not understanding Bre’s thought process of making Orson turn himself into prison when her son Andrew literally did the same thing with Carlos’ mom??? I understand that’s her son but be for real! They’re no different...

General Discussion (may contain spoilers) Halfway through Season 6 … idk if I can take anymore (rant)
Started watching because I lost my job/am pregnant and like background noise while I clean and such. My mom watched as it aired from the first episode, but I remember she stopped watching around season 5 and when I asked about it she said the plot was just getting really ridiculous to maintain her interest (which seemed silly at the time because the show always seemed to be like a soap opera where the main thing that drives the story is drama, not necessarily good/relatable plot points).
Anyway, I’m at the part where Orson and Brie are starting to get along again after the plane crash and Carlos and Gabby hear the Italian family arguing about “not being careful enough” and I’m just like… at a saturation point I guess.
I really did enjoy the beginnings of the series with Mary Alice’s suicide and up until after Katherine’s ex gets his karma. The whole thing with Dave was a bit interesting but then the whole thing with Katherine losing her mind over Mike getting back with Susan just made me mad. Not to mention Tom never seeing even a little bit of character development the entire series it feels like. At first I felt bad for Lynette now I’m like, girl. You really chose this life and that man. I wouldn’t have trusted him to get the vasectomy, I would have insisted on going with for the procedure and the follow up appointments given his inability to put her needs above his own when it comes to sex.
Now whenever they come on the screen I almost audibly groan.
Really wanted to finish the series but I think I’m seriously going to need to take a break to build my tolerance for how frustrating/unreasonable some of the characters are.
Also I don’t think my opinion is like the end all be all or that no one should like the show. Mostly I’m just sad because now I need a filler show while I cool down from being frustrated about this one 😭 wanted to vent

Rewatch Thoughts (may contain spoilers) Vent session about Orson (spoilers) Spoiler
Currently watching DH for the first time in probably over a decade and I just have to rant about one thing haha.
The storyline where Orson is in a wheelchair and he's mad af at Bree for her "affair" pisses me off so badly. Because like.. you blackmailed her into staying married to you, threatening her with JAIL no less, and she said REPEATEDLY said she wanted a divorce. You wouldn't give her one, so you forced her to stay married to you or go to jail and so THEN she started seeing someone else. As far as I'm concerned, that's not an affair. She dumped you and you couldn't accept it. It's frustrating me so much that she's feeling guilty about this when Orson was being such a psycho and wouldn't just free her from the marriage 😮💨
All the other cheating in the show is definitely cheating, but this one just doesn't feel the same to me.
Also, I actually loved Orson for Bree and hate that they ruin him😭

Rewatch Thoughts (may contain spoilers) Unpopular opinion: Gaby deserved what Carlos did in season 2
When Carlos cheated. She was becoming unbearable and deserved a lick back, even better that it was someone that worked for them like John worked for them and her.

General Discussion (may contain spoilers) I can't stand some of the main characters
For context, I'm on season 1 but I've seen clips of the show here and there
Lynette treated Annabel like dogsh*t because she thought her husband would cheat on her with Annabel, despite the fact that Lynette STOLE TOM from her.
Susan I really wanted to like, but she is the nosiest person ever. I understanding wanting to know the truth, but I'm not sure why she is taking it upon herself to figure out everything about Mike's past and going around him when he GAVE HER A LETTER with it all. She broke into Paul's house and needs to take a step back. Also, her hyper-reliance on Julie is just embarrassing. It's okay to need people to talk to but talk to your friends or get a therapist. It is not your teenager's job to be your emotional support.

First Time Watcher Why was zach called seabiscuit
Why did carlos call zach “seabiscuit” after zach had proposed to gabby in season 3? I dont understand the joke/reference.

Rewatch Thoughts (may contain spoilers) Lynette once catfished a teenage boy on the Lane. I won't say who, because it's a spoiler but...

SPOILER I hate Nora
I'm only on season 3 episode 1 (first time watcher), but I really really really wanna turn off the show because of her. The actor does a really good job because I just despise her (the character, not the actor). I hate spoilers but I had to search up what happens to her because I just want her gone. At least I know she won't be here for long.
(Also I didn't know if I should add the spoiler tag, but I did say she wouldn't be here for long so...)

First Time Watcher I just discovered DH as a comfort show
I just got Disney+ subscription and found Desperate Housewives. Once I started watching it, I couldn’t put it down. I’ve been watching it nonstop for weeks now. NO SPOILERS PLEASE. I’m just on S2 Ep12.
I just turned thirty last March and it first aired when I was around 9 years old, but there’s something so comforting about the early 2000s. Wish life could go back to those simpler times! I love the outrageousness of the storylines. It’s also so well-written and witty. They don’t make TV shows like this anymore.
Who’s your favorite? I love Bree and think she deserves better than the way her storyline is treating her by S2 Ep12.

Rewatch Thoughts (may contain spoilers) One of the saddest episodes in the show Spoiler
Rewatching DH and I just wanted to share what's in my opinion one of the saddest, if not THE saddest episode in the show. Season 4, episode 10 the post tornado episode.I usually don't cry when watching shows and movies, but this makes me sad every time I watch it. Not just because Ida dies, which is of course very sad and tragic, especially the arc after she dies, but also watching this specific scene. Seeing this fear in Lynette's eyes, waiting for her family to get pulled out, especially after what she's been through this season just breaks my heart. It's such an emotionally charged episode and despite it being so sad I like rewatching it.What are some of y'alls saddest and most memorable episodes?
